So if he can make a good diamond with his hands where mister ogre could only make dust does that make him the new strongest man alive?

been waiting on redraws for like 5 days, have received 0 status updates
no idea where our typesetter is, but I don't need him for Sukune Dou so
wanted advice on my script, asked 3 Jap-speaking people for help, 0 replied and one seems to be trying to fuck with us

next chapter out in 23 hours
will we end up behind? will I finally snap? is iams really the best that dog food manufacturers have to offer?
find out next time on I'm Not Happy That I'm Awake

Attached: i-022.jpg (835x1200, 437K)

yes, sukune is the ultimate lifeform

This manga is so fucking shit
How the fuck people put up with it?

I soft dropped Dou after my boi, Oliva, jobbed ingloriously.
Can any of you Bakibros give me a tl;dr: of what happened since? Are we still in the age of Memesashi?

Attached: 1531942198582.jpg (759x1200, 334K)

Wasn't he doing the exact same thing with Musashi, though?
Why swap him for this fat fuck

Just Sukune beating a Pro Sumo, having an IMAGINE moment with a QT who saw his Rockclimbing and him apparently literally purifying the Earth with his stomps.

it's fun to read for a bit, but the writing is an atrocious blob of mashing characters together for flimsy reasons

He's probably the first character to actually surpass Yujiro in some respect, but I don't see him being stronger on the whole

Alright, then I guess I didn't lose much.

Attached: Moe daddy.jpg (997x790, 195K)

Damn he thicc

Attached: yujiro.jpg (720x1366, 488K)

Wow what a weakling

so far sukune seems to have at least a goal in-universe (even if it's not HIS goal).

is sumo really in trouble with the modern generation? foreigners are more interested in being wrestlers (while the japanese are into more modern sports).

>p-please Sukune-dono, don't hurt me or my family!

yujiro used to look human

I don't think he's ruined the manga, writing's been all over the place for years now. And I think it's a nice change of pace to see an antagonist that isn't completely nuts.

Attached: 1550893510225.jpg (835x1200, 229K)

for a reason

Attached: 範馬勇次郎.jpg (395x612, 42K)

We haven't seen what happened to the girl you know

She got the dosukoi alright

Attached: really nigga.jpg (502x472, 48K)

I don't know, he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy that would kill random women he picked up.

>is sumo really in trouble with the modern generation?
no but alarmists continue to proclaim that it is
sumo had a couple of faux-political scandals in the last few years; that's the length of it

>so far sukune seems to have at least a goal in-universe (even if it's not HIS goal)
I'd save it if I expected we'd ever get the chapter out this year, but we're not so Koike is saying here that Sukune 'will take an iron hammer to grand sumo'. The editorial line reads 'conviction beyond his teachings!'
the operative word here is, presumably, 'grand' - so, his goal is either exactly or closely in-line with whatever Kinryuuzan wants

Attached: i-027.jpg (835x1200, 262K)

You never know.
He probably has some insane pent of frustration that he can only release in the bedroom

>Of
Up.
Fuck I'm tired.

Looks like Ichinojo.

baki has been kind of bad and not very worth reading since the conclusion of son of ogre

the peak was new grappler baki. that had the perfect level of surrealism. the first half of son of ogre was good too.

>we can bring a caveman back to life
>we can clone a legendary samurai
>but retsu's death is permanent, sorry

>Tokugawa: Everyone. Tell me. Did I make a mistake?
>Kaku: Fool.
>K: A match, and the allowance of weapons.
>K: Retsu himself asked for both of these things.
>K: Tokugawa-san.
>K: If I were to say "you made a mistake", Retsu would leap right up and sink his teeth into me.
>T: Then... say it...
>T: Say it... "TOKUGAWA MADE A MISTAKE!"
>T: SAY IT!

Don't remind me

Attached: 1432635503161.jpg (470x328, 28K)

I bet they are going to pull something like "it's wrong to play god" or then the author just wanted to flush 4000 years of chinese martial arts down the toilet.

