what a joke of edgy literature
Oyasumi Punpun
Dude you don't understand it he's literally ME
It has one of the best endings to a manga
FUCKING DROPPED
you dont really want to relate to this character
>someone who has done nothing but suffer all his life is sentenced to live
>best ending
A classic example of a seinen targeting teens readers so they can believe they are reading things for "adults" and feel more mature about it.
>Edgy
But look how happy Punpun is!
>it's the "someone told me the manga has existential undertones which means someone must consider it smart, so I must come here in order to pretend I'm more cultured than others" -thread
My favourite
Based. Utter crap manga. Yea Forums confirmed for shit taste.
Also fuck Fire Punch and Gantz, 90's nu-metal garbage.
It's not really edgy because it's not proud of itself nor is it self glorifying. It's meant to be satirical of male adolescence as well as of modern society, but most of all it's a backlash against wish fulfillment and moral endings as a trend in manga as well as the author's own creative process. He's basically saying "Don't like this manga. This manga is about feeling bad about things because you're a bad person who made mistakes when you knew you were making mistakes."
The author apparently had to make this story and troll society in order to overcome his own blockage and express his frustrations. Punpun is a tragic, flawed and weak person, because he was mistreated by society and grew up in a family without love. He's forced into situations that he can't deal with because he never got the fuel that other people use to live.
It's a story about that very lonely, very unfortunate individual that a lot of hardcore manga fans and other losers relate to, except he's just living a real life how it would actually turn out if a person never developed beyond their own bullshit. He suffers because he failed to grow. Failure impacting on an empty person only breeds more failure and suffering, but because society is designed to force someone to exist, he survives anyway despite his internal desolation.
If Aiko had died perfectly tragically in a fire, he might have been totally fine with just the memory of her instead.
Sometimes there's a manga who can be enjoyed ONLY if you are a teen or a manchild. No brofamily friendly bullshit. A unitasker perfected to do just one thing, to bother a lazy young growing mind.
Happy!
Like Evangelion.
>manga
>literature
sounds like punpun, bleach and hxh fans
No other ending would have fit though.
punpun is written by a literal tranny, what did you expect?
punpun is a honorary novel
Very happy!
it is the best ending because it's basically maximum suffering
Most novels aren't literature either.
What are some other sadboi kinos like PunPun?
Sturgeon's law applies to everything in this life.
