What do you think about Isekai where the MC becomes the leader of a nation, either through being handed the throne (pic related), overthrowing the current government or making a nation from scratch, user?

this reminds me of The Prince by M a c h i a v e l l i
This thread has been approved by the Adeptus Ministorum
I have yet to see one that isn't shit and filled with knowledge that the author got from Wikipedia.
Twelve Kingdoms is great.
Oh no i am conflicted but i must do the hard thing because of machiavelli. Stop me if i ever become too evil!
It's done so shallowly it just feels juvenile. There isn't actually any indication the MC will ever turn evil or corrupted, instead he's just puking benevolence everywhere it's infuriating.
Cursed Kingdom Building novel, do not read
I agree with this post, read others.
>"Oh no, MC-sama, what shall we do!?"
>Well, I remember reading in a book called 'The Prince' that...
The Kingdom Building equivalent of crop rotation and making chocolate and mayonnaise.
The author of Reincarnated as a Slime is a Civil Engineer. Though lot of the building processes described in the LN (unlike WN/manga/anime where the process isn't mentioned at all) are filled with magi-tech and other fantasy stuff that often makes real-life stuff moot.
I liked this one and I never felt like it tried to do anything pretentious despite the synopsis sounding exactly like pretentious chinkshit. Empire building doesn't actually start until after 100 chapters though, but it's not like the smaller-scale story in the beginning isn't satisfying to read through.
novelupdates.com
Wasn't that one discontinued by the author though?
honestly it's the same reason I hated Youjo Senki but once I looked past the high school philosophy shit, the power wank of an imperial loli is great.
Was this the one with the spoiled princess or the overly friendly one?
Lion guy wants MC to kill him so he becomes a respect(and feared) king.
Lion guy had the role of stoping any possibe rebelion when the first and the nice king were in charge, but he's getting old and can't keep that role.
MC might have to chop Lion's head to show it to everyone as a way to instigate fear in the herrt of the people(and especially the nobles) who might want to cause a rebellion.
Slight update.
yeah, but it was at least stopped after a resolution to a long arc. The author is still active and has a new book with 100 chapters in that has similar pacing. I'm not sure what happened exactly with TotR, probably China censorship issues
it's embarrassing that the best kingdom building isekai I can find is made by a chink. not the pic related manga, stick to the novel
>read several political books about the formation of different types of government
>read papers on how charismatic rulers and prophets gained their followers
>read memoirs written by people who eventually ruled their nation
>read commentaries on those same people
>still worried I'll make my MC pull some "I read about this before in..." bullshit when they begin empire building
I feel like I have to be real careful with this if I want to make it feel realistic.
>witches ex machina
>O MY DREAMWORLD
Yeah, how about no?
What if you give him an smartphone, but it's not magical, just a smartphone that can, dunno connect to the internet or already have some shit downloaded?
While at it, make a new row with Camille the Magic Otaku, Altrea the Puppermaster, Rosemary the Headstrong and IIya the Damned.
Have him reincarnate as a son of a noble who dies too early and he has to start ruling as a child. That plotline is very realistic and has happened countless times throughout history. Have him have some knowledge, but still fail where others failed. DONT MAKE A FUCKING TENSEI. Here's why: strawpoll.me
ok I don't mean to fanboy but TotR is much more readable than that crap. TotR has a shit ton of infodumps/worldbuilding as well, but it manages to stay readable unlike the MC in RtW that apparently has engineering textbooks in his head.
There is nothing wrong with the MC referencing a certain work.
A lot of leaders based their own actions on the writings or historic records of previous powerful men.
The real problem is when the MC references something and it's clear the author only read the book's summary or its most famous quotes.
you should look what an ex machina actually is before you embarrass yourself in public.
The best way is to have him refer to in-universe books/quotes with similar themes and quotes to the real works you want to reference. Most people won't know who you're referencing unless you make it really obvious.
Also helps with world building.
How will the MC get in a position where he is city/kingdom building?
Instead of quoting, why don't you trace the thought and have him conclude the same thing? It's better to express the essence of a thought than it is to refer to an author that your readers haven't read.
They always rely on a single thing: the isekai inhabitant being braindead to uncanny levels to allow the MC to shine thanks to his high school knowledge of kingdom management.
Typically in OP's manga, the kingdom is starving because farmers produce cash crops instead of food crops, and the rulers don't do anything to adress the problem. Worse, the princess isn't even aware of that. Or the kingdom has gigantic troubles moving goods because of a shit infrastructure, yet they have a completely unused mage workforce that can terraform the whole fucking country. Or like this one where the "half-beast dukedoms" rebels against the only kingdom on the continent that isn't racist against beastfolk so that the new king would wipe them and appear as strong.
I wanted to like this one, really, but the retardation is going way to far to allow my suspension of disbelief to work.
is pretty decent in that respect actually. The only detailed scientific Earth knowledge he used was how to make concrete IIRC.
Everything else is either very general knowledge or history related facts which can be explained by the fact that he's a history major.
My only complaint about there his wives will never allow an oyakodon.
