KF1 wasn't fucked in the first place. It unfucked the franchise on a meta-level, but as far as story and characters go, it wasn't fucked to begin with.

Also the story KF2 is telling isn't a continuation of KF1. Everything that happened between then and now, all of it is in limbo because the director just doesn't know. He believes Mine and the KFP board will handle that. The real Kemono Friends you became invested in is dead, but do not mourn for its loss. Remember it for the smiles and hope it gave you and continues to give you as you hope Kaban, Serval and Boss find humanity.

Latest news from 2ch is that in an interview Kimura talked about how in his first meeting he was given a thick book called the Bible and was expected to make an anime out of it. This more or less confirms that Mine now is the tyrant in charge of the series.

To build off upon that, episode 1 introduces us and builds upon Kaban and Serval's chance meeting and developing their newly found friendship as they travel across the savanna, culminating in the two working together to defeat something neither of them could defeat alone and ends with the introduction to the actual guide character, Lucky-san.
Episode 2 introduces us to the park properly as we meet all sorts of Friends and come to realize the park is flourishing will all sorts of life and it isn't anywhere near as vacant, empty, or wild as episode 1 might have led people to believe. We're also then introduced to the main form of travel of the show, but the characters have to work together to put it together. This introduction to the park is so pivotal it is done using 2 and 3, the former with the trek through the scenic route and seeing the divide between regions in episode 3 from the sky, giving us a clear idea of where exactly they are and how alien the park truly is.
Episode 4 builds upon this mystery finally nudging at fact that everything is abandoned or in ruins, making the viewer question what exactly happened at the end of the episode.
This is all interspersed throughout the episodes and one could therefore consider episodes 1-3 to be the intro and episode 4 being the kicker, the true start of their adventure (as they never actually leave until the end of episode 3).

YES it should be recounted that it was one-sided at first. Kaban did not trust serval one bit, but needed her to lead the way. Only through their struggles did she even begin to understand serval (took two episodes). After that, she met other friends who helped (thus establishing that not only was serval nice, they all were), BUT, there was the thing Hippo said (you gotta make your own way).
in the light of these two factors we can surmise:
1. Kaban knows nothing (can't remember but there is an anime influence here)
2. Kaban learns Friends are friends
3. Kaban learns that even though Friends are friends, she cannot expect others to come to her aid if they feel threatened themselves.

however, in the beginning of KF1 at least we have an answer: Serval is known to most everyone. she may not realize it (her memory is clouded) but that is why everyone is willing to work with her.
They don't trust Kaban at first but are willing to give Serval the benefit of the doubt.

I think the most telling point in episode 1 that Kaban was beginning to trust Serval was when she fell down while climbing the hill to the water hole, but gets back up and the two smile at each other and continue walking. There's no dialogue, but it's effective enough in telling the viewer that they're on friendly terms now compared to the start of their trek.

I would argue that the very story it is telling depends on the characters of KF1 failing and becoming separated, which would very well be the death and ruination of all the goodwill, optimism and momentum the ending of the show was building up to for a direct continuation. The end of their friendship, which was built up throughout all of KF1, is tied to the core themes of the series and by ending it is to say that these core beliefs the show is built around don't really matter even in-universe.

It might be a very drastic way to interpret the context of the show and its story in regards to the original anime on a meta level, but taking this line of reasoning I feel it should be inclined upon myself to condemn the show for what it is. However, I do also feel that it would not be fair upon the studio itself to judge a show before it is ended so I would have to ultimately agree that the best course would be to wait and see.

Since the week before episode 8 aired, I marathoned up to that point, got really hooked because of episode 3, fell in love with the show because episode 5 was so funny, and after I finished watching episode 7 I realized I didn't know who the fuck Tsuchinoko or Sandcat were because I accidentally skipped episode 4.

Kemono Friends became my go-to relaxing show after a long day of work, and since I didn't have Internet for long while, I ended up rewatching it several times and it became my most favorite anime ever. I can rewatch it a million more times and still feel the same happiness, joy, and excitement as the first time I've seen it. I love it. I wish KF2 would stop existing though.

They already showed what the product is. It should be open to review. Sales will go up if people say "I enjoyed seeing this on the television!", and on the reverse it can serve as a warning to unaware buyers if people say "this was garbage, don't buy it". "Raiding" would not prevent people who actually like the show from writing good reviews. But there are no good reviews. Just like PV1 has less than 10% like ratio, and niconico surveys are 7% rating. Tatsuki did this in Kemurikusa too. They finally untied Wakaba's ropes in ep7, but they did it offscreen. They didn't need to add an explicit scene to say "We trust you, now let's untie you". They just did it.

S1 introduced a lot of intriguing things too and didn't do anything with them.
And then S2 even retconned some.

S2 basically confirmed for me that the franchise isn't made to have an actual story. While the first season didn't develop any ideas and just stuck to a cgdct format, S2 did they same but also disregarded whatever ideas were introduced in S1.

I think that's why people hated episode 7 and 8 even more than ep5/6. 6 was probably the worst episode because it dug up Kaban's corpse and raped it, so of course people aren't going to like that. That's why it's important for characters with such little screentime to have a clear, concise personality immediately clear to the viewing audience, which is why most of the Friends in KF1 are so simple, but really standout. It's when you have Friends like pic related who appear in every episode who aren't exactly always friendly they're given the time throughout all the episodes to grow and develop, given that they have considerably more screentime compared to most other Friends.

Given that, it must make sense that he should've been way, way more careful of how he phrased his answers if he didn't want to end up angering, disappointing, or misleading people. It's just bad PR.

You say that as if the hate isn't justified when the actions of the company hiring the studio to make it are entirely reprehensible. It's not the fault of the studio for making the anime, sure, but it's part of the job package to accept and attempt to alleviate any possible misgivings about the show they're trying to make and Tomason and KFP have been failing that in spades ever since the announcement of KF2. They've literally done nothing to better their situation ever since the seiyuu shield failed. It's why I absolutely cannot accept KF2. Emotionally, it makes me fucking livid. Thinking more logically, it makes no sense thematically to separate them forever when the whole theme of friendship is symbolized and built around the very friendship of the three.

If the reason for killing Serval off is to show that friendship doesn't last forever, that's completely contradictory to the core theme of the show. If the reason for killing Serval is because they are too afraid to continue where Yaoyorozu was forced to leave off, it shows they have no faith in their own ability to live up to the standard set before them.

The humour is extremely subtle, and without a poor grasp of animal facts most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Kyururu's human-superiority outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Mine's literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE.
