Is it worth going back and playing the original at this point? It looked sort of outdated to me but literally everybody I've talked to says they love it.

It's still fun, but Mask of Deception might be a better starting point right now.

Yes. If you haven't played it yet, then do so now. Once you finish, play the rest of the games in the trilogy. If you can wait until 2020 though, then the remake might be better.

It might be for the best I guess. MoT is basically twice as long as MoD which means it would have to be heavily compressed just to fit a 2 cour schedule. The only reason I would want an anime adaptation anyway is to see certain scenes animated and to see if they would extend the epilogue somehow.

Not really. It's made pretty clear towards the end that Haku had it bad for Kuon. The twins will probably stay unsatisfied until Kuon finally takes Haku. At least they get to stay by his side as he finishes up his brother's final request.

I'd say so, though it helps if you watched the first anime from ten years ago. The first ps4 game is a lot of slice of life story stuff with gameplay thrown in, but the second game has a lot more plot stuff going on and more interesting gameplay.
