ITT: Favorite Tropes

>when the antag compliments the protag as they fight and is clearly overjoyed at having a worthy opponent
S-subarashii!

And then the antagonist jobs right after. Garbage trope.

>when the antagonist respects the protagonist even when killing the protagonist

>MC use a technique he used against secondary villains, to defeat the final villain.
Not anime, but Ip Man 2's final fight was very satisfying for me.

When the first lines of the series repaint the ending in an entirely different light.

Fuck, wrong quote.

>ending of the final fight is cut off only to be revealed in the credits

Show starts with "This is how I died"

Nah mate, it’s used heavily in Berserk to full bonerific effect. The first Guts v. Zodd encounter had me diamonds the whole time. Forgive the screenshot but I couldn’t find the panels themselves.

Patrician trope right here. What’s your favorite example?

that's actually a good trope.

>Comic relief character gets serious

>record scratch
>“well, this is me. I bet you’re wondering how I got here, right?”

>user gets trips

When the main heroin gets cucked for a secondary female character.

i know what trope is this user. we all know you're hurt. we are too

I love me some hinatitties

Sad picture was because my favorite example is Code Geass.

>It's all about self satisfaction. Doesn't matter how hard you try, you can't do it. There's no way you can change the world.
Fucking first episode

Bondrewd?

>OP character wears jacket like a cape

>the farm arc
The most essential arc

I don’t know if she’s OP but Balalaika is the Russian femdom mommy gf of my (wet) dreams

>Low/lowest-ranked member of some badass group ends up being the strongest or giving opponents the most trouble

Attached: askin-disables-ichigo.png (848x895, 168K)

>when you really get invested in the villian and like him more than the protag
> you think he is never going to win, but he does

>climactic battle devolves into two dudes just punching each other

Attached: Cj7DoNqXEAABaEM.jpg (426x341, 32K)

>when the generic beta MC not only switches sides and becomes the villain, but does so after becoming stronger as a person, and does so only for ultimately good reasons
>also the female lead of your show creates a character archetype that endures 15 years after your show started airing

I have a folder of just women wearing jackets over their shoulders like capes.

>Kotomine Kireeeeei!

From creating galaxies to just punching each other. That shit was so good.

d-dump?

It's 3DPD you don't want it user, I wish it were a more popular thing in manga but it's not.

>character who always has eyes closed opens them for the first time

>character always has eyes closed
>there is a reason

>the protagonist is the main villian

Examples.
Besides overlord.

>then the antagonist is forced to an hero

Death Note

>light
>villain
rev up the retard alarm i'm going in

Would Deadman Wonderland count? Shiro isn’t the main protagonist but she is certainly one of them

im pretty sure only pucci did that

>It's 3DPD you don't want it user,
I do, drop it on a MEGA link or something. Please.

>mass murderer
>hero
The retard alarm is already on.

Aside from TTGL what other show did this?

>character that mainly uses techniques yo win says "fuck it" and fights like a mad dog.

>if hes not a hero then he must be a villain
Correct, already on because you triggered it with your birth.

I second this

FMA

Naruto

Imagine if he was actually well-written by someone other than the hack Kishi
This applies to the rest of the series as well

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 63K)

>the protagonist and the antagonist never meet nor interact with each other

Series like bleach make me wish manga rewrites were a thing.

Don’t forget this faggot

Furuta still pisses me off. Ishida should have turned it into a 3 parter to avoid the burnout.

Dio did that with jonathan

He should’ve at least taken a fuckin break in 7 years, it’s unforgivable that he did that to himself without any real reason. I get that his editors might’ve been on his back, but his series was successful. He had some say and he exercised it with ch 125 and the finale but that’s about it.

based and checked
don't why Yea Forumsnons hate him, he's easily one of the more entertaining characters in the series

>when a lot of various characters/factions/groups are trapped in one situation/location

Attached: DC40B0B1-E045-47AA-87D1-9C9C62D3F714.jpg (314x1024, 58K)

Agreed. It’s Furuta that fulfills TG’s tragedy/comedy dynamic, without him re wouldn’t be the classical comedy that it is.

This is why we hate him. TG wasn't a fucking comedy/tragedy. And even if it was there is nothing genuinely funny about furuta.

>inb4 “we”
A classical comedy isn’t supposed to be fucking funny you dumbass, it just refers to the overarching direction of the story

We as in Yea Forumsnons that don't like furuta. Furuta represented a shift in the tone, theme, and execution of TG. If you change a story half way through, people have the right to complain.
And what's this about classical comedy. TG wasn't a classical comedy. It was from the beginning to about halfway through re, a tragedy.

>one of the villains kick the ass from the entire cast of protagonists

I loved that in Full Ahead Coco and The Violinist of Hameln.

Attached: zagi.png (778x1200, 205K)

Righteousness goes to he who wins, and Light certainly didn't win.

Cavalier of the Abyss

>light certainly didn't win
If by becoming a literal death god with a cult of followers isn't winning, idk what is

I'd say "being alive" is one of my prerequisites, personally

>underdog villain kills smuglord protagonist

F/SN spoilers

Attached: 14-HF16-10-39.jpg (800x600, 117K)

What part of becoming a literal death god do you not get. He is better than alive.

A classical comedy, by definition, involves a farcical conflict that centers around some massive blunder (in TG re’s case, Kaneki’s emergence as dragon) that doesn’t ultimately end badly. It usually ends with the death of the antagonist and a “happy” conclusion for the protagonist. Re is a comedy, at least that’s what Ishida was going for. I’m not going to argue that he pulled it off well, though.

>at least that's what Ishida was going for
My god you're retarded. He made this choice, HALFWAY THROUGH RE. What are you having trouble with here.

>only HALF of re is a comedy
Well ALL of you is a massive faggot, what’s your point? Just because the focus on comedic elements was only hammered into us in the latter half doesn’t change what the story is, you brainlet

Oh yes

Attached: hao.jpg (900x493, 61K)

>stoic character cracks and shows his true emotions
sometimes it's just too much

In Negima, Negi vs Rakan at the tournament.

>what's your point
Okay i guess i'll restate it again because you have the brain of an actual rock. If you change your story halfway through, people are going to complain. Some people, would consider that bad writing.

I love the major from hellsing

>op mentor character reluctantly helps the protagonist and makes it a roundabout lesson

s-CRY-ed

Holy fucking shit, I can feel your autism and retardation through my screen. Ishida foreshadowed the endgame for TG re since the beginning of TG. I specifically said that I wasn’t arguing that he pulled it off well. It’s just the literal kind of story he was telling. Please wrap your brain around that so I don’t have to repeat myself.

Amuro & Char went from mobile suits, to guns, to swords

IT MADE NO SENSE.
>Bel Poul and all the other fags are actively trying to kill Yuji
>I know, why don't I join them
FUCK THAT
I never could finish Shana because of that

Hoshi no Samidare, even I hate this manga, that fight was really good.

Porco Rosso did it the best

God yes, I love any mentoring sequence

>villain soundly defeats hero
>spares the hero so he can train and stand a better chance for their rematch

>Starts off as foot soldier who isn't afraid to sass and shit-talk his fellow soldiers
>Fucking sits and watches a war go on while sipping tea because he doesn't feel like dirtying his hands yet
>Big Bad STILL promotes him to Elite Squad
>Only one of the Elite Squad to even put up a fight against Nimaiya before the powerup
>Suddenly starts scoring feats and incapacitating main characters (INCLUDING THE MC) left and right just by knowing when to fight, when to ambush, and when to run away
>Never loses his jovial goofy talkative attitude
Askin was fucking great