Have him reference this video youtube.com
>make kingdoms heavily based on real world countries
>make Scandinavia analogue
>except Ireland and Germany replacing Sweden and Denmark
>have to figure out an explanation for why the blatantly Irish and German analogues have Scandinavian names
>11+ other kingdoms to flesh out with their histories and shit
>have to sort out why there are two French analogues and two Italian analogues. which countries seceded from what. which countries got taken over by who.
>have to work out a timeline for the order that all of this happened
>can't just change the names because they fit a specifically autistic theme I've chosen and because muh symbolism
>have to write my story around my turbo autisic roadblocks
Send help. None of this makes any sense anymore.
Not him but what's totr?
>The real problem is when the MC references something and it's clear the author only read the book's summary or its most famous quotes.
every Shroedinger's cat references ever
Sounds like you're trying to jerk off rather than tell a story. Just drop it and rethink everything.
I don't even have issue with research being wikipedia level, some level of simplification is required for a fiction novel. but bothers me is when there's zero thought put into the consequences of that knowledge and technology is treated as isolated bonuses to the kingdom. like when Realist spent a few chapters on freeing slaves and then it was never mentioned again.
Not all. Try Qualia The Purple.
What does Yea Forums think of Western Isekai?
Pic related was surprisingly enjoyable, especially with how the author ported normie Earth's history into the magic Earth's in a fairly believable manner.
How is Realist, anyways?
I WANNA FUCK GWEN
It really depends on the MC's education level. If all this political shenanigans is within his field of education then it's only natural to have him reference and pull ideas on what he's learned. Usually where the "I read about this in a book.." idea goes wrong is when you have an uneducated person read a book and magically become a learned scholar. On the other hand, even if your MC is not exactly an expert with politics, most people have some sort of understanding towards basic fundamental ideas. An MC like this may know where he's going or what the end goal looks like, but not necessarily how to get there.
He is so smart though he cured starvation by making people eat food they didnt know was food!
who knew starving people were so picky
Best Spiderpeople.
>apparently has engineering textbooks in his head.
I mean, if your novel's main draw is applying modern tech to a magical world your protagonist is eventually going to hit some kind of realistic limit. whether it's magic or the MC is impossibly smart, the end result is the same. I don't know why people get hung up on that kind of thing.
just the prose alone would be fucking fresh after reading translated web novels. Only problem is that there's rarely western novels that are wanky enough to satisfy most people here.
starts out shaky. shits the bed volume 3 onward with idols and other pop culture shit.
I personally like the fantasy Not!Rome Isekai.
I like the concept but have yet to ever see it done well in execution.
>Tfw he had the slut sing the best gundam opening
Hold me Yea Forums the nostalgia is strong
It's possible. There was an nutritionist who went on a medical mission trip to some shithole in Africa to help fight, of course, malnutrition. There, she(?) noticed that for some reason, it was the poorest of the poor kids/families who were somehow getting along fairly ok compared to the poor-to-lower-middle-class (which means well below poverty by any reasonable standard in an industrialized nation).
Turns out the poorest people were supplementing their diets with yam(? some sort of tuber, I believe, been years since I read this article) greens that the other, vaguely richer people were too snobby to eat because it was pretty unappetizing and for animal feed and of course the people poorer than even they were.
Turns out those greens were fully available to fix some malnutrition but they were too up their own asses to bother eating any of said greens even though they were already starving maybe every two days.
read the book that was based on, good shit.
They're okay.

Aussie Jewess hits so many good notes with me i often wish i got isekai'ed to the word wuto made, then i remember i would end up as a dirty NoM and die in a hell hole.
it's a balance, you might as well have a teleport ability to modern earth and back. At least some novels try to make it interesting and have the MC fail when they realize they can't just make machine guns because they need the machinery to make the machinery to make the machinery to make it. Or they can't even get the gunpowder ratio right so they just do simpler stuff like double-entry bookkeeping or semaphore telegraph towers, and end up stumbling into kingdom building out of pure luck and stubborness.
Cheats are just lazy. It's satisfying at first but gets stale quickly.
>farming
Doesn't he mean cultivation?
>so, can you tell me about your world?
>no, because you will introduce guns here
>hell no, with our level of progress i know it will mean endgame for all of us
>fine, what do you want?
>mind telling me how to make that delicious ice cream?
>sure, no problem
>thanks
>wait a fucking second, it starts with ice cream, then little small things and then you become the wealthiest fucker here, right?
Finally someone with a bit of sense.
I like how it actually has some originality and logic applied to it (despite the art being sort of generic people are designed to the point of bordering bad, if not for how regular and polished it is in most every other way).
The MC isn't re-inventing the fucking steam engine from dirt in two weeks, he's making fucking simple winnowing machines and mills out of wood. As well the setting takes elements from the Classical world, but the clothing, the politics, the societal structure, etc. all have unique elements rather than being copypasted famous ancient cultures.
It deserves better than it's getting in terms of popularity. It's like Slime Tensei empire building without steamrolling everything forever with next to no effort.
>you might as well have a teleport ability to modern earth and back.
That does already exist though.
How would you feel about an isekai about a Jew, a feminist, a black literal autist and a racist/sexist/antisemite traveling to another world to fight against neo Nazis with guns, Aztec gods and fucking insectoid space aliens?
