Manga.
Anime adaptations of manga I already read always disappoint me.

Either, but whatever puts me not in the category of this obnoxious faggot

chinese web novels

VN>Manga>Anime

Manga all the way

Anime but only because I don't want to be scrolling all the time on my computer. Tried on the phone but then I have to zoom in all the time instead.

Easily manga.

Manga. I read it daily where as I only watch anime on a weekly basis.

Manga but when they get anime adaptations I'll watch em to see how my fav parts got animated.

Seeing the most sta vs ice guy fight animated was pure kino.
Also hero academia all for one intro was a masterpiece. However I am now patiently waiting for kenga ashua adaptation. And hoping the cg will be good enough for the fights. Can't wait for beard Chad moments.

>Tried on the phone but then I have to zoom in all the time instead.
Have you tried using Mangakakalot? The size of the pages automatically adjusts to whatever device you're using.

Anime; the addition of animation, color, soundtrack, and voice acting generally makes the story much better if it's done even remotely well

Manga. I can blaze through it at my own pace. The only caveat being I can somewhat get past some dodgy subs, but an absolutely nightmarish scanlation job can take a moment to get used to. Especially if it's a huge dip.

Light novels.

Witnessing the plot unravel is way better in the anime.

whichever does it best. Generically the source material is best, but from time to time, the adaptions are better.

Depends on the boob physics

manga almost all the time, except for really unique stuff like spirited away and such, where manga would probably be sub-par unless it expanded massively.
There's some stuff that goes head to head though, like monogatari.

Attached: 7j5REaX.png (1945x1400, 700K)

Anime is just a commercial.

test

this

Always the original media, but adaptations sometimes add good extra value, more often than not being the OST.

Manga>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Anime

Attached: il-manga-di-slam-dunk-ha-venduto-milioni-di-copie-maxw-1280.jpg (1263x1000, 410K)

Manga. It's way more varied. I do like anime though, especially originals and some well done manga adaptations. I like the idea of a manga board, but i guess it would be doomed because of the WSJ-fags.

Very few cases I'll prefer the anime over the manga (ex: attack on Titan) but majority of the time the manga is leagues better

Wasn't monogatari originally a LN though?
The problem with anime adaptions is that they are adaptions into another medium so what made the original material good may not necessarily translate well into a conherent anime/game/whatever. I don't see why a manga adpation of an anime adpation of an LN would even have a chance of being as good.

>WHY NOT BOTH?

Attached: 004_l.jpg (367x480, 49K)

>Wasn't monogatari originally a LN though?
iirc yes. both anime and manga are great, they're just a bit different. i'm more inclined to say manga is better since monogatari is mostly talking anime, and ohgreat's art fits perfectly too.
> I don't see why a manga adpation of an anime adpation of an LN
except he's adapting from LN

this

Manga tends to have better art, and it’s more convenient. And as sayed, manga has a better variety of genres and subject matter that don’t have to appeal to mass markets like anime does.

Manga has more depth to it. The adaptions I do watch leaves me wondering why exactly this character behaves this way in the story / to a certain character. With the manga I know that the character had an interaction of sorts that influenced why she does what she does. In summary I just like the more completeness of the manga and being able to drift off into thought.

Almost
VN > anime original > manga > anime adaptations > shit > LNs

Yes.

I am a Kyoani fag and I never read a single manga because I know Kyoani adaptations are better by default

anime >> manga
I need sound and motion to fully experience it

Puppet shows >>>>

The true patrician choice

Manga readers are bros and make a good company. Can't say the same about animefags.

Depends. Sometime the anime adaptation shine brighter than the original.
>K-On
>High IQ Loli Coffee Maker
>OPM

In terms of quality, Gochiusa is definitely far better in the anime compared to the original. Thankfully, KOI has improved himself and drew as close as possible to the anime adaptation. Which is nice.

OPM original vs anime is obvious. can't see the difference

I've seen K-On 4 koma and much of the anime. Execution wise, anime won by a very very large margin.

i'd rather have a board about taiwanese puppet shows

This. I used to not buy into the hate towards animeonlyfags, but they’re screwed up enough comfy manga threads after an anime launch for me to believe it

I prefer manga but have consumed more anime.

depends, if it is a battle anime/manga i prefer anime but if it is a manga with no action scenes i prefer manga

I feel like manga is way better on average but I like my favorite anime more than my favorite manga.

