>instantly identifiable by silhouette alone >instantly identifiable by color palette >instantly identifiable by hair style alone >fits the archetype of a wizard, with a pointy hat and cape, but is unique enough to stand on its own and not appear generic >can instantly change between cool archwizard and cute loliko and back, just by removing or donning her hat and cape, to match whether we are seeing the chuunibyou or cute side of her >every part of her character designs tells us about an aspect of her character
>petite body, patchwork hat, bandage wraps, and lack of fancy accessories (such as frills or jewelry) tell us that she has a background of being poor >the choker, fingerless gloves, eye patch, and asymmetrical styling creates a unique "punk mage" aesthetic, and informs us of her chuuni and rebellious nature, something typically associated with immaturity, which is another trait she has >fetishistic elements such as her thigh highs, lack of pants or skirt, bare shoulders, and black ribboned panties informs us that she wants to be seen as sexy and not some innocent little girl, a side effect of her being self concious due to her lacking body >the crimson red in her tunic and glowing eyes perfectly match several aspects of her character: she has a fiery personality, the nature of her magic is destructive, she isn't a normal human (genetically modified in this case), and that she is demon of sorts >several parts of her design even fit into several categories, with her leg wrappings displaying both poor and chuuni fashion, her collar being both sexual and chuuni, etc >the gold highlights on her outfit matches the gold highlights that the rest of the main cast has, informing us that she considers this party very close to her heart >as the series continues, she starts wearing her eye patch less and less, and starts wearing other clothing, to display how she is maturing and becoming more comfortable with her new friends Megumin is a miracle of the universe. I hope you can appreciate her design as much as I do.
She is slutty for the MC and also 7 years older than him, now the context of that scene? Can't say yet since this volume was not translated, pic related is from volume 1 though and is a scene that appears in the manga too so if you want, you can check the first couple chapters to see how she is.
My bespectacled beauty's character design is truly a work of art that we shouldn't take for granted. From her cute, short, peachy colored hair, to her tights which seem to be a blessing from the gods themselves. Not to forget the most important and appealing part of her design, her beautiful glasses which sits upon her cute, dainty nose. She is pure perfection, far beyond any other character design.
You dare summon me before I go to sleep?! Anyways, I can't post the list in these threads, since they are not directly associated with SSR or Tkmiz. but I can post this compilation image that I made, though it only has 100 reasons and not the current number.
She's actually just a standard trope of chuunibyo, although a very well-done one with fantastic voice acting.
>Evil Eye Chuuni types are the most iconic form but rarely seen outside of Japanese Media. These believe they have Magic and Powers and will try to convince you that they can have special or supernatural abilities (stereotypically a Magical Eye or Evil Hand which they grasp in supposed pain). They often create a persona with an Awesome Mc Coolname or Atrocious Alias (there's almost no middle ground) to display these magical abilities. They're sometimes known as the Delusional Type, due to their tenuous grasp of reality.
enjoying it so far? I just watched it all for the first time based on a chart that shuffled the arcs of the second season and owarimonogatari to make a semi-chronoligical order.
You know I'm right. It's lazy, throw frills and props everywhere character design. She's also low-tier in personality and bants.
Anthony Bennett
I'm going with novel order myself. I might do chronological if I rewatch it, but I want the written order for now; it makes the themes line up nicely. In any case I'm having a really good time with it but I've been putting off continuing for a while now. It's hard to put my reasons into words though.
I think a part of it is that I just don't want to be done with it - a fear that almost always gets to me when I truly enjoy something. I've also heard spoilers for some particular developments that upset me - not because they're bad, but because I know I'll be sad to see them.

an asthetic you don't personaly like =/= lazy that's my final (you)

To be fair, Megumin's outfit and other characters's are lame. Kurone is only good at drawing cute(moe) face. She is bad at drawing lewd body so up until now her arts haven't turn me on once. There are still many artists whose level, in terms of colouring - drawing background - designing (varied) characters, is way better than Kurone but they haven't got luck like her. For example, Arisaka - a friend of Kurone whose level is far above Kurone.

so they need to make you horny to be well designed? Also Serena

You're the one making that sort of argument. I'm going into specifics and all you're arguing is "I like it = good design"

She's designed to look like what she is: a doll. The frills, puffs, and stockings are all part of the fashion typically attributed to fancier porcelain dolls. The shorter skirt and haircut, however, make her look more girlish and less refined - cutesy, if I were to use one word. This serves to further contrast with her blank, expressionless face. Both the bizarre hat and the unusual color scheme serve the dual purpose of contributing to this cute aesthetic and to make her look recognizably strange and out of place. The boots are the same. Altogether those elements are meant to call the words "odd" and "uncanny" to mind without taking away form the aesthetic appeal - she retains a good sense of balance and an appealing, if garish, palette. This much is obvious from a cursory glance by someone with a relatively limited breadth of fashion and design knowledge.
And she doesn't have "frills and props everywhere" - she has one prop and a number of frills that's pretty appropriate to the type of dress she wears. So not only are you wrong about it being lazy, but the specifics you claim to be going into aren't all that accurate either.
Nathan Jackson
So she's specifically made to look dumb and out of place. I guess her design achieves that, but looking garish and shitty on purpose is still looking garish and shitty. Also, her boots are so stupid and out of place that they qualify as a prop.
Gabriel Anderson
Furthermore, it's the laziest way of achieving the goal of making her look "off." And that approach just makes her- ironically- blend into the rest of the stupid, busy anime designs made by lazy hack designers.

this one, if you go after recognizability, unique traits and color scheme
>distinct silhouette and simple but memorable color palette >distinct hairstyle >manages to be at once mysterious, threatening, and yet slightly childish due to her hair >black rock shooter seems retarded so I dont know much about her personality but this design is so memorable and I'm a huge fan of it