>RtW MC being good at his previous life's profession is more unbelievable than Chinese cultivation BUT IN A WESTERN FANTASY SETTINGGG AND STRONGER THAN THE NATIVE CULTIVATION
I read TotR as a guilty pleasure, but it drops into the Chinese bog of MC killing anyone who doesn't agree with him and fucking anything with a vagina after he starts the journey back to reclaim his homeland. The original academy setting was actually more interesting. The main draw of RtW is technology BTFO-ing medieval shits anyway.
>is pretty decent in that respect actually.
>the whole fucking country is starving but the farmers only produce cash crops
>the princess of the kingdom isn't even fucking aware they're not producing food crops but cash crops
that's nowhere near as decent
PSA: Dont read the Road to a Kingdom series, after more than 500 chapters we find out Lucy died off screen
That this shit could have been a lot better than it was. It was purely tween powerwank that I loved at the time that ended horribly and was really unnecessarily morbid at times.
>MC fail when they realize they can't just make machine guns because they need the machinery to make the machinery to make the machinery to make it.
think RtW deals with that reasonably with magic being a stop gap solution that doesn't scale while the protagonist spends his efforts building infrastructure that can replace it.
and again I don't care where he gets the knowledge from, that's not why I'm reading this stuff. that's like complaining Sherlock is too smart to be realistic.
>after more than 500 chapters we find out Lucy died off screen
Wow, what a dick move.
>Lucy died off screen
What the actual fuck, author.
I didn't read a lot of them. I liked Flowers War from Tad Williams, and the Empire trilogy by Feist (the only decent stuff Feist wrote ever, and that's only because it's a coop with Jannie Wurst).
No, it's fucking retarded. The ease with which the MC was able to violate feudal privileges without any consequences indicates that the author has no idea what he's talking about.
Almost 600 chapters, it's worth it.
It is. China had new censorship issues but author didn't wanna censor his chapters, so he just said fuck it and started a new series.
My biggest roadblock to world building is not being able to have a map with realistic plate tectonics and climate patterns. I'm just gonna use topographic maps of real celestial bodies in the future.
I've read it and its garbage. But that's only to be expected.
the art style is not just generic, it's a horrendous mismatch with the story. No one is going to take it seriously if it looks like a romcom.
Also kinda ruined at the start when the Griffin's existence basically means they're playing on tutorial difficulty for a long time. First potential conflict comes when they're relatively stabilized and capable of biting back. The tribute ends up being cowardice rather than out of necessity even if it is to buy time.
Is it too much to ask for the MC to just stumble upon the orphans and write a story without papa griffin taking any sense of danger/urgency out of everything?
You know, I wonder if someone's ever done an isekai where, like, Napoleon or Nobunaga goes to one of these worlds using their own knowledge of politics and military tactics and such. Maybe Ride-On King's like that but I haven't read it yet.
I've kind of wanted to do one that involved Caracalla getting isekai'd but he's such a bastard to everyone that the humans and demons (or whatever) have to unite to try and stop him. I mean he was called The Common Enemy of Mankind after all.
The author has another series about not!Byzantium ruled by elves. I guess he's really into Rome.
Well, people in Europe were extremely reluctant to eat potatos at first. But of course, they overcame it as the various kingdoms were not as stupid as isekai kingdom and had actual "nutritionists" or "botanists" and other various scientists studying the problem and going around ind the kingdoms to actually educate the peasantry and local nobility.
Drifters, dude.
>but it drops into the Chinese bog of MC killing anyone who doesn't agree with him and fucking anything with a vagina after he starts the journey back to reclaim his homeland.
No it doesn't. Augustus is literally the most annoying and traitorous paranoid piece of shit and yet Lorist put up with him for over 500 chapters. You are just making shit up at this point.
>The original academy setting was actually more interesting.
i agree. Once the kingdom building went in too deep, there was no way for the plot to go back trying to decipher the whole premise of the downfall of the more-advanced civilization in its past. Black Iron Glory looks like it's planning itself much better for the long run, and it might as well be TotR remade and renamed considering it has a similar premise of an advanced civilization in the past.
Yeah dude goes back to her house in the forest knocks a no one answers, celia tells him that there is a fresh looking grave in the back so he breaks into the house and is full of dust like no one has lived there in years and when he goes to the grave Lucy's rotten corpse is in there.
>China had new censorship issues but author didn't wanna censor his chapters, so he just said fuck it and started a new series.
How does that solve it unless he moves out of China to do so?
for what purpose tho?
>advanced civilization in the past
Isn't that Sevens background shtick? Hell, it even ends with one of the suppossed "goddesses" of the advanced ancient civilization bullied and forgotten.
what the fuck spoiler that shit
He started a new story about Mao Zedong getting hit by a truck and transported to another world, where he must hunt down Tienanmen Square protesters who were also transported to the fantasy world, where they're helping the demon king destroy the world.
Fuck all the people that liked the degeneracy and debauchery that was going on in the series?
I mean he had that 10 year old queen suck his dick
I was specifically talking about how Souma doesn't have that many modern science knowledge hacks. Not sure what that has to do with the MC's policies.
He gets NTR'd too and he just forgives and moves on, TWICE
I really feel that the story wasn't edited very well from when it started, and the author got a better idea of what he was aiming for as time went on and he wrote himself a bigger world to play in.
