why is newer anime so shit? i got into anime watching older stuff and legitimately cannot even stand any original anime lately. the only decent anime that have come out recently are just adaptations of older material.
New anime

Sounds like you have shit taste.
What are doing those two not killing eachother?
Why would you fill a car up with water? Are they stupid?
name a legit good series that has come out in the last 5 years then
lmao OP what a fag. Let's make this thread better.
You have ten seconds to prove why Eientei isn't the best faction Yea Forums.
alright. their faction leader is an entitled bitch who cant even be killed, the second in command is an old hag who's delusional enough to follow said princess, and the entire rest of the faction is furrybait. clearly the hakugyokurou is the best faction
the hot tub car is real user

>why is newer anime so shit
Until recent seasons it was significantly better than previous seasons.
But I'll admit, I lost interest last couple seasons.
i feel that.
konosuba was pretty alright but everything else just feels like a repeat of the season before

most of what you mentioned either isn't that great (girls last tour, one punch man) or was made more than 5 years ago (steins gate, wolf children)

Have you considered that the problem is just your shit taste?
Untrue, the only reason you say that is because you only remember the good stuff of the past.
I'll let you in on a little secret: there were a lot of shitshows back in the days too.
No, he's pretty spot on
Remember when people didn't constantly wear rose-tinted nostalgia goggles? Ah. Those were the days.
perhaps.
im not trying to deny that there weren't bad shows back then, i think there were plenty i assure you.
but still we haven't gotten anything the caliper of shows like cowboy bebop or evangelion since steins gate in 2009.
my problem is that nothing feels really original anymore and everything feels like it follows a template
>Remember when people didn't constantly wear rose-tinted nostalgia goggles?
No. There have been faggots saying old shit was better for forever. There's that one Usenet post I keep seeing posted occasionally from the 90s of someone complaining about the same stuff people complain about these days still.
Because Cowboy Bebop or EVA were specifically outside of the norm which is why they are loved now. You forget you're cherry picking precurated, in everybody's top 100 anime list, stood the test of time, anime. You're not remember the bad because you didn't watch the bad. But you now see the entire season from Day 1 online because the internet wasn't like it in the 80's and 90's. What I'm saying is that anime hasn't changed; your perspective has. You can download 15 shows a day with no issue, where as in the 80's you had to hope somebody in Guam or based in Okinawa was tapping shit and got a mate to dub it and you got the VHS bootleg copy in a garage sale.
I unironically agree. Sturgeon's law rules anime with a fist; I would say 98% of all anime is absolute garbage.
I just saw pic related today which was four hours long. It was one of the greatest films I've ever seen. Not even Evangelion compares to it.
Based OUATIA poster.
you've got a point, but like i said, there isn't much that specifically deviates from the norm lately.
>98% of all anime is absolute garbage
>approximately 10,000 anime exist
>therefore, 200 anime series are not absolute garbage and are worth watching
BTFO
OTP.
How well was the magic, monsters and fighting done user?
Where'd you pull that from?
There probably is; it just isn't that popular. I can't say I've gone through all them; but most era's have a template. EVA was originally just yet another Mecha anime trying to compete with Gundam yet Anno got depressed and threw his love of Christian mythology into a script and it became different which is why people like it. Yet that's the point, it wasn't anything particularly different originally. Cowboy Bebop was in an era where bounty hunters were big (Outlaw Star, Trigun etc) and did something different with it by combining noir aesthetics and a 'bad end'. Again, my point is, that even the 'good' stuff didn't deviate far, which is why it was successful, but it deviated enough to get people to enjoy it more than others.
>thinly veiled rec thread

Kaguya is holding a Ramune bottle while Mokou is blushing. And they're both naked.
I'd say the usual stuff whenever they're not fighting.

This is why nobody will take you seriously my man.
OP is so fucking generic it's hilarious
well yea its pretty much never been an unpopular opinion.
however i do think anime will get better eventually, most of the reason its bad now is because its by and large more profitable to produce piles of garbage than to make something actually good.
maybe if the market for anime crashes completely we'll be back to a time when people make anime because they want to produce quality series instead of studios pressuring the producers into making as much as they can

Yeah man, anime was so much better back in my day, with shows like K-on and Haruhi. Wish we could get those days back.

Of course older media seems better. All the shitty older shows were forgotten to time, and the only things that were remembered were remembered for a reason, usually because they were good. Newer shows seem worse because we haven't quite sorted out the quality from the shit yet. Use your head, user.
SDM? What does that stand for?

Just go watch more older shows. Unless you've watched thousands of anime then you probably have more old classics to catch up on. Have you seen every Dezaki anime yet? Then stop bitching and get watching.

Out of the ~200 anime I have seen in the past 5 years these are the good ones. Not a good rate but I don't think the rate would be much better in any other year.
Friendly reminder that TV anime's generally been of the same general quality for the last 30 years. except that on average, animation's actually gotten consistently better.
The only valid argument that old anime could be objectively better are OVAs and movies.
Overproduction and no new ideas.
based. there was some interesting stories but japs wont buy them because its not same old high school shit drama they consume all the time. someone should really tell them about patreon