Why

>K: If I were to say "you made a mistake", Retsu would leap right up and sink his teeth into me.

i asked that because this is probably the second time i've seen a story about "got to make sumo relevant again". the first story was on a 1989 super sentai show.

Attached: sumotext.png (359x216, 145K)

Tell me how to achieve this natty.

I can't take a fat men sport seriously with the strongest man after yujiro destroys a tank with his bare hands.

>they tried to bring back retsu but he doesn't want to come back because it would mean his death was meaningless.

It's been slowly going downhill forever, the Maximum Tournament arc was it's peak. The Dou stuff is where it became outright bad though. At least Motobe vs Musashi was fun I guess.

Sumo has lost its relevance in the same sort of way that baseball has lost its relevance in America as the national pastime: that is to say, it really hasn't, but most anyone asked will tell you that it has.

i honestly skip a lot of shit because it doesn't matter, especially after the 2nd manga

i mean the whole pickle thing was just pants on head, but hey that shit is fun as hell

Are sumo even strong? Do they train in any way apart from eating? Isn't it just two fat dudes pushing each other?

literally nothing

If you ever needed an example of a “dead” opponent, you’ll find it in today’s bout between Ishihara and Hattorizakura. As a refresher, Hattorizakura’s career is the epitome of futility. Aki was his eighth straight winless tournament. His bouts are more sumo out-takes than sumo highlights. Today was no exception ... Culturally, we like to cheer for the underdog – if he puts up a good fight. In Hattorizakura’s case, though, he seldom seems to put up a serious fight. The most egregious example was this bout against a befuddled Kinjo on Day 3 of September 2016. In two of four "matta", he basically rolls over and then falls backwards to avoid battle to the stunned laughter of the audience. This brought quite a bit of controversy and the heya was officially admonished. The oyakata received a keikoku from the sumo association.

Career Record: 3-137

Attached: AS20180710003945_commL.jpg (210x300, 32K)

in terms of scale, is 6 chapters (starting from Biscuit jobbing) too long or too short for nothing big happens yet?

>if i can't be the best then i will go down in history as the worst.

that's the only scenario that makes sense.

Where did those 3 victories come from

I don't have a clue, but if i had to guess they were probably the opponent not showing up to the match or forfeiting out of protest

is it alright to start with baki rather than the OG grappler baki? sounds faggy but i dont like the artwork and the fights dont look as interesting

He's obviously planted in as an easy win for some opponents.
They need to look at his connections and high level sumo players who got a free round with his defeat.

It kinda was meaningless.

They train really hard. It is an interesting routine that consists of teppo, hitting a wooden pool (not so diffrent from karate with makiwara punching), shiko (lifitng the leg up for a different, high numbers of times) sparring bouts, stretching and weight exercises. The diffrernce to most pro martial artist (that normally have a job if they are not super famous) is that they take breaks, eat their chankonabe and sleep alot.

Attached: teppo.jpg (366x327, 17K)

youtube.com/watch?v=sH2668Msk58
They do practice bouts and other exercises every day until they physically cannot stand.
For some of the latter, see this: youtu.be/Tgyyy6Ctfes?t=92

He isn't some weird yaochou guy; he's at the bottom of fucking Jonokuchi. He's a stubborn idiot who's being tolerated by a special circumstances heya. As long as he participates and seems to practice, they will continue to accept him. There's some story about how he showed up at the heya one day when he was 16 demanding to be a rikishi and, after the oyakata got his parent's consent, he's never left.

more of "what's the point of a 'fight to the death' if you'll just bring me back?"

>MUH NIPPON STRONG
>Japan haven't had Sumo champion for 19 years

who is kisenosato
and you can't argue that he sucked; he literally permanently destroyed half the muscles comprising his left arm

The problem with this sport is that they deny themselves to evolve(its a recurring theme with japan and one of the reasons the country has problems with things like karoshi for example).
Imagine greece would have kept Pankration for 2667 years but they would not change a god damn thing. Everyone would see it as a brutal relic from ancient times.

>Imagine greece would have kept Pankration for 2667 years but they would not change a god damn thing
They'd still lose to 4000 years of chinese martial arts anyway, just like they did before.