I assume it started as a webnovel, but unlike Overlord's radical re-write from WN to LN, the editor just left the rocky (and fucking stupid) beginning arcs without further polish.
by not having barbarian girls kidnap and rape the weakened MC this time. Or not having orgies with his harem every now and then as an intermission chapter.
Lorist was *relatively* tame for a chinkshit MC but it didn't mean he wasn't prone to the same hedonistic and murderhobo ways.
Thermae Romae is my favourite reverse isekai. You could technically say it's kingdom-building/improvement since Lucius imports Japanese technology back to ROMA.
>He gets NTR'd too and he just forgives and moves on
I mean, that's a pretty normal thing for a rational human being to do. He could have killed some people along the way but he just as well could leave people alone and move on with his life.
moves on with the relationship I mean, he marries her after he forgives her NTR him.
just move on and drop that shit
>HAHAHAHA I WOULD TOTALLY HAVE FULL AND DETAILED KNOWLEDGE OF EVERYTHING, SCHOOL LEVEL STUFF BRUH
Thermae Romae would be a nice story if the author didn't write her self-insert into the story. What the fuck was up with the last chapters??
The ending doesn't have much satisfactory epilogue though. Between the MC and his ROMAboo wife, they really changed history a fucking lot, but honestly they go back to Rome just before a period of fairly shitty times in the Empire's history where they're both fairly liable to die, or their kids are going to have an awful time anyways.
The timeline didn't change at all despite the fairly advanced knowledge and theories both of them could have applied unless his waifu decides to abandon all non-Roman History knowledge and live like a foreign wife to an upper middle-class Roman dude who is gone most of the time building shit for demanding nobles.
It's already set in stone that the MC is transported to the other place, not reincarnated. Basically, the MC finds out that their father and grandfather were transported to the other dimension, spent a few years there, and came back. All of the bedtime stories they would tell to the MC were stories of what they experienced there. They also find out that their father and grandfather were subtly training them, mentally and physically, to be ready for transportation. The MC has to hope that they remember enough to actually survive. Another problem is that the world their parents were transported to was centuries into the future, so those stories aren't completely useful.
They arrive in the middle of a battle in a beam of light and kill a strong warrior. The warriors regard the MC as a holy being, take him back to their village, and begin to follow him into battle. The MC is eventually cast out by the village leaders, along with his followers, and the MC begins to gain power, Genghis Khan style. I'm still trying to figure out how the MC deals with the trauma of killing a person though.
>The Dictator's Handbook
I'll put it on my reading list, thank you.
I was thinking someone with a masters in something like geology. One of the plot points is finding and using bog iron to make stronger weapons. I want to study up more on geography and geology though. They'll know a bit of politics since they were encouraged to read about it, but they definitely won't be a walking encyclopedia. If anything, my research is to better simulate how other people react to the MC.
Ah. My assumption was that you were referring to 'stuff the author got from Wikipedia' in general, as the poster you were responded to was, rather than modern science specifically.
Is it true that the main reason RtW's author hasn't made it into a harem is because of his wife? Because I paused around 800 chapters in and author really needed to throw this poor loser a bone.
>he doesn't know how to identify uranium ore, produce fluorine to create uranium hexafluoride, and then use a mass spectrometer to enrich it to produce nuclear weaponry
It's like you didn't finish elementary school!
>I was summoned into another world without any cheats and got kicked out, but my smartphone has Wikipedia on it!
It may as well be true regardless. Nightingale's love is just plain pathetic and sad at this point. It'd be kinder to give her a death flag instead of stringing her honest love along forever.
His new novel doesn't have sex scenes, only passing mentions of them.
Perhaps there might have been some good possible changes for the early arcs, but still, your idea isn't much better because either the MC would need to be an absolute Gary Stu who somehow builds a society out of nothing without the temporary cheat skills (aside from the permanent King-blessing maybe) with nothing but a bunch of brats as manpower and wouldn't have a good reason to build a village in a forest in the middle of nowhere in the first place, or it would change genre to some sort of hardcore survival story instead of Kingdom Building. That'd be actually worse than what we got.
>I'll put it on my reading list, thank you.
add 'The Righteous Mind' to it. somewhat related, completely different perspective.
>I was thinking someone with a masters in something like geology.
'Guns, Germs, and Steel' too if you haven't already. anthropology book anthropologists shit on because it was written by a geologist.
>spectrometer
Without searching it up tell me how to make it.
Kinda dropped it after the alternate timeline reveal.
Considering that discussion maybe someone can post the Carlo Zen (Youjo Senki author) reading list again? Seems like it'd be appropiate here.
>Jin Sahyuk’s mouth was forcibly closed. Unable to say what she wanted, Jin Sahyuk shot up and pointed her finger at Aileen. Rather, she was gesturing about how Aileen’s height was ‘only this much’.
Wasn't Sahyuk and Suho immune to Aileen's Gift since they were otherworlders as well?
DELET THIS
>MC deals with the trauma of killing a person though
>Chink WN
>MC from a normal background gets transported or thrust into a fantasy/xianxia setting
>MC feels nothing after killing a person for the first time, or just offhandedly mentions feeling bad and then never addressing it ever again
I'm all for MC that can kill their enemies without remorse, but the utter disregard that mainland Chinese have for human life is frankly quite disturbing.
yes the wife meme is true.
