Josuke, Jolyne and Johnny are all really good, solid choices that require no explanation.
Joseph is a decent choice in itself but likely that the person is an animeonly and/or a hamonfag, proceed with caution.
Jonathan and Jotaro are rare choices, but those that pick them would surely have their reasons behind it and could be interesting to talk to.
Gappy's character hasn't concluded yet, and it isn't fair to rank him against the others.

So someone like Johnny, who has loadsa development and is proactive in the story, is a little higher than someone like Jonathan, who has loadsa development but is more reactive to Dio's story. (Jotaro's problem is he has no development and only acts in response to DIO's and Joseph's actions.)

Even if HP being Jonathan's stand was a retcon, it doesn't change things in-universe, or the importance of DIO's first stand-ability being shown to be the same as an existing Joestars, with his second stand having the same ability as another one, you cute little idiot.

I mean, you're not entirely wrong. Jonathan was this overly serious, tragic character which had his fate intertwined with Dio's and had the solemn sense of duty to take him down. So when Joseph comes along, it's the perfect contrast. The guy is brimming with talent but is a lazy, spoiled fuck that chases after tail and is generally much more funnier and livelier than grandad.