Seems like you didn't watch Monster.

Attached: smug nina.png (1017x731, 482K)

i prefer the more focused and individual, passionate style in manga

I mostly consume manga nowadays, even though when I recenntly got back into anime hardcore I was watching a lot of it
Anime adaptations being better than the source material are an exception, a welcome one, but still an exception.
The time for great original anime and OVAs is long gone, with a couple studios putting out shows worth the bigger time sink
but they're few and far between

This thread proves that Yea Forums is a more manga-oriented board , based.

It depends on the material. Some stuff is better animated, while other stuff is better in manga form.

Manga but I'm cheap as fuck so end up watching more anime because I hate reading manga on a monitor.
Got a free tablet a few months back and have been getting into manga hard though, to the point I might consider spending less on boolits and alcohol and buy some manga

>Monster
>not a disappointment in all forms of media

Attached: over-rated kuso tbh fam.jpg (640x480, 41K)

this is the only right answer, source material 99% of the time is best

This. Maidragon's anime adaptation is miles ahead of the manga in terms of art and writing it's not even funny. No wonder the Chinese who are the biggest fans of the series have never heard of the manga prior to the anime

anime just has more. Great voice acting and sound design are too much to miss in manga.

The things that people consider be good are pretty much a 1 to 1 with the manga while the ones that are considered bad are anime original. Kyoani really fucked up Lucoa, Shouta, Kanna, Elma and Saikawa, the only character they improved was Fafnir.

K-On! is a huge improvement over the manga and is filled with original content.

manga, takes way less time and quality is usually overall better

Imagine being this wrong. I never read the manga though. But it looks so awful so I can easily say there is no way to make anime worse, especially for GodAni

Both

Came here to post this.

How do I add sound, color and cute voice acting to my manga? Will there ever be a technology that can do that? I would take an interactive manga over cgi anime anyday.

Manga
Not for any deep reason, but because it's faster to read than watching an episode. I watch anime originals but don't care enough to watch adaptions.

>Status in Country of Origin
>11 Volumes (Hiatus) [Chinese]

It gets worse. Apparently, the hiatus might be permanent due to rights issues.

It's true they kind of wore the personalities of those characters down to one trait. They weren't very interesting in the original manga though either.
I liked the anime more because of the nice animation and direction. This is coming from someone who read the manga before watching the anime.

What's the meme behind that scene? I don't understand why anons are always posting this scene.

Manga is better, but I like watching anime because it requires less effort.

I've been reading way more manga as of late because there's more of it and downtime at work allows me to, but a good/fun anime sometimes sells the story better.

Getting a hold of obscure manga chapters with translations is extremely frustrating and doesn't happen as often with anime.

Manga is always vastly superior to anime. Consider all the comfy manga threads we've had and how quickly they turn to shit after an anime adaptation is released. It happens all the time especially if the anime becomes popular.

I prefer manga.

Attached: 1549575795386.jpg (731x617, 33K)

Yea we should split up already.

Anime, I most watch SoL type stuff and that's always worked much better with color, voices, music etc.
I also hate reading off a screen and very few manga I want to read are actually localized.

Attached: 1449301132983.jpg (567x699, 87K)

Usually the manga, but there are exceptions like YuYu Hakusho where the art is subpar so I go for the anime instead.

Manga, and I wouldn't mind if the board split into anime and manga.

Manga>manga adapted from LN>VN>anime original>anime>LN

Attached: 1499985791505.jpg (513x9968, 1.5M)

Too bad you can't put sound into mangas.

Manga mostly because it takes less time and it has better stuff

Manga, 100%. I just like being able to go through at my own pace, and being able to read multiple series at the same time helps too.

Manga no contest

manga

Manga. The last anime i've watched was Pop Team Epic, just because i was curious how they would adapt it.

>The last anime i've watched was Pop Team Epic
I'm sorry to hear that and I want to say as an anime watcher it's not all that bad.

Anime because I want to fully utilize my ears.

Manga. I can much more easily cover a broad range of genres and quality while putting in as much investment as I want, broader range of genres, doesn't require a high budget or popularity to be good, allows me to more easily find hidden gems, generally looks nicer and better, albeit significantly less active discussion.

