>Crazed and psychotic >Split personality that randomly turns into a raging killer >Looks crazy even in base form >Intense hatred for Goku >Cool backstory >Has no friends or family, just a deranged father >100% villain >Intimidating and powerful >Takes down the whole Z fighter team >defeated by a one off shot by Goku
versus
>A genuinely nice guy >Character model looks much more likable and sympathetic >Backstory sets him up to be a heroic character >Not really a villain >Not intimidating at all >>Gets his ass handed to him by Gogeta, snore
>wah muh kakarotto! >jobs three times in a row to someone weaker than him He was fucking garbage and only underage spics like him.
Connor Green
Prove that the original Broly's characterization (not his physical design) was created by Toriyama.
Juan Walker
>Cool Backstory
GOKU CRYING MADE BROLY ANGRY
Isaiah Johnson
Agreed, they made Broly soft in the new movie. Stuff is softer in general now, and Super follows that.
Jack Jackson
>Cool backstory >Exiled from planet Vegeta along with his dad out of fear that he was way too powerful for other Saiyans OK, that's not as b... >Hated Goku because the latter cried and the former hated him to death because of this NOW THAT'S RETARDED.
Kayden Sanders
>Akira has gone totally soft
Bardock is the proof of that..
Samuel Reed
I like both.. However, I prefer the original crazt evil Broly.
Thomas Perez
(OP) Old broly transformation : Best transfrom in all of dbz, second close is super vegeta or ss1 vegeta.
New broly transfrom : generic my *insert important person here* was killed waaaah.
His backstory is more reasonable, but that doesn't make it better. Old broly strength was he was The legendary super saiyan and didn't need any more story. We knew he was crazy strong, dangerous and could snap anytime. I also hate how they turned saiyans into humans, i thought every saiyan was a warrior. So was gokus mother not.
I agree Araki is soft now. He can't make a broly movie without having some green goblin waifu love interest so the new dragon ball fans aren't bored. Just sums up the whole super fanbase. Everything now is soft now
Thomas Gray
>personality typical anime flashbacks #101 and then shouting all the time during battle is personality these days
Ian Phillips
Toriyama has fucking alzheimers and needs to be unplugged from his life support.
The original Broly was meant to be an integrating personification of the original idea of a Super Saiyan. The closest thing to this in the original manga was Vegeta in his fight against Cell, while Goku never demonstrated the personality side of the archetype when turning SS. Broly was never meant to be a specific individual character, just the essence of the idea/archetype.
Now since Toriyama squandered away all his billions on hookers and shota, he needs to pimp away his masterpiece series by whoring every character away as some drama play faggot.
Saiyans in general are made soft now. They were supposed to be barbarians but now they're just ordinary aliens that just happen to fight.
Jeremiah Perry
Sorry about that I've been on jojo threads for too long.
Kayden Morales
>I also hate how they turned saiyans into humans, i thought every saiyan was a warrior. So was gokus mother not. I hate that too.. The saiyans new past was dissapointing almost like minus Bardock and specially Gine existence. No problem with the new broly.. But I prefer the old broly..
Henry Hughes
check em
Michael Hall
>underage spics like him Nah, those love Broly. Old spics are the ones who keep saying first Broly is the best
Easton Phillips
You its apparent right off the bat with Super that the tone has shifted.
DBZ was edgy, masculine, "dark" at times. It had humor but DBZ knew when it was time to get serious. Stakes are high because the antagonists are actual real threats.
Super in some respects is just a watered down DBZ. Ultra Instinct is probably the only good thing about Super, just for it being unique, but besides that, its all meh.
The problem is that Goku and team have befriended literal Gods now. This diffuses any kind of tension a villian would create. Akira kind of fucked the series.
The only possible villian would be Zeno or the Grand Minister. That's basically it.
But yea in his old age Akira has gone soft. Super is a snoozefest compared to DBZ
Luis Perry
I HAVE MET A LOT OF KILLERS IN MY DAY. WE HAVE A FEW OF THEM EVEN HERE AND I CAN TELL YOU, BROLI IS A KILLER IN THE PUREST SENSE, BY THE LIKES YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN. HE IS A MAN IF FIRE AND FURY
And how did they reach space if they were all barbarians and don't say Frieza because they were a space civilization before they met Frieza, the anime's backstory had them invade the Tuffle's planet, them being barbarians and a space faring civilization at the same time is a plot hole made by the anime
Liam Phillips
It's basically a choice between Space Tarzan and REEEEEE KAKAROT.
Nicholas Lee
>And how did they reach space if they were all barbarians How many Saiyans does it take to build a space rocket? -King Kai
John Thompson
pretty sure even the huns and mongols had non-combatants
Robert Miller
>Huns and Mongols
Allied tribes, elders and the wierd slaves-maybe-familymembers until they prove themselves. The Mongols succeeded despite their very low numbers because most of them can fight, they learned to ride before they learned to walk and usage of a bow was expected of every teenager.
Joseph Allen
I'll take the second one
Benjamin Morris
So are the Saiyans Space Huns or are they Space Spartans?
Old school Goku was about beating the shit out of people and would get genuinely mad at them, but DBS Goku is just like HEHEH THIS REALLY DOKI DOKIS MY WAKU WAKU I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW STRONG THIS GUY IS AND PROBABLY BE FRIENDS WITH HIM!
The fact that Freeza was brought into the ToP to do a Friendship Kamehameha with Goku shows just how much the characters have fallen off the rails.
