Grip tape facing in fucks up your clothes so most people who skate long enough have grip tape facing out or hold it in such a way that the board doesn’t stick to the clothes. Plus when people do hold with grip tape facing in they almost always rest the trucks on the arm to make it easier to hold and also minimize board cloth contact. Holding the board with grip tape facing in and having your hand hold the board right at the center of the deck is quite unorthodox.