Kek

>doesn't mention that sumo is derived from the superior Mongolian wrestling who came for the sumo money
It was inevitable.

No, it wasn't. It was derived from a Chinese sport which used the arms and head as 'horns'.

I never understood why he continued the series for so long. There will always be a drop in quality if one continues a project for so long. He should have stoped after son of ogre.

Here we are. Sorry; I had to find it again.

>Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) is the most ancient of all Chinese martial arts with a history of over 4,000 years. Its first recorded use, in a military engagement, was when the Yellow Emperor of China fought against the rebel Chih Yiu and his army, 2,697 BC. They used horned helmets and gored their opponents while using a primitive form of grappling. This early style of recorded combat was first called Jiao Ti (butting with horns). Throughout the centuries, the hands and arms replaced the horns while the techniques increased and improved. The name Jiao Ti also changed and was referred to by many names popular at that time in history or by government decree.

jiao ti -> jǐao dǐ -> 角抵 -> 角力 -> すまひ -> すもう -> 相撲 -> sumo

Attached: bak_hero.jpg (2607x880, 571K)

I like him way more than musashi desu

Didn't Judo/Jiu jutsu evolve from Shuai Jiao?

Maybe, but those things definitely didn't come from the same period of it as did sumo. As you can tell, Japan borrowed its original form except for the Chinese's criminally insane horned helmet thing.

who was on the other side?

that was the yoke

It's ike watching americans try to have sex

Musashi was supposed to be billed as the amazingly otherworldly talented swordsman but in reality all we got a guy that was super stronk and fast, there was literally zero feats of swordsmanship that didn't fall under those two categories and no I don't count his make believe sword that make believe hurt you.

>I don't count his make believe sword
That was supposed to be a proof of mastership, not a feat.

There nothing left to ruin after memesashi

The door was simply locked

Attached: 1545212930199.jpg (646x734, 233K)

Too bad Shuai Jiao is fucking garbage and couldn't be used defeat any real wrestling techniques. It is to wrestling what Chinese Boxing is to Pugilism.

There are some Kung fu styles that are not completely hot garbage. Its that mess that was created after banning kung fu in the 50s and the absence of sparring since the use of modern firearms around the 19th century

NANI?!

I like the edit with Trump on the other side.

>I soft dropped Dou after my boi, Oliva, jobbed ingloriously.
This. The author made it clear he's ready to sacrifice the best characters in the story to uphold the Nippon Stronk narrative. It's disgusting.

Long time ago some sumo guys came to Vasque Country. They couldnt lift the huge boulders of a local sport.

This

shit I need to see that

You can do it based Baki provider, you are literaly the only pillar holding the 14 english speaking Baki readers world wide.

This authot never really cared for his characters. If he cared he would have:

1. Let Yujiro grow as a person. Yujiro's characters devolves more and more into nothing but a power fantasy after baki the grappler.
2. Give Baki some spotlight. I never so a so weirdly used main character such as Baki.
3. Make a more cohorent plot that contains more than "my position as the strongest is in danger, quick i need to beat him with loosely connected martial arts techniques that just dive into the body mechanic part JUST TO USE SOME IMAGINARY CHI FATHER SON BULLSHIT AFTERWARDS"

That are at least my impressions.

everything after this page isn't canon

Attached: 1550173342369.png (988x1501, 2.02M)

>1. Let Yujiro grow as a person.
The entire point of Yuujiro's character is that he's at the top and has nowhere else to go, he's around 50 years old and has already chosen how to live his life.
There's no room for growth as a character, and Itagaki already showed a lot of him in the Son of Ogre saga, with him turning out to actually care about being something of a father to Baki at the end of the day, which is much more than you could have said about him until then.
>2. Give Baki some spotlight.
Ugh, no, Baki is the most boring character in the series and his purpose has already been fulfilled.
We need the other characters to do something other than jobbing to the new villain of the week, not even Kinnikuman was that bad on this.
The entire reason the series is on decline is precisely because Itagaki is sending the cast to die or job like little bitches against some powerful japanese fighter and compromising what he has already established throughout two decades worth of publishing, only for Baki to show up and achieve some kind of philosophical victory because even Itagaki realised he can't pull more of the shit he did with the match against Oliva where Baki can suddenly with with raw stats.
The other problem is that Baki is still asspulling his way through victory at the end, and all the sacrifices and jobbing made along the way only to end with this kind of shit is pretty much Itagaki spitting in your face.