I don't remember that.
Hajin is immune but that's because he got teleported there.
Suho and Sahyuk were reincarnated,
First off I was joking. Secondly all I remember is that you are inducing an electric charge to the gas, and then sending the gas along the field produced by an electromagnet, a really big electromagnet.
I stopped reading RtW because of this. Either shit or get off the pot, author.
Haven't you seen those videos where a chink runs over someone with his car and then gets down and murders the poor fucker in cold blood?
Is there a good isekai where MC is not quite human and has to use his wits to survive while hiding from the world while he comes up with a plan? Gathering information in a realistic way.
>the utter disregard that mainland Chinese have for human life
Nigga, they stuff live turtles and small fish into keychains barely big enough for the animal's whole body, much less move around, for amusements for someone to have that they toss into the trash once the animal's dead (these are sold mostly as kitchy local festival gewgaws that only last for a night).
99% of people worth a damn as nice person in China died somewhere between the age of colonialism and the rise of today's PRC. Only the most venal and horrendous of people remain, save for some who somehow grow up mostly altruistic.
Yeah, they're the reason why I'll never go to that shithole. I'm glad my great-grandfather fucked off out of there back when the Qing dynasty was crumbling.
>trauma of killing a person though.
Is the dead one a dick? The MC shouldn't care.
what are the best places to post my homebrew isekai manga?
i'm scared of posting on mangadex but i feel like the only option is get good at art or die in mediocrity
>or it would change genre to some sort of hardcore survival story instead of Kingdom Building.
> That'd be actually worse than what we got.
ok i am offended by that. I think a hardcore survival story would be pretty interesting. Smaller scale certainly, and they'd probably just be a small-time syndicate at most in a city after a 100 chapters if half of the orphans hadn't already been starved or beaten to death. It's not like kingdom building will ever be out of the picture just because you don't start with it.
That kind of premise reminds me of Lies of Locke Lamora, say what you will about the sequels, the first book is great.
It's a pity. China's gigantic landmass comprises so much natural beauty and wonder that would make even America blush, if not for the societal and cultural prevailing attitudes making it a silk-covered/industrialized hellhole.
because if they take care of them their whole life is fucked. It's pretty fuck up how going Samaritan will just fuck you over in that place
Drifters is the best kingdom building isekai
>the first book is great.
I couldn't even finish. The endless cocksucking and praise of Locke's infinite talents and luck was fucking annoying. It was like Overlord's praising Ainz without the ironic humor.
Which of these are actually fun?
>homebrew isekai manga
Post it on Yea Forums and get ready to be called a faggot, faggot.
I thought this was the greentext story where an user explains how chinks are worse jews than the jews.
>The Righteous Mind
>Guns, Germs, and Steel
I'll keep those in mind. I did read a bit of the latter, but I never actually finished it. I wrote a small thing on the effects of geography with regards to technological advancements, but I always had to be careful with falling into the trap of environmental determinism. I didn't like Diamond's book that much, but I'll give it another shot.
I would greatly appreciate that.
I don't think that my MC will ever reach the "killing without remorse" level, and honestly I don't want them to.
What exactly are you after?
Try an actual webcomic first, like using Hiveworks or whoever'll give you a website that will host it. If it works out well, then try moving to an actual manga aggregator that will accept non-Asian works.
I don't recommend Mangadex in general though; that's a place better for Asian works. Your stuff would get lost in all the stuff that gets updated regularly and die in obscurity.
I like this slime one, and I think its the best isekai yet.
Too bad there aren't any translation of the LN pass vol4 at the moment.
>It's pretty fuck up how going Samaritan will just fuck you over in that place
it really is, if you try to help someone they can turn around and sue you, and a common scam is to try and force that by faking an accident.
the worst part if that if you help said person
you should take care of them until they are able.
>‘Macho’ was the word she would use to describe her. Her hair was wild like the mane of a lion, and there was a deep wound slashed across her collarbone. Together with the longsword and black cape on her back, she looked too different than the last time she’d seen her.
I guess the author is really getting over Nayun. As far as I remember I never saw a macho heroine winning the MCbowl.
this one?
can i say maoism was worse than genocide?
That is uniquely the PRC's fault. As a ruthless one-party regime, they could literally write laws to generously punish crime and societal faults, but they do jack shit if it doesn't enrich someone's pockets.
Ironically, if they had a for-profit prison system for some Communist Party princeling to profit from, they'd probably enforce more laws that punish people for harming others instead of going back to finish the job (i.e. it's right now less punishment to purposely finish someone off in a hit-and-run than to just drive away and have a potential survivor to be legally beholden to provide restitution for).
>That one where Erusea's entire Aegir Fleet gets sent to Kancolle world
i will consider
i will still to pixiv and twitter then, until some faggot posts it without my permission
Both of them reincarnated. They have isekai souls but their bodies are still natives. Hajin literally transferred his body and soul otherwise he'd still be called Kim Chundong.
With or without Yellow Squadron?
Do you really expect me to read all that nigga?
Yeah, that one.