Anime on the other hand is fun to watch with people or while having a meal, but that and anime-originals are pretty much their strongest draws to me. Motion is great if it's a high-budget production or has some talented animators, but more often than not its cheapness significantly detracts from it (especially if it's an adaptation). I won't notice OSTs except on the rare occasions they're amazing and stand out, and frankly I couldn't give a rat's ass about color or voices. But really the worst offender is the longer amount of time it takes to get through an anime over a manga, meaning I have to be more careful when choosing a series, which even in the worst cases I invest at least about an hour into, over a manga, which I can quickly guess it's general quality and whether it's worth continuing in about 15-20 mins.

Attached: Also, the benefit of weird oneshots and failed series.png (840x1175, 333K)

The one that's less popular in my community, thus giving me hipster points and a persecution complex while allowing me to constantly bitch at the majority about how superior I am to them because I like picture books more than cartoons.

>do you prefer an actual art form or comics
The former, obviously.

I bet Yea Forums is laughing at mangatards till this very moment.

>frankly I couldn't give a rat's ass about color or voices
This.

What series was that for you? Mine was JoJo.

Source Material (Manga/Anime Original/LN/VN) > Anime Adaption >>>>>>> Manga Adaption of Anime Original/LN/VN

So for an adaptation of a LN the anime is better than the manga? That doesn't sound right.

A tablet and Tachiyomi helped a lot for me. For £150 you can get a 1080 10" screen tablet which means you don't need to zoom for normal pages and it's actually bigger than most physical manga.
Since getting that I've ended up reading manga that I've had the physical copy of for years without touching so maybe that'd be the route for you too.
Also decent enough for watching anime on.

Attached: 080.jpg (759x1080, 265K)

Anime, The only thing I dislike about manga and I've repeated this so many times is that translations can just stop any time and it feels like a lot of time wasted if no one else picks it up to carry on the torch.
I will pick up the manga if the anime interests me like Neverland.

Anime.

Manga does not leave a lasting impression.

I've done pretty much the same thing. Huawei Mediapads are affordable (100-150GBP) and all I need to do is have it run a browser

Anime, though preferrably original.

Manga posters are unable to make actual threads. They don't know what they talk about, so the only active manga threads are shounenshit and falvor of the month romcom schlock. As a result they flock to this thread since it allows them to finally express their love for manga.

I really like both but I consume more manga for sure.

Galaxy Tab A 10.1.
Pretty decent for the two things I wanted it for. No idea how well it runs anything else but for manga alone I think it was worth it.

I'd rather read the original than an adaptation.

Rarely seen such a retarded post.

Manga. I like to choose my own pace. Also this

my bad

Reality is tough, isn't it? Ever since OPT threads got banned you people have contributed even less to the board that ever before. Board should get renamed to Anime, since you people contribute nothing anyway. Just look at the manga threads that are up right now. Fucking laughable.

>Ever since OPT threads got banned
Do you even browse this board?

I prefer manga, but the industry in the west makes it hard to support the industry. VIZ owns the most out here and they translate for some weird Disney kids SJW audience. Does anyone know an application that works like comixology where it's easy to read panel by panel and switch from that view to full page views? I'm just gonna read scanslations if VIZ keeps censoring manga in the west.

i used to only watch anime but i've been trying to read manga for a couple of months and it's nice to read but i feel like it's hard to process sometimes, there's so much information and things happening on one page, things don't really stand out to my eyes and i feel like i miss a lot of subtle details.

Even worse than I thought. I've had this garbage filtered for years, but here I thought the mods finally perma banned you mongrels. Guess they are even less competent than I expected.

Manga, but books are even better.

You are trying way too hard, you little shit.

Not really. You were banned for posting this garbage for a while so I am simply disappointed that they are allowing your shitty template threads again. But I guess it's the only threads you people even know how to make. After all, you seem to be pretending to read a lot of manga yet never feel the need to discuss them. How does that work out for you? Seems like an incredibly boring hobby. Reading badly written comics that are void of artistic merit without anyone to talk about them with.

Seriously. Where are all these 90+ anons when you need them? Is everyone outside of shonenfags reading a specific, different series?

