It was actually pretty close, it's just that the narration works better in the novel, plus some minor world-building details were cut out. I know that not everyone enjoyed the work, especially considering it had bisexual characters which tends to send /pol/ posters into a frenzy, but it must be a real shame not to be able to enjoy a work that's both unique and actually has depth.

It's pretty difficult to judge Monogatari vs e.g. Madoka. There are like 100 eps of it so naturally the total enjoyment you get out of it is going to be higher than any regular 1 or 2 cour series, but relative to the time spent watching it, the enjoyment you get out of Madoka is probably higher.

If you take this to logical extreme, great majority of anime adaptions would be UNENDING as they didn't conclude the story regardless if there's an intention to continue the anime or not.

Realize how much you don’t even know. Realize why a ton of writers in the industry said it had surpassed Evangelion. Realize Madoka Magica is the single greatest anime series on planet earth.

I'm gonna say in terms of anime with the largest influence in the industry for the decade, it's easily SAO, or Attack on Titan. SAO started the end of the battle harem LN adaptation's reign (though it's highest would be later with Mahouka) and began the reign of isekai fantasy. AoT similarly ushered in the new faces of popular shonen as the Big Three were winding down.

Penguindrum was a solid 6/10. Way too repetitive, reliant on pseud metaphors, and generally up its own ass to be an actual classic, even if had some decent characters and great visuals.

Honestly I do not think anime has reached decent depth yet, as a whole. Madoka and eva are arguably deeper than other anime but from a global perspective they're nothing amazing. As to why that is I don't know, perhaps because action and cool visuals are easier and cheaper to make, or maybe it's simply that there is no interest.

Episode ten is the youngest episode to make the god list in Japan. It’s the single greatest episode of anime to ever air when you take into account everything that went into it. There’s like twelve moments that could amount to the best moment in any normal anime series. The directing and music is unmatched and the way everything comes together is one of the greatest things you can watch and that’s not even mentioning the the way the ending theme switch with the lyrics shown changed the entire perspective of the song.

There’s times you say something is top ten or top five or even top three but I don’t think this can be argued unless the person watching it didn’t witness episode ten of Madoka themselves. It’s actually a masterpiece.*

Actually the only art respected within the industry from the outside is Inu Curry art because the duo is actually composted of two artists. Look up some of their stuff. The stuff in Evergarden is detailed and they use some fancy filters but in the end it’s just typical anime design with a lot more detail and fluid animation. Very much different than this.

It is among the very view pieces of Japanese animation that you would ever consider presenting to somebody when you're trying to justify legitimizing anime as an art form. And despite its flaws the same can be said for Violet Evergarden itself.

The Inu Curry duo not only does ACTUAL art in anime but are respected as artists. Veg character design is basic bitch character design and no amount of detail and animation will change that. user, Madoka while airing was the most discussed anime since the start of Yea Forums. There was like five threads up at all times after a while and each one hit bump limit if it wasn’t deleted. There should never be a reason more most of the comments in a thread to be about how boring an anime is if it’s not true. I’m a Kyo fan and I thought the anime was boring. Honestly, that's a hard question. Because I can't think of an Anime of this past decade with the same influence as Eva, or Gundam. Violet looks nice, but there hadsn't been a flood of imitators. Even Madoka hasn't caused a seismic shift in the anime landscape like Eva did.

Madoka is 12 episodes so on an episode to episode basis Madoka made like 600% more profits.

KF is 12 episodes so on an episode to episode basis KF made like 60000% more profits.

Moe never went anywhere and music anime didn’t blow up after K-On. It wasn’t very influential to the point where Madoka was.