Maoism is only the latest kick in the nuts to China since other people figured out that China had silk and tea.
The Opium wars and European colonialism grab favored everybody that was a sell-out that was willing to sell drugs and brutally put down anybody who was getting in the way of business, ON TOP of the ass-backwards infighting that kept China believing it was the center of the earth and stagnating technology and progress.
>Death Flag raw updates.
>Harold is now the perfect house husband.
I didn't expect this especially since Erica went full final boss mode last chapter.
that's because vehicular manslaughter is a one time charge but if they survive your stuck paying medical bills for them forever basically in china
Wait what.
later book explains Locke is basically a tensei story and why he loves redheads or whoever that girl so much is because his wife was a redhead too
I don't remember the wank being too nauseating, but then again I read it while already being immersed in web novel shit. Even Brandon Sanderson's books are a fucking gem to me after all the web novels that I am still consuming.
Well the series is almost over anyways, according to the author just a few chapters or so to go.
Also, latest chapter has MC reunited with Lucy who's not dead. She just wasn't at home when he started crying over the grave.
Fairly lighthearted cute stuff with nice art
Honestly there's one I'm working on that's no real battling or kingdom building or anything, just like a travelogue or travel blog kind of deal as part of the story of a guy going around and just kind of describing the places he sees and their culture, histories and storie of people who live there. It's starting off in a Not-Balkans area but goddamn am I having a hard time making something I feel is convincing and trying to making up not-Slavic names without just importing shit over wholesale just leaves me stumped. I'm bad enough with naming as is.
Bertia.
There's this one too, for more chinese fuckery. Never forget.
Jesus Christ there are so many of them. I thought villainess is a relatively new trend?
>trap of environmental determinism
I haven't read much on the topic past Diamond's book, but I don't see how it's a trap. I get people shit on it because it's reminiscent of antiquated and racist ideas but just saying 'resources influence culture' seems reasonable enough. but the book is long winded and there are other reasons to not like it. seems like every attempt to make a condensed book on human anthropology stirs up a lot of controversy.
So manga? Bertia, Katarina, Felicia, Cordelia and Violette.
Why do people post these pictures of a cat, a dog, and a hug pillow in every fucking isekai thread?
I read something about the person who recently translated the side-stories from LN vol. 8.5 and 13.5 of Slime to possibly start a fanTL of the LNs.
To be fair though, JewPress releases a new volume once every April, August and December, i.e. 3 volumes per year (they released the first one in December 2017). That's actually not too bad for JewPress standards.
>writing an isekai where the protag has no special powers
>kinda wanted to make him more of an observer as he befriends people who can actually fight
>figure out an idea on how to give him a power boost
I didn't really plan to make the protag being powerless a selling point or anything. I just couldn't think of a way to justify him being able to hang with experienced hunters and war veterans in this world. I finally have a lore friendly way to give him a power boost, but I don't know if that would piss of readers and have them call it a bullshit asspull power up that turns the protag from realistic underdog to full blown mary sue.
newfag negro posting dumb shit every thread never gets old
This is only scratching the surface as well since it's only villainess series that are translated (and it's not even complete).
For example, pic related. TL fucking WHEN
new as in 5 years ago recent. Manga adaptations are popping up everywhere now that a lot of those are published as light novels.
I don't think we've had any otome-tensei anime yet, but that's definitely on its way.
It's good to let the character develop on their own like that inside the world. Especially if it feels organic.
We are our worst critics.
Bakarina will either doom it or open the floodgates.
>cops didn't shoot them
hmm hello chinks? that how you deal with angry mobs when you have a totalitarian state, you put em down for the count.
>CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Just why? She was so good with her long hair. Why are nips obsessed with this nonsense trope?
Even by isekai standards otome stories are just too fucking identical. I read a couple of them and it was really hard not to get the stories mixed up since all the characters are the same
Sounds super comfy.
Thank
this is bullshit. he's admittedly a foreigner trying to business in an incredibly competitive area without someone he trusts on the inside.
that's like walking into a tourist trap wearing a flower print shirt, khaki shorts, and a camera around your neck and then complaining that everybody is trying to rip you off.
Eh, no. How exactly are Bakarina, Eliza and Iris "identical"?
Name one Isekai novel that doesn't have a Jap trope besides being isekaid
*claps*
What about the western ones? Either the historical or new ones.
What about the male counterparts? Are there LNs where the main guy gets isekaied into the villain of a bishoujo game?
The Lazy King?
There really aren't many 'isekai'd into an eroge/moege' series. The only one that comes to mind is Katahane no Riku, and that's a FeMC.
So here's a somewhat novel question
How do i write a parade to demonstrate the might of MCs and his classmates? i already have the speech down but the actual marching, music and movement? of the whole thing eludes me, it's also where the MC introduces his magi tech power armors and Mechs to the world and i really don't want it to fuck it cause its like the thing that made me write this homebrew.
Piggy Duke, the main character basically gets reincarnated into Draco Malfoy
the anime will probably only have enough time for the first volume so eh. Also hope they try to play down her retard because it's bordering the fine line of being just plain annoying and maybe adorable.
I can't like Bakarina anymore after Athy stole my heart
Piggy Duke's world is based on a manga, right?