Attached: Imminent WASSHOI.jpg (783x486, 200K)

He spitted in the readers face for how long now? That shit is already overdue. I agree that baki s dull as a character but my main point is that the he was used more as a plot device rather than someone that moves the plot forward. It is true that we saw that yujiro as someone that loves him but he also showed him as someone that used baki as a human nunchaku to give him some sorta life lesson. I understand your point on yujiro but for me he could have been used much better. The manga just devolped so many problems over its run, these 3 were just my main problems till son of ogre.

wtf is that physique? How can you be both strong and fat?

Attached: 1552075604197.gif (500x362, 1.71M)

Why does the art for this series look like low quality fetish porn shit?

Answer me.

As you can see they have some kind of worms crawling under their skin, they probably give them strength and reshape their bodies.

Manga should’ve ended after Son of Orge. Needed an epilogue. Kinda Like this:
>10 years later
>Baki and Kozue married, have kids
>Baki is training his son. A more positive version of Yujiro’s training
>”Ya did good kiddo! If you can bruise ya Pa, I’ll get take you to see that movie!”
>Kozue watches, smiling.
>Baki walks his son to cinema and meet elderly Doppo on the way and others such as funny scene with Pickle confused he’s seeing two Bakis
>Later they visit Grandad Yujiro at shrine
>Baki talks to him while son plays in garden about how he’ll always surpass Yujiro then leaves
>Yujiro hugs his grandson as Baki leaves and sheds tears with a huge ass grin on his face

NEVER EVER

> but hey you got "muh nippon stronk" instead

Attached: 1455082555984.jpg (800x1226, 156K)

Is it me or did proportions get even goofier than before.

Attached: D22A7A63-99C1-40E2-BFF9-9EAECB53EFD7.jpg (1305x2081, 1.66M)

Musashi was resurrected so It’s a fine excuse to asspull a broken enemy, same for Pickle. Both of them are in the realm of legends.

But where the hell does this sumo comes from?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomi_no_Sukune

But that’s not him, it’s a normal modern guy that came out of nowhere and who is his successor?

I believe in you, user.

Attached: 1534230669060.jpg (757x1200, 353K)

ITAGAKI YOU FUCKING HACK, END THE MANGA ALREADY

Yes. It's Itagaki's way to not repeat the Musashi arc because of the overwhelmingly negative reaction to it.

Where can I find the missing chapters

Attached: 1533379622546.jpg (1500x1333, 1.04M)

shut the fuck up

So because of fhe negative reaction he decided to do it again, but worse?

Drawing puffed up guys that could be directly from /fit/ is not healthy for the brain

Eat without working out until you’re 400 pounds then start working out, pure fat muscle gains but you will die in your 50 60s if you don’t go full fasting by your late 40’s.

Since the author won't be able to think of any new villains after this arc, he's going to isekai the cast and they'll meet Retsu who went ahead of them in that new world.

Don't give Itagaki ideas

sumo bloatmaxing is unmatched tbqh

Attached: 380lb man.jpg (960x1123, 130K)

is sumo more of a "you got to know the intricacies" thing? casual observers just think it's two fat dudes sissy slapping each other.

It isn't 'intricate' as in complex. It's 'intricate' as in thorough. The number one problem concerning showing sumo videos to "casual observers" is that they won't recognize the scale. People don't get how big and strong the top division guys are. The man in the post above yours is 6'1 and 360+ pounds. He's over 150 pounds heavier than the average rikishi in the starting division - and he's that muscular, so it isn't fat-based weight. And this is someone who's in severe danger of demotion out of the top 5 rankings in sumo at the moment because he isn't fighting well enough. No matter what they may look like, the 'fat' guys in the top division could not be there if they were physically weak. They have muscle underneath the fat. It may not be proportional to the fat, but it is there. Chances are that even the fattest looking guys at the top - Chiyomaru, for example - can still pick up an adult woman with one arm.

