Can confirm. The two franchises need to do some sort of big collaboration. Symphogear is only getting more successful as the seasons continue, so a collab with Nanoha could be what gives the Nanoha series a second wind.

Is Reflection worth watching? I never hear it mentioned anywhere and it has an incredibly low viewer count on MAL.

This. Nanoha was a hot lower-top-tier franchise franchise (think Index) that people were very excited about. They could have come back from a year or two of those shitty manga spinoffs that never should have been treated like the primary continuation of the franchise and blown it out of the water with the second Subaru and Tia season that should have been in planning since before they finished StrikerS. However, they spent EIGHT goddamn years doing nothing but riding the momentum with Vivid. Now it's pretty much just another cow in the massive cute girl action series herd.

That's easier said than done. Assuming that we're dealing with two products that are relatively equally present in the public conscious, it's significantly easier to get a new customer to try your product than it is to bring back a customer who's already left. That would be fine if Nanoha's story was finished. But it isn't, it's been over 5 years on hiatus and it needs a conclusion. I don't care how controversial Force is, reboot the thing if one must, but what this franchise needs is to give closure to the original Nanoha many fans grew up with. I have a feeling that is a big reason why the series has been fading away in popularity these days, sure movie Nanoha is nice, but she's not the original Nanoha people grew to love.

I'm looking forward to the movies and don't really care about what comes after. There was a rumor about a possible remake/reboot but I don't think it's true. Definitely no more things like Vivid Strike, though, I'd rather get nothing at all.

We know that it and Reflection sold like half as many tickets as 1st and 2nd did. That's a shame after Strike sold pretty well. I even vaguely remember reading that the extremely delayed Vivid blurays sold relatively well, probably thanks to them coming out while Strike was in the middle of airing.

Yeah, it seems like people's main complaint about Strike is that it wasn't a replacement for Force. I will never understand how they managed to make two more seasons and two more movies all while completely refusing to even address Force. The rest of the series has so much more potential left, regardless of whether they finish or retcon it. It's like Tsuzuki is punishing his fans for not giving Force more of a chance even though it was clearly his mistake. He decided to alienate most of his audience by removing all the yuri and lolis. But even after Vivid and Strike both did so much better, he refused to fix the mistake and try to move past Force in some different manner.

Yes, it does. Again, magical girl as genre does not just mean "a female minor has magic and that's it". That's not how genres work. They're clusterings of works with you-know-it-when-you-see-it similar types of themes and tropes. Strike isn't structured like a magical girl story, it's structured like a sports story - because that's what it is.

Vivid was basically everything bad about the series bundled together with a few faint traces of the original. They rolled most of those into Force and ran it concurrently to Vivid... but Force was fucking garbage too, and took all the wrong lessons from the original 3 series.

That subplot was already resolved in StrikerS. It was just Spaghetti testing a new stealth assassination drone that stalked Nanoha until it caught her when she was exhausted from normal work. In order to turn that into a series, they'd either have to make it about her working too much or her lengthy physical rehabilitation, neither of which sound very interesting to me.

As far as I'm concerned, the series ends at A's. That third movie (Reflection, was it?) was kinda cool, though. I'm waiting to see Detonation.

Tbh I would love an Isekai of Nanoha being transported to another world and being forced to fend for herself.

It was ok but could have been much better. It's a huge step back compared to the first movies. Basically, its production was rushed. King Records not only delayed the movie, it couldn't gather enough talented staff and give them enough time to draw it. That's why pretty much every element of the movie was a half-baked mess. The direction, story, character design, animation were just not as good as in the first two movies.

The fact that Reflection came to NA at all is weird in itself. Nanoha never really had a presence here in the west and most anime franchise movies that do get limited theatre runs over here have some sort of overseas fandom like Dragonball and Fate. Even Gundam has the backing of Toonamifags, but Nanoha's never been on the level of any of these franchises.

Last time I checked Nanoha was sitting around country-to-continent level while Symphogear is planet-to-multi-star system level.
