There are exactly 4 individuals in universe stronger than the MC and it's just a matter of time that the MC uses his Cell style absorption powers to eclipse them.

There might be more interest in EP24 though since that's an anime-original spin-off episode featuring a rather popular character who has yet to be introduced outside of the WN or the untranslated parts of the LN.

I personally feel that the 3rd Season's plot was my favorite of the three, because it takes all of the elements and factions introduced in S1 and S2 and finally starts bringing all of the set pieces together. I like the politics and interactions that are made between each group.

Sadly the animation budget seemed to fizzle out near the end. I'd recommend it if you want to finally see the plot really go somewhere, but the visuals aren't as consistent as they were in the previous seasons.

Every battle is also resolved in an instant. No fights take longer than an episode, even a "war" only took 2 episodes and that was the only instance for a battle to last more than an episode in the entire season and strictly speaking was not even the same battle.
That's completely in opposition with battle shounen where things drag out with antagonists "not yet at their final form" or protagonists first needing to channel their nakama-power.

Even if there's a lot of risk involved, the battles have a different tone than your average shounen battle and feud with the villain thanks to the slime being op as fuck. They're more similar to your average problem solving moments in other type of shows: the slime would rather kill the alpha wolf and add the rest of the pack to his ranks, he would rather trick the dumb and slutty demon to avoid damage to his city instead of fighting her for bragging rights, etc.

LN also added the second visit to Dwargon and the diplomacy/trade talks with the Beast Kingdom - then the manga further added all the fortunetelling stuff - the tanned elf (dark elf?) who was later reused to rewrite a bit how Rimuru finds out about the dwelling of spirits. So a lot of it is an adaptation decision. But mostly it's aboutestablishing how Rimuru "ticks" at this point. Much of it all was build-up for the arc that the manga is about to start now. It's also the arc where WN readers really got "hooked" into the story back in the early translation days.

It's dumb but it's relatively original. The shitty fights are more of an afterthought.