I wanna know defeat, bros.

Really makes you think

That is why mankind has developed tools and weapons.

I've been saying it for years but Itagaki used to draw actual humans back in the Original series and he's been devolving his entire career.

It's legal but he's been given stern rebukes regarding that. He still does it though, just not as frequent. Last year against Takayasu after a matta, forgot the basho.

Still, the GOAT does what GOATs do.

was this itagaki's plan all along?

Isn't Sumo horribly corrupt though?

I still stand by the theory that Maria will slap Sukune's shit at the end of the arc.

How do I get into sumo lads?

TFW when you'll never wrestle Enho in your diapers.

honestly? i don't know. i know sumo wants to keep it "japanese only" but the foreigners are the ones most eager to sign up. that info's horribly dated though (read it in an article on Time in the 2000s).

you japanese or a gaijin dog? it'll be easier if you're japanese.

it'll be an uphill battle, iirc stables can only have a fixed # of foreign wrestlers (might be outdated data. either it's more lax now or it's now much worse).

alright!

is olivia fucked berh? did he job as hard as he could?

I'll give it this, more interesting to watch than heavyweight championship boxing.

Attached: 1441660379905.gif (514x510, 94K)

I don't know how much of a compliment that is

With the exception of the hand pocket technique, Oliva tends to job when he tries out disciplines/techniques out of curiosity. He got schooled in aikido/judo by Shibukawa and now in sumo.

The hand pocket stuff was just him fucking around to provoke the Kaioh, he didn't really learn to actually use it, it's more that he jobs to people who aren't so easily intimidated or swayed.
Oliva will never, ever bother learning techniques.

Attached: The audacity of that nigga.png (501x280, 115K)

pretty much every strategy for title matches is "go slow, try to wear him out, win by "points" rather than KO or TKO". boring as fuck.
sumo on the other hand looks like you gotta go haam to survive

Attached: 1438150566479.png (1280x720, 1.16M)

This is a really good thing that you wrote, sumo passes really quickly. And this is interesting to watch. Opposite boxing, where the number of rounds reaches 10 for 4 minutes each, if I'm not mistaken. It is really sad to watch. Athletes are counting their strength on the show, not on the fight. People make bets on them, and people drink beer while they watch it. Disgusting. I watched old Japanese martial arts movies, and they really dislike such shows.

>Yujiro Hanma
>strongest creature on Earth

>kill a whole boxe club anytime he want
>go to the battlefield just for the pleasure to kill some soldiers
>Meet Mohammed Ali

>also, just killed for no reasons the 5 guys who were just training with M.Ali.

Attached: 1552315175137.png (1000x563, 1.61M)

Yujiro watched the Ali vs Superman fight and was impressed.

he's secretly a BBC lover

Yujiro is a power fantasy. Nothing more

Underrated

Yuujiro admired Ali because he was an inspiration and a symbol to many, a symbol that inspired people to get stronger, Yuujiro immensely respected that.

Despite everything, Yuujiro is at its core a rebel who despises abuse of power and bullying powerless people, the entire Vietnam arc and him shitting on any U.S. president is part of that, outside of a not so hidden, specific anti-american sentiment on Itagaki's part.
Yuujiro's idea of strength is that the strong should only deal with the strong, strong people who use their strength to oppress the powerless are scum and not beautiful, which is why he massacres the american army in the Nam arc after witnessing the carpet bombing.
Ali inspires the weak to get strong without being full of himself, which is why he's worthy of respect from him, not to mention that he's still a top tier athlete, which is very beautiful.

Attached: It's ogre.jpg (380x302, 37K)

who was on the other side? I can't remember at all

I don't think he killed the 5 guys.

>you can't shoot me!
>you see, my skin have been treated with salts!