Read historical accounts of Roman (or even Napoleon's) triumphs.
Geography definitely has an effect on technological advancement and the formation of civilizations. That's 100% true. What I mean by "trap" is that it's so easy to get wrapped up into it that you start believing that civilizations are absolutely dependent on the surrounding environment when it's more like good environment=good chance of success. That's how I see it, anyway. My apologize for being vague.
I can think of Eroge Reincarnation ~Please Don’t Collect Onee-chan’s CGs~ and Escape Galge, but those are FeMC too.
Oh and also, "My Death Flags Show No Signs of Ending"
Neither of these are technically bishoujo games but they follow the same trend of the hero being reincarnated into a villain and needed to do various things to avoid being killed by the heroes in the original story. Dungeon Defense also somewhat has that story element.
>in every fucking isekai thread?
Ritualposting because that's culture of generals together with avatarfagging. Yes, this is a general.
>expected comfy story about a hikkikomori demon king
>ends up being nihilistic and depressing
What are the demographic for all these villainess isekai? The concept sounds like it cater toward females, but most of these artworks look shounen/seinen-ish.
it's amazing we don't have avatarfags, shieldhero doesn't count cause he fights the good fight.
I supposed it's not too bad.
But still, it'd take like three years for them to catch up to vol 13 and by then who knows what volume Fuse will be able to put out.
Can you tell me more about this fan translation guy? I haven't heard of him before.
>Aegir Fleet "The Invincible Fleet" from Ace Combat 04:Shattered Skies, gets sent to the world of Kantai Collection as shipgirls.
>Work with the chinese because is cheaper
>act surprised when you get a subpar job
if you want a comfy hikkikomori demon king read Lazy Dungeon Master instead
>it's amazing we don't have avatarfags
>posting chinkshit
>it's not Release That Witch
I'm disappointed, user
They're almost always shoujo/josei series, but certain series that really mess with the formula like Eliza or Otome Mob seem a bit more male focused.
that's what i want to now, apparently the raws are paywalled.
Alphapolis is pretty cheap, and only the volumes covered by the LNs (first two volumes) are paywalled.
if you can read bullshit isekai LNs and WNs, then surely you can read that
are the WN and LN the same?
shit crooked toes
That was what I was reading at the time so I really was expecting something like that.
Virtually
Tell us how it really is, Ping
the beauty of the villainess isekai is that it can appeal to two completely different demographics
First, it has a lot of handsome men hitting on the MC so that women can self insert
Second, it has a cute naive/brave waifu trying her best for the male readers
Female or both gender I'd say. Something like Bakarina appeals to both, but there are also obviously shoujo-ish stuff like kurukurutl.wordpress.com
Reminder that being racist is ok on Yea Forums
one day someone will shell otu money and translate it. A villainess just physically beating the shit out of people does sound like an interesting premise.
there was probably a bunch of children from local important party/army members, you don't want to take the risk
plus China is obsessed with "stability" and shooting at the children is an excellent way to get massive riots on your hands
>it's the victim's fault that the locals are fucking fraudster niggers
>read siscon Chris
>start out great
>so fun, cant stop reading
>great foreshadow, nice build up
>tfw it end in the most boring way possible, nothing happen.
It's like the author stop trying at some point.
>Hey Dom, why is Airwolf a cute girl all of a sudden?
Why is he going to China? because is cheap
pay more in some other country if you dont want to get swindled
Shit being cheap doesn't mean that you are free to ripoff the guy.
He even brings it up by mentioning that chink saying about paying more than you should or getting fucked.
If the guy bought cheap shit knowing its cheap shit and got fucked for it, then it's obviously his fault, but what happened to him was that he asked for a very particular good, was promised he would be given that particular good, paid for that particular good and then was given a different but similar good of inferior quality.
Same shit with tourist traps. Any faggot who promises something that is outright false should be hanged.
It's DasRay1911 who, by the way, also did some editing on Guro's TL for the the WN of Slime.
I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna write this shitshow of a story an unleash my autism out into the world.
not saying China isn't a shit show, but he's just being incredibly naive. walk into any country with what's basically a sign over your head saying "I'm not from around here and I have money to spend" and the result shouldn't be surprising.
pretty much. he's going into a market with lax regulation and almost zero legal options if things go south. may as well be trying to buy a ton of cocaine off the street and get surprised when things don't go smoothly.
It's his fault for believing anyone who lives in a country where it's normal to ignore a child's corpse on the street.
I'm proud of you.
What tool is that?
I thought Werewolf Isekai was a fairly decent and straightforward kingdom builder isekai. It does lean a bit heavily on the "MC is the only demon who can bridge the cultural gap with humans" idea, but it doesn't take itself too seriously or get too extreme with what problems the MC can really solve by being an army general.
Wow that was fast.
>Shit being cheap doesn't mean that you are free to ripoff the guy.
businesses grabbing whatever they can get away with is a universal truth. they're only moral as far as it serves their long term financial interests.
The Chinese already have a world for cultivation (muh chi), it is a genre.
>more like good environment=good chance of success.
that's as far as Guns, Germs, and Steel takes it if I remember correctly.
