find an sketch book by a jap artist you really like, study, deconstruct how they draw, try to replicate what you see, try to get your muscles used to making the kinds of shapes they do. measure everything. how much space do they put between the eyes. how many head talls for they draw their characters (none of thse are things you posts, they're studies.) If you do it right and for long enough, you will begin to instinctically understand where they place things. you can then apply these things into your own toolbox. oh but you will still need to grind fundies if you dont want to stay deviantart tier forever.

Tumblr is a decent idea conceptually; a blog system with 'reblogging' and tags, in that sense it's somewhat easy to reach an audience and interacting with it.

Problems are twofold (well, threefold now that they b& NSFW).
First, the people running the site are a bunch of fucking alcohol fetal syndrome numbskulls who can't do anything right to save their lives, meaning features break all the time, sometime staying broke perpetually (some features have been broken for a decade), or absolutely stupid features or changes nobody in a million years asked for are implemented, making the site less userfriendly. Arguably, these people are actually evil, but not for any of the reasons stated here.
The second are the swathes of neurotic screaming numbskulls that make up a large percentage of the userbase, they need no introduction I think.

Some people who could actually make and run a website, and moderate it, should rip off Tumblr's base concept, and do it better.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the idea of "reblogging" and "retweeting"? I find that when I view someone's "blog", that feature only distracts from the content I'm actually interested in (that specific artist's work, for example) and gives me lots of things to skip.

It lets you share work you like with others and gives artists publicity. If they didn't exist it would be much more difficult to get your name out.
If you're specifically talking about twitter then you can just look at the media tab to see the artists work only.

I guess for artists on twitter, the "media only" solution works. But in general, it'S still kinda chaotic.

You have the option to turn off retweets in peoples' feeds on twitter so you don't have to look at them if you don't want to. But if they were completely separated then they wouldn't reach as many people as you'd like. And the media-only solution works perfectly fine.
If you want an organized look at someone's art then you won't find it on twitter. It's a social media platform first and art archive second.