> Yuujiro's idea of strength is that the strong should only deal with the strong, strong people who use their strength to oppress the powerless are scum and not beautiful

That's why he murdered his own wife. Of course. Brilliant writing.

>strong people who use their strength to oppress the powerless are scum and

>thinking that

>That's why he murdered his own wife.
He didn't do it deliberately though, he literally hugged her too much.
He did mourn her and regret it too, don't argue with his philosophy of life.
It's exactly that though, unless you count Yuujiro in the first arc, who was barely even a character outside of the Nam arc.
If you miss this very simple point I don't know what to tell you, it's extremely self evident, he even basically spells it at various points in the manga, both in the flashback with Ali or the parts with Obama.

that's why he killed his wife.
That's why he destroy all those boxing clubs that asked nothing
that's why he often come into a fight when the opponent are already done.
that's why he fight Gaia.
that's why he is literally known for his cruelty.

>Ali inspires the weak to get strong without being full of himself
>Ali
>without being full of himself

Have you ever seen Ali giving ANY interview ever?

You talk nothing but garbage.

>that's why he killed his wife.
>That's why he destroy all those boxing clubs that asked nothing
Again, read my post.
>that's why he often come into a fight when the opponent are already done.
>that's why he fight Gaia.
>that's why he is literally known for his cruelty.
All of those people are strong fighters, nothing wrong with that.
user, it's Itagaki's idealized Ali we're talking about.
You also think Che Guevara was a fucking ripped south american ninja?

DONT GIVE ITAGAKI IDEAS

>All of those people are strong fighters, nothing wrong with that.
Ho, by that logic, if I come to a boxing club tomorrow, that would be ok? Of course, I set a foot in a boxing club, therefor, I'm a strong fighters already, ready to fight "the strongest man on Earth".

I mean ripped south american ninja sounds metal

I did not reach the part with Ali desu, did they seriously made him humble?

it's even in the Netflix show.

>Ho, by that logic, if I come to a boxing club tomorrow, that would be ok?
Why are you being willfully dumb?
It's almost like you didn't actually read the manga at all if I have to explain this shit to you.
>did they seriously made him humble?
The only part where Ali is kinda shown as his real life self is where he shit talks his son, and he still doesn't brag one bit.
For the rest, he's pretty much a saint.

Best post so far

Well this sucks, but Itagaki can write only 3 or 4 personalities anyway and they are all pretty flat, so Ali being anyaway like his real life self wasn't possible.

>He didn't do it deliberately though, he literally hugged her too much.
Is this an ironic post

He was bored at the time. He wasn't nearly as bored while he was fighting the US army.

>is sumo really in trouble with the modern generation
well the yokozuna hasn't been a japanese guy in more than a decade..

It's impossible to say for sure, but the best answer is "probably".
The main problem with sumo is that they regulate themselves. It's not like combat sports in other parts of the world where athletic commissions give licenses to promoters to put on events and fighters to participate in those events, and those athletic commissions in turn have state and government authorities above them to respond to. The Japanese Sumo Association only has to respond to the Japanese Sumo Association, and as long as that continues to be the case sumo s a whole will never be able to claim to be fully devoid of corruption.

Reminder: if you want to beat Usan Bolt, you need to run like this

>exercises every day until they physically cannot stand.
This is so fucking stupid. They also think that having a training session the day before a competition is a good idea. No wonder japanese athletes with a foreign coach always outperform the others who have a jap coach.

Did you know who were the winners of the original battle of Marathon in Greece?

God I always liked the sheer dedication Sumos have to live such a life with so much on the line in these few seconds but I never got into it but these webms are tempting.

motobe is almost unrecognizable.

Sumo is a spurt sport. The tachiai (Initial Charge) takes out a lot of energy and add to the fact that the guy got frustrated after getting a henka from the GOAT.

They should have little sumo guys.

That small kid hold up, but isn't it illegal to grasp anything other than the bandage/diaper thingie?

Only the hair, it is legal to grab the hands or the legs but not the hair. You can grab the nape or the armpits but not the hair on the head.