Prefer manga these days. Though aside from comedy it doesn't particularly do any genre significantly better than anime does I suppose.

>5 video game boards
>but a manga board is out of the question

Manga all the way.

Attached: ikyou-no-yuiko-san-4525693.jpg (720x1024, 124K)

The problem with ongoing manga is the release times are rarely set, so any specific thread for a new chapter can turn up and you can miss it. They can also have >1 month gaps. There's only a few I'm following like Hanebado that have set release days, and unfortunately not many people seem to be reading it.
Another problem is each chapter doesn't have as much content to discuss as an episode of anime, so it's easier to die out quicker than most episode threads.

Attached: HaneB02_187.jpg (1125x1600, 347K)

Attached: 1494191435682.png (933x1050, 561K)

What are the anime threads that are up right now that have insightful discussion about an anime with artistic merit?

If manga confuses you then I don't recommend ever reading western comics. Manga is poorly funded and they don't even have backgrounds or coloring a lot of the times.

>look, my thread is justified because all the other threads are shit, too
Yeah, that's definitely the way to go and prove your worth.

Unadapted manga gets threads, typically only around when new chapters hit and maybe a bit after that at most because those people know that things devolve into shitposting if you just keep making threads for no reason
Adapted manga threads are usually filled with anime-only people who shit things up and trying to create memes for some reason, unless the anime adaptation was so shit that everyone ignores it, in that case the above scenario regarding unadapted manga applies
threads for anime original projects and series where the anime is the more popular product are typically filled with shitposting and little discussion outside when a new episode hits, and is not a scenario worth envying

So then you're saying that animefags don't contribute any more than mangafags.

Not really, since there are worthwhile anime threads every now and then. I am not gonna go through the catalogue and scan them right now. I have 75 of them filtered after all. Yet I've never even seen a worthwhile manga thread. 90% of them land in the filter, hence they are trash by proxy. And the ones that are about decent series die in 3 replies.

Manga.

If Level E doesn't get an official release in the next five years, I'm going to write Abe a very scolding letter.

What are decent series in your opinion user?

>Adapted manga threads are usually filled with anime-only people
Can't see why people would do then when they could just be seeing spoilers for things that haven't happened in the anime yet.
It's much worse when anime episode threads get full of people deciding to discuss later events from the source.

Attached: tsuuuu.jpg (1200x1698, 279K)

One piece, Naruto, and Bleach.

>there are worthwhile anime threads but i can't show them! just trust me bro!

You have great taste my man

Kojima, Matsumoto and Igarashi manga for starters.
That doesn't seem to make sense since those have generals.

Modern anime is soulless.
Read manga.

Manga.
But I prefer the two mixed together on a board. Just a manga or just an anime board would promote an even more insular culture within fandoms, leading to even more generals than we already see.
Sometimes it can be nice to follow along with an adaption of a manga I know, even if I don't bother to watch the anime as well.

Manga, though recently I've been finding more appreciation for anime originals. I'll occasionally watch an adaptation but not usually, and almost never before reading the manga first. I don't generally watch anime seasonally but I do follow several manga and want to read more ongoing but at the same time don't want to be reading too many ongoing manga.

Also part of having watched a lot of anime original recently is seeing the benefit to having a self contained series over manga which usually just run endlessly until they're forced to end. This doesn't apply to every series but I think it's pretty common. I hate the seasonal structure (and even more so the cour structure that most anime adhere to) but unless you're a long running battle shonen you usually have to have your series aimed for a specific number of episodes I think, which helps in planning the story.

Anime is considered mainstream, that means whatever an anime is made of a series it draws out the worst fans.

this. generally because there is more to manga (downtime between anime seasons) and i usually can't stand the voices in any language.

> not reading manga on a vr headset

I've been reading the LN's. There is a large amount of dialog that was cut from the anime for sake of time. A lot of it being nonsense between Kanbaru and Ararararararagi which is a crime.

I vastly prefer manga. I can't stand the voice acting or the endless still shots. Manga is also less time consuming.

I prefer manga, but I usually go with the source material for whatever it is i wanna watch/read.
There are times where I think the anime is better than the manga, or is at least on par, but I usually prefer the manga.

