I give you a chapter 25 short summary: They climb up to the tomb of the original Sukune. It's decrepit, abandoned. His descendants prospered, but thought nothing of where it all began. [The land of] Izumo never forgave them for that. Therefore, god himself has descended - with the power of yore. Point is, Sukune wants to take on (take down?) grand sumo (oozumou) because they've forgotten their history or whatever. Tokugawa wonders if those martial artists and sports fighters who insist on 'real combat' will be able to survive the coming wave. Kinryuuzan mocks the rijichou and tells him that he can meet Sukune if he wants, but Kinryuuzan gets to decide where. He chooses the octagonal dohyou. Sukune examines the earth and says that he'll be able to do good sumo there.

Is the translator here? What do you think about Baki's script (japanese)? I dont know why but I feel like it's so hard to understand of what the characters are saying. I feel like there is a huge difficulty spike compared to other shounen manga, even the text heavy ones like Beastars.

yes it does, Baki himself is kinda boring and that flashback arc focus on him, after that the other dudes get more spotlight.

it seems like baki was way more interesting at the start of the series, once new grappler baki started he basically just became yujiro 2.0 except less crazy.

Yeah at the very least he was much more expressive during Grappler, as opposed to keeping his super calm/serious demeanor 90% of the time.

To those of you still confused by what the fuck Sukune is doing, here’s what’s happening (or at least what I think is happening):

>Sukune forces his muscles to exert just the amount of force he would need to exert to remain static if his imaginary opponent was real.
