You'd think people would realize anime is a total work, a strong first episode is meaningless if by the end there is a hitherto unknown alien invasion three episodes from the end that ruins everything the show was seemingly building towards. Or if all those "boring episodes" are actually going to lead to something important or if they were just filler after all. We have five decades of anime, there is no shortage of quality anime to watch, so why take a gamble of seasonal garbage?

Last two episodes were boring, they're taking their time since it's 2 cour and there isn't a lot of plot to cover. This anime's at its best when it's full of suffering, It does not need 2 cheery wholesome episodes in a row.

There's something kind of artificial and phony about this anime that doesn't sit well with me. It feels sort of like they decided to write this story which depicts a lot of pain and struggle, but the writers aren't empathizing enough with the characters so they feel flat. Sort of like a teenager who tries to write something angsty but he doesn't have enough life experience to make it feel like more than an imitation of something he's read about. The manga had a lot more heart than what this adaptation shows so far.
I don't dislike the show, but it feels like it could be so much more than what it is. I hope it improves later on.

The suffering is a consequence of the life at those times, the characters grow through it. It's like you read a story set in WW2 Germany without expecting it to be extremely sad at all.

Dororo is still pretty torn up over her mom dying, so she was just thinking of a way her mom could have stayed alive. Also I think it was mostly to reassure Mio. Mio was obviously pretty ashamed of what she was doing even if she said otherwise, so Dororo was reassuring her that she isn't a bad person and that doing this keeps her and the orphans alive, unlike her mom who wouldn't do it and died.
And I guess it would have been redundant to show a seen of her mom saying she wouldn't whore herself out when it was already stated before.

This is what I assumed. It's a lot of story to get through in one episode, so I'd imagine they didn't want to waste time showing us a scene we already knew happened. Also I don't think it was that much of a defining moment to Dororo, and we were just getting the highlights of how her family fell apart.

You need others to tell you something's good and how the plot progresses before you can lower yourself to watching it. The fun of seasonal anime is not knowing what you'll get. A completely unspoiled experience. Even if Dororo is an adaptation, the changes are so drastic that reading the manga won't change the sense of the unknown. And if it all goes to shit in the final 3 episodes, that's still 9 weeks that you should have been having a great time. Instead you'll deny yourself that, because you can't live in the moment. You need your entertainment to come pre-planned for you.

Wouldn't explain why Itachi didn't mention it though. Plus, it'd be really awkward to have another flashback segment with Dororo's mom who we already saw die just to set up that plot point. They could alternatively just mention it off-hand like "yeah, my mom drew this on me" but that'd be even more awkward. At this point, I think they dropped that idea. They're going to run into Itachi again for some other reason.