I used to be anime only, but I’m pretty busy these days and it’s easier for me to sit back and read a few chapters or a manga than it is to catch up on anime. I also like getting a chance to appreciate the art without having to pause.

Manga. It's easier to read, easier to find, the stories are far longer, and is a closer representation of the mangaka's original ideas. Not to mention there's far more manga than there is anime.

Attached: Senko-san Chapter 3 Page 19.png (1500x2153, 632K)

I unironically hate manga... I find it so boring

>easier to find
I don't agree with this. It really depends on the series though. Some series have all anime entries translated as soon as they come out and yet the manga is never translated. Patlabor and Spriggan for instance. Also Gingitsune. This applies to manga with no anime too, sometimes nobody picks them up, either officially or unofficially.

I only ever read manga if the anime for it ended. And fuck LNs, if I wanted to use my imagination then I'd write my own fanfics or original story. I don't want to guess what the author is trying to show, I want to KNOW what the fantasy world being presented to me is trying to show.

>tfw no daughterwifemommy

>Still thinking that anime is limited to physical media
>Completely ignoring CR and other streaming subs

Far more people are subbed to CR than there are people buying manga.

Attached: Smug_Madoka.jpg (492x492, 126K)

Depends on the series honestly. Certain manga benefit form a light hearted soundtrack while others require dramatic and heavy orchestration. I mostly use vidya OSTs, especially RPGs.

I guess I should have clarified. I find it easier it much easier to just be able to go and find the scans on somewhere like mangadex and even if you don't want to read it on MD, you can just go to baka updates and find the scanlation site as opposed to hunting torrents for halfway good subs.

Anime, i like more the art, pacing and everything in the manga, is just better and everything has the intended feeling that you should get but...I just forget about manga so fucking easy, i binge through it at the speed of light and then it lacks the animation, voices, etc that make anime easier to keep in your mind.

Usually manga, but VNs are my favorite medium these days.

Manga. Because variety in story and art, variety in character, can read at my own pace like say 1 chapter a day binging if I feel like it instead of devoting 20minutes to watch an episode. Also because I can read while I shit, while I walk, while I eat and just before sleeping. For anime I need to get to my desktop.

Manga. For whatever reason, the way they interpret manga to anime is always 100% more cringe than the intention the author had. Filler animation between scenes drives me insane, and most anime tend to drop the ball on pacing, atmosphere, and the voice acting is almost never appropriate.

You need to spend some time reading actual books and develop an imagination. Your memory will improve as well, which is what you're lacking. You're basically making yourself stupid by only watching cartoons.

>drop the ball on pacing
Ah yes, the sort of criticism one uses when they have nothing else to contribute since their ability to formulate a critical thought is on the level of a toddler. Not surprised a mangafag, read: a person unable to appreciate actual art, would attempt to use this buzzword as an argument.

Manga is way more diverse and healthy an industry. It's hopeless to think the tiny niche of 2AM infomercials hocking BD's and tertiarily related merchandise would ever compete with it. They're entirely different ballgames.
There's a range of strories being told in manga that would never be adapted or see their like as an anime. Stuff that's too rooted in normalfaggotry, stuff that's the polar opposite and way to explicit to ever hit a tv. It's a nice big healthy gamut that anime will never have. Ever.

Anime for me is
>A nice bonus on top of the manga if adapted well
>A way of experiencing untranslated manga
Aside from the occasional high quality original anime it can't compete with manga.

I prefer Animanga.

Manga is 90% of the times straight out better than the anime counterpart the rest 10% are animes that are almost as good as the Manga and finally, there's not a single anime out there that is better than the Manga version of it.

What I like about anime is that because there are only about 40-50 full-length shows each season, most of which end up getting subbed pretty soon after release, I can properly follow the entire field. I don't miss anything that I don't want to watch. With manga on the other hand there are at least hundreds of different series under serialisation, and I have to depend on the whims of individual scanlators to continue translation for years. It's much harder to survey and understand the entire field if you're not in Japan.

For a seinen, example, Dorohedoro transaltion is atrocious, at least in early volumes. It really depends on the translators, the majority are bad, but few are good.

Manga duh.

This is the grossest thing i've seen this week. Why does it disturb me so much.

>Too lazy to learn kanji.
>Mostly understand the moonspeak.
Anime it is.