John Robinson
>The original Broly was meant to be an integrating personification of the original idea of a Super Saiyan. Imagine thinking this hard about a movie villain for something that isn't even an hour long
Connor Reyes
You mean the filler
Isaac Jenkins
>but DBS Goku is just like HEHEH THIS REALLY DOKI DOKIS MY WAKU WAKU I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW STRONG THIS GUY IS AND PROBABLY BE FRIENDS WITH HIM! Do you remember why Goku left Vegeta alive?
Or why he gave Freeza his energy?
Or why he didn't just murder Dr. Gero early?
Thomas White
Yes, he avoided killing virtually all of his enemies and yes he wanted to face them at their strongest - but my point is that he wasn't doing that with a shit-eating grin on his face.
I don't think he had a shit eating grin on his face when he heard that Zamasu killed his family or when Jiren tried to kill his friends.
Jack Davis
he had a shit-eating grin on his face long before and long after those very short specific moments.
It''s hard to build tension and drama when the main character is always HEHEH DOKI DOKI WAKU WAKU
He also also had his underdog role completely eliminated and replaced with Vegeta.
Isaac Martin
>Do you remember why Goku left Vegeta alive?
Yes because he knew if Vegeta came back, Goku would just own him again.
>Or why he gave Freeza his energy? Because Freeza was fucking pathetic at that point and there was no point in mudering such an awful being. Goku had transcended himself while Freeza wasn't even worth killing.
>Or why he didn't just murder Dr. Gero early? Because at that point Toriyama had become a hack and ruined Goku's character. None of the Cell or Buu arc makes any sense.
Yeah the second one seems better. Not everyone needs to be misunderstood good guys or is that too hard for your generation to understand. Broly was the saiyan of legends. He needed to be the way he was done previously.
Daniel Turner
So this is what makes him legendary
Levi Davis
Remove the abridged part from that pic and its 100% accurate. You may also add the new "we dont need a proper dbz bluray, we just want more super"
Fucking retard. Vegeta kicked the shit out of Goku
Evan Collins
I wouldn't say that he jobbed, more like all of the wins against him were ass pulls/deus ex machina.
First time it was with the combined might of the various fighters, but that doesn't make any sense since they were all half dead. Goku was also nowhere near his full strength and was constantly getting his shit wrecked left and right, but suddenly the addition of another weakened put him over Broly somehow?
Second time he was clearly winning the beam struggle without much effort against the family, then a tiny energy blast from a exhausted near dead kid Trunks somehow makes it to where he can't add more energy to his attack causing him to lose.
Third time nothing they were doing was working and they only won because water was his weakness which is retarded. Actually the third movie in general is retarded and some of the second movie but it wasn't as bad as the last one at least. Second movie doesn't have much going for it besides the fighting. But I guess that is what you get/want if you're watching a DBZ movie the first place.
But yeah most people him which still like him are old fans or whatever.
Nicholas Barnes
@185669930 no more (you)s for you
Dominic Watson
WHOOPS! Here. Let me fix that for you.
Isaiah Edwards
Doesn't Broly not really exist?
James Moore
From what I remember, Toriyama saying anything that isn't a part of the main canon is canon within their own universe or something like that.
Owen Morgan
>feats >scaling >zenkai >multipliers ???
David Thompson
Not really. He didn't write the original Bardock special and even said the reason he enjoyed it was because it's something he would never come up with. The guy has always been "soft" and everyone in this thread is getting upset about shit he never had much to do with in the first place.
Camden Wood
>Soft
>His original storylines: Planet destroying supervillain reigns terror over the galaxy, nobody can do shit. blows up planets, makes Vegeta cry like a bitch then kills him, blows up krillan for fun, etc
Kid Buu actually, literally destroys the entire earth and everyone on it
A lot of Tori's storylines, if anything, were a bit edgelordy
Jaxon White
He realized his fan base is a bunch of retards who didn’t get the message of White genocide and decided to cash in and retcon to piss off his sub 90 IQ fan base. Based.
Tyler Reyes
Older Brolly had no personality and new Brolly is a hero begin with.
Jackson Kelly
Now if we could get them both together to do the fusion dance we'd have a complete and satisfying character.
Isaac Powell
We will probably get old canon vs new canon conflict at some point since DBspics would eat anything.
Joseph Myers
Kek
Justin Parker
Not gonna lie that does sound pretty stupidly awesome, I'd watch it.
Luke Turner
Original Broly: >REEEEEEEEEE MUH KAKAROT
New Broly: >actually a decent and somewhat likable antagonist
That's what I call progress
Connor Campbell
The previous Broly was more relatable
Lincoln Kelly
Not really, he was defined pretty much entirely by his obsession with Goku.
Zachary Morgan
This is pretty much a collage of the typical amerimutt dbz fan. Add a greentext that says "Bruce Faulconer is super cereal and better than the lackadaisical jap ost trash" or something along those lines.
Henry Russell
Yeah, everyone can relate, lol
Cameron Ross
Nah most people are more obsessed with either Gohan or Vegeta
Julian Murphy
Got off my phone to post this and the thread died. Broly movie is traced.
Josiah Lewis
>Cool backstory that's where you fucked up your b8 m8
Tyler Rodriguez
>Do you remember why Goku left Vegeta alive? Because Vegeta was the last pureblooded saiyan left in existence aside from himself. He begged Yajirobe to spare him for that reason. >Or why he gave Freeza his energy? Because Freeza was pathetic, weakened and dying and he felt sorry for him. >Or why he didn't just murder Dr. Gero early? Because he didn't see Gero as a threat
Oliver Roberts
>he hates Goku because when they were infants, he cried a lot beside him
The difference between new broly and old broly. In the new movie when his dragging gokus face through the ice and then throws him, new broly screams like a retard while old broly would have followed up with this bad boy.
