Agreed. The first few chapters, I wasn't really into the story. Rather cliche. But Crimson enters the picture and the manga suddenly receives a huge dosage of CUHRAZY. The characters become more bombastic and the large scale of action changes from feeling hackneyed (Oh, look at how huge these attacks are, the characters are all so powerful) to actually, legitimately feeling like a battle between titans (Oh shit, look at how huge these attacks are, the characters are all so powerful), if you can get what I mean.

I'm starting to feel like this manga will do the whole shocking deaths of comrades trope better than other manga like Akame ga Kill. Even with this new group of 'elite warriors' who've shown up in the raws, they don't feel like they can really survive. At least not all of them. Even Crimson feels like, left on their own, they'd just all die once they go up against the Winged Clan, even if they'd give a pretty hard fight. It was the same with the next group of mercs we'll be seeing soon, who were pretty much goners after Crimson deliberately made them into targets for the Winged Clan to pursue after he was done using them.

I'm pretty sure she's going to show up later. The Sun Cult's been referenced enough in the series without having a real presence, and they're supposedly the only other real force that can fight the dragons. So take the strongest dragon hunter and match her up with the strongest human magic power.

I suspect the same. Former Sun Cult, maybe? We've seen the limit of Dragon Hunters (Leo) and we have a rough idea of the limit of human mutants like Silverware. I'm assuming you have to be human for the process to happen at all, as well.
There's something fantastic about the hero fighting the main villain by chapter 12, cornering them, outright beating them and breaking them mentally with fear within two chapters. Especially since it was a time manipulator. Like, I get the idea that a solid portion of the endgame will be about either pulling her bodyguards away, or keeping Artemesia from running the moment she sees Ragna.
Also to hell with Artemesia. "Painlessly" wiping out populations as an act of kindness? Stop pretending to be a saint, you fucking monster.

I thought it was interesting, especially after building up how endgame boss she is, it was fun ride watching Ragna disregard Crimson's orders and go nuts on artemisia I was hesitant to keep reading in the beginning, Crimson kept me going for chapters 3 to 7 but everything in capital sold me on this series.

That's because his speed hard counters Artemesia's cast time. Also, the only reason why he would be able to win is because he has knowledge of Artemesia's skills. Without said knowledge, even if he waffled for a couple of seconds, Artemesia would have killed him with time stop.
Personally, Crimson's butthurt was the best part of the arc for me

user, he IS the best sword in the setting. He can manifest silver blades out of his "aura," toss them around like missiles, and impart the aura of silver into objects or just his body. If you look near the top of this thread, there's a picture of him where it's some sort of goofy looking sword-man. THAT is the main character as seen by someone with extra sensory powers.
So far, he's a unique existence. Crimson may be able to replicate his powers eventually (on his moon base maybe), but for the current arc, that's impossible... though the old guy with the long sword, Garm, was said to be reaching a state where it's difficult to tell where the sword ends and he begins. Which seems like a lesser version of the start of Ragna's... development.
The people behind him are an elite Leese kingdom military unit headed by princes Staria(or Starlia?) who is the armless girl. She's a born mutant, and in exchange for no arms, she's a psychic, basically. The guy in all black behind her is a "mage" but we haven't seen him do anything. We actually don't know much about magic besides the Sun Cult having enough of it to pose a threat to upper tier dragons, and that people born with affinity to it have dragon-like features. Ah, and that upper tier dragons use magic extensively.
Everyone else (besides Crimson) is just a well trained mundane so far as we know. They might be using weapons Ragna imbues with his aura, since Crimson implied that's the most effective use of his power, via the experimentation done, so far. Oh, the angry, black haired kid on the left might be using Sun Cult weapons, though. Special attention was paid to them when he drew them, and they caused some wood to catch fire.

That's exactly why I didn't really like the first few chapters, however, once Crimson is introduced, the quality of the manga really went up for me. Ragna's character works better playing off of Crimson, and the same could be said for Crimson as well.
Crimson could get boring or annoying as well for people who are tired of the "edgy, chessmaster" types, but since he's forced to play ball with an edgy, 1-dimensional type like Ragna, it ends up balancing out into an entertaining dynamic of the two being forced into following in the other's bullshit (with Ragna being largely unaware of Crimson's own manipulations, like deliberately delaying their departure so that all the hostages of that wind dragon would end up dying).

Just being able to move at the speed of lightning would be a pretty solid ability. Especially if he can fly and then just rain lightning down on people.
Well let's see what we know. It seems all high class dragons have powerful regeneration, physical durability, and shapeshifting (battle-body) abilities. It seems like all high class dragons can create low class dragons. Grumwert just used his blood to spawn them, Melgubde partially transformed trees to create a mobile fortress. Artemesia also performed telekinesis, which has nothing to do with Time Magic, and thus could be a generic power. I'm not 100% but I believe that they can all breathe or create fire as well, like lower dragons. That said:
12: No title, no real appearances
11: Centipede, has immense combat form, seemed heavily armored, burrowed underground
10: Black Devil, seemed like blood manipulation
9: Sword Mountain, apparently telekinetic control over spikes/skewers
8: Fat, had a massive mouthed combat form with many dangerous looking teeth, performed the aforementioned mobile tree fortress trick
7: Arm, seems to specialize in a beam attack, apparently parasites/controls human bodies, and has access to, knowledge of, things higher ranked dragons don't
6: Madness, has yet to do anything special, directly, Korean scans may have an indication of abilities
5: Explosive, likely self explanatory but who knows
Then the top four are Barrier, Wind Prison, Thunder and Artemesia who are fairly well explored.
From that, you could expect more "element" type dragons. Ice seems unlikely, but earth/metal could be possible. A fire dragon that can no-sell the freezing threat of silver? Assuming the Kings always have top tier boss powersets, you might see a gravity user or a void user. A more powerful version of Arm, that can control multiple bodies in tandem could be viable. A plague or poison dragon seem very obvious options.
