Tfw it was actually good

>tfw it was actually good
unbelievable.
I actually liked how they downplayed the officers' incompetence compared to the original, and the circles on astarte made more sense here, but the episodes about Yang/Reinhardt's history were underwhelming for me, i'm really salty about the FPA agricultural efforts episode being cut, and i miss the slow, steady atmosphere of the original.
on the upside, they really did justice to Yang's constant ethical doubts, and i enjoyed the different take on Bucock's and Cazellnu's character, although I don't consider them superior to the original; just different.
all-round, i think it's a good adaptation and i'm really optimistic about possible following episodes

fuck you, it's trash

I'm not going to put judgement until they release the entire thing

how do you figure?
that is a good policy, but it left a good impression on me. i'm cautiously optimistic. i'll definitely keep an eye out.

I generally liked it too. Opening and Ending were decent as well. Interested to see if eventually they'll get the whole thing done. I decently liked some of their scene changes.

Its "good" as long as you don't compare it to the original
the music and character designs were pretty close to being dogshit though

don't mind the designs but yeah the music can't be compared

I really liked it too. I didn't have much complaints besides questionable character designs. It still has a long way to go and it most likely won't be as good as the original but I have no doubts it will be an amazing show on its own once it's all said and done in some 10+ years probably (if it is not canceled for some reason by then). And if they manage to improve music and character designs in the future then even better.

i disliked most of the redesigns myself, particularly Reuenthal, Schenkopp, Cazellnu and the imperial ships and ground troops. i liked oberstein, yang and the FPA ships, though. and, yeah, the music is incomparable.
i have faith that it might end up standing on its own if it keeps going, though. some scenes were done really well.

FPA ships are dogshit though, imperial are okay.
the black lancers are cool in fact.

but it's just so fucking ugly

I only watched up to episode two, probably should finish this.
The original was just so good though.

I enjoyed the different take on the story as well. But with such a revered older wonderful adaptation, most older fans won't even pay it a second glance.

I liked it more than the same part the OVA's adapted, that might not hold true for the latter parts since the OVA starts kind of weak and improves with time, but I think they made some really good changes aside from the character designs.

>the black lancers are cool
Nothing new there

Having read the novels, watched the original OVA, and Neue, the original OVA is still best, even though it deviates heavily from the novels at times. The changes they made were generally for the better. But Neue is still an 8/10 while the original is a 10.

I thought even the OP was shitty when I watched ep 1, but by ep 13, I was charmed.

One of the change I really liked is how they expanded his relationship with Jessica. That storyline and its ending probably will be a lot more impactful.

Yang completely reading Reinhard and preparing for a counter in advance was great too. Better than the expo dump he did

Character design wise, they didn't ruin Yang, Jessica's was fine too, but the rest was Eh. And I really hope they make Julian older as the series goes on, he looks like a twink...

>I thought even the OP was shitty when I watched ep 1, but by ep 13, I was charmed.
same here, really. i thought pretty badly of it from the first two-three episodes, but i really warmed up to it by the invasion. it got much better.

it's not finished yet?

13 episode are out only. It's nothing compared to the full series.

They did that as a test of sort. They are making movies now, and if they work, they will make Season 2 with the rest.

>making the squad level combat generic
Gayer than aids. Infantry running around in power armor and great axe's is straight out of the novel and shouldn't be fucked with.

At least, his voice isn't as gay as his design.

What do you guys think of the chara design of Murai, Fischer and Patrichev ?

They roughly kept it the ame, but I like the new Murai.

Patrichev and Fischer look the same, pretty much. Murai is different but not bad.

DNT is highly influenced by modern Japanese sensibilities in a bad way. What was once comfy has become melodramatic, and it's a damn shame.

It's only covered like the first half of the first season of the original

I don't like Murai's new design. Though maybe that's a thing of habit. I was really fond of his old design.
>They are making movies now, and if they work, they will make Season 2 with the rest.
let's hope it works out fine.

nigga b gay

Who is he aiming at? I don't remember anything like this. There was the meeting with Oberstein, but that was indoors.

>What was once comfy has become melodramatic
Lotgh was always melodramatic, one or two lighthearted moments per episode does not change that.

It ended on a fucking cliffhanger, do you think the story is finished?

See you in ten years!
