The OP is partially right.
This is one of those manga that doesn't really work as an anime.
Then again it's the manga the one that always got the worthwhile praises, while the anime is just a fad the kind of people who watch anime on CR latched on for reasons they don't fully understand.

To the anime's credit, now I can voice the cast in my mind when reading the manga. Despite most of them being newbies, they really hit the spot with the cast. Even Ishigami ended up winning me over and I had a lot of troubles getting used to his voice when he was introduced.
But I kinda agree. The way they break the episode in segments kinda disrupts the flow. Not a deal breaker but it makes the anime not as great as it could have been.
