Naruto isnt about hard work. It never was brainlets. Remember, sasuke is set up as the rival character, and he works just as fucking hard as naruto. It doesnt make sense to make a story about hard work vs talent when the villain works hard too.

Naruto is about struggling against destiny from beginning to end. From episode all the way to great ninja war. This struggle evolves at many points in the story, on both a personal and world level, and the ending does not discredit it. Indra and Ashura reincarnates may be ninja Jesus yeah but they are also fated to feud endlessly and bring about the circumstances that will lead to world domination by Kaguya. But this doesnt happen because Naruto and Sauce kick her shit it in and then make up afterward.

Not saying Naruto didn't do a lot of shit on his own, just that a lot of the late story stuff invalidates his earlier struggles by making him even more of a "chosen one" than he already was

He was the chosen one because it was foretold that he would get to that point through hard work. It wasn't just handed to him by any means.

I think the biggest sin the series commited was having Naruto learn Sage Mode in virtually a week. Jiraya worked his ass off to achieve it at a much earlier age than Naruto, experienced more loss than Naruto to boost his drive, and yet Naruto still completely destroyed Jiraya's progress in a week or two. Naruto worked far less harder than Jiraya to accomplish something Jiraya couldn't. Jiraya even needed the help of Ma and Pa in order to achieve the form, and even then it was incomplete. Because Jiraya, unlike Naruto, wasn't talented. He needed help from others. He put precious time and effort into becoming strong and accomplished rising to the top. Why was Naruto so much more talented than Jiraya? lol literally his bloodline. [Neji was right]

Naruto had to learn the skills of a ninja and perfect them. Jiraiya wasn't a perfect sage, kakashi barely taught Naruto anything about control, shit it took asuma to help him learn his elemental affinity and even then Naruto almost killed himself using it.

I will concede that neji was right and that ultimately fate decided what was better and worse, but it wasn't just handed to Naruto like Six oath Sage mode was, he did bust his ass for it

In my own personal headcanon, he did. I didn't even watch the ninja war arc, I just looked at some clips of Naruto fighting in those forms on youtube and then I watched the last episode.
