Last time, the competition portion of the YAGP preliminaries finished up leaving the awards ceremony. Kanade, Shouko and Ema all placed in the top 12 thus earning spots in New York for the YAGP finals. Kanade did well enough to earn the bronze medal while Ema earned the gold to the surprise of everyone, herself more than anyone. Unfortunately for Shouko she was unable to get an award while Kanade, to her chagrin, was unable to earn the Royal Ballet scholarship right then and there.
This time, there's still some bit of business left from the YAGP before it's time for Kanade to start looking ahead at the new opportunities presented.
I'm not quite sure when the original chapters came out but I'm guessing it would've been somewhere in that time frame where there were big attacks in Paris, Brussels and Nice so it makes sense.
Love how we can see the mother scrambling notes on a piece of paper that she referrences a bit later in the chapter.
So many people showing how much they care about Kanade this chapter, it's so cute.

Yeah, I think for a lot of the characters they're jaded on some level so Kanade's bright-eyed and "I love all this" outlook is an eye opener. Like the characters in story probably think that she's too pure and don't want to see her fail. The only one that really falls outside of that is Shouko and that's probably because they have the benefit of starting ballet at roughly the same time, growing up together and more or less being best friends.
