It's a visual medium who cares how shit the story is

Story, direction and overall panel flow triumphs over mere good/great art every time.
Only focusing on art quality is the sign of a buffoon.
Also mangaka thread I guess.

The part where he fought those two speed ninjas was so fucking boring.

>overall panel flow
>not under visual storytelling
What did OP mean by this?

I agree. I don't think most people only concentrate on visuals/art quality though. Themes, characters, and the directing (whether that's panel design and flow in manga or more film-like directing in anime) are the things that people that complain about plotfags typically talk about.

Substance over style is the cheapest way to success
Style over substance is the most expensive way to fail

The heroes and monsters of the OPM world are really boring. They only have superstrength, super martial arts or telekinesis.

>They only have superstrength, super martial arts or telekinesis
That's the same to the heroes though. Add technology though.
Genos, metal knight and House of Evolution relied on science

>thinking most people care about substance
>thinking you can't make something flashy without spending a lot of money
There are a lot of people that fall for hype. The best way to make your anime a success is to make something like Gurren Lagann that's big and flashy with no substance but that also doesn't break the bank on the way it communicates the hype and style. You just have to structure everything in just the right way that it's successful with the people just looking for the next hot blooded hype fest and this doesn't require having either substance or expensive style.

A good animation requires hundreds of animators
A good story requires a single writer