>What I mean by "trap" is that it's so easy to get wrapped up into it that you start believing that civilizations are absolutely dependent on the surrounding environment
isn't that more because there aren't as many examples of successful societies coming out of poor conditions to draw creatively from? even the Black Panther movie could only conceive of a super advanced African civilization because they were sitting on a gold mine.
I think like most webnovels that are liscensed before being finished, they don't have a proper ending in mind, so they end up shitty.
>get SUDDENLY beaten in chess, just because even though you're a yandere genius
>actually keep the stupid promise to leave for three days
I hope she isn't surprised her sister was fucking pregnant later.
Should have ended it with Michelie attempting to assassinate the prince as a final one-liner gag at least.
Which ones of these have manga adaptations? I only know Bakarina and the nun.
Which is why every country that isn't a fucking shithole was fucking rules and regulation to prevent those faggots from fucking people over.
It's quite funny that the supposed "communist" country allows corporate cunt to get away with shit that would get them in trouble in most "capitalist" countries.
Updates never.

we waited two months just for harold to cook dinner, author needs to drop the gacha drug
Bertia, Iris, Mary, Felicia, Cordelia, Violette, Britney, Irene, Isabella
Personal Wishlist: Camilla, Eliza, Erica
>final boss mode
did she finally claim whats her's by right? forcefully perhaps?
china is no longer communist
Not a novel but GBF collabs tend to go full fantasy isekai where the isekai'd collab characters deal/adapt with being isekai'd into the skydom or on how to get back.
The other end of the spectrum is gbf is just a fantasy VR game from the collabing characters POV.
there's this one I guess
Thx mate.
It's being translated officially and is already past where Asian hobbyist dropped it, just download the volumes from nyaa official LNs torrents (it's called Marchen Der Werewolf for some reason)
nyaa.si
Volume 3 was just released the other day so it should be uploaded soon.
After everything you told me, I don't want to read it anymore, but I am curious. Can you spoil me on what happens?
MD link, if you want it.
mangadex.org
>Claire reduced from a strong character with her own convictions and ideals to a damsel in distress in the final arc who does nothing but get saved, despite all the build up
What a shame.
No but her despair at realizing that she had no progress for 8 years while Lifa managed to do more for Harold in a few months made her go final boss mode in battle.
It's best to expect no isekai to actually have a satisfying ending.
I won't pretend I've read "a lot" of isekai series (especially those that are lucky enough to be translated enough to actually get to the ending), but Mushoku Tensei is the only one so far I've ever seen that has a conclusion/ending that's actually written well, or at least doesn't seem stupid and rushed.
It leaves a lot of loose ends, but that's for side stories and the continuation series it was supposed to lead into to take care of.
so fucking stupid
Sorry. I just like Jahy because she's a cute piece of garbage who won't pay her rent, but still has a glimmer of decency, and the way people like to go on about isekai being trash, but still having a spark of greatness to bring enjoyment to others.
I'll update those. I know Irene, but who are the others?
You just described Arifureta as a whole.
he gets a big harem, becomes king and then goes back to lucy.
LNs or manga work in a way that makes it hard to get satisfying endings. When the whole goal is to stretch the stories to ride on the popularity, then you have to end it in barely a few chapters when the series get axed due to popularity loss, you're bound to have very unsatisfying endings.
>Full Armor Humvee
>Reincarnated as a Slime LN has a different publisher than the manga
Why tho
For some time, I had hope Manuke FPS would be decent, but it quickly turned to shit too.
Faraway Paladin had a really good ending, shame it only has one volume but what was there was amazing
>magically fueled wipers
is good, dude gets different aliases and changes his appearance to do different things, even a skeleton captain that hunts pirates
That shit looks like it was built with those Lego Technic sets.
>read Night Ranger
>realize over half the story including the ending revolves around the prequel novel's MC's shenanigans
>there's no translation for the prequel
>there's no translation for the sequel
>neither prequel nor sequel are even acknowledged on NU
Now I can understand that it's not really a great novel and all, but why the heck would anyone just pick a novel smack dab in the middle? Especially if no one is planning to translate the prequel or sequel.
Also how many other isekai novels out there use D&D as much as Night Ranger? I'm guessing only chink novels can do it since they don't fear copyright issues.
>bullied by entire school population just because he close to one of the most popular girl
>The girl somehow doesn't know about the bullying despite the entire school participate in it.
>MC accept it like a cuck anyway and treated like cool loner guy.
I dropped that shit after the retarded MC allowed his entire party to get by using shitty weapons.
And I know the premise is that the MC is dumb but it honestly doesn't feel like he is actually dumb most of the time and the times when he does feel more like the author himself being a retard than deliberate stupidity.
It continues though (at least in LN form). I've been waiting for more to be translated.
It doesn't stay as good (or as original) as it was in the first arc before Will leaves the temple, but it's still pretty good. The dragon/mountain arc is hype as fuck even if it's nearly a carbon copy of the Hobbit obviously run as a DnD campaign.
Web Novel "I Don’t Want to Become a Villainess, So I Aim at Becoming a Perfect Lady Together with the Prince!" is getting a LN Serialization release on 27th March 2019
The Cover Art has been released today
>[Kindspring Winter]
>The portrait of her servant bore a frightening resemblance to Kim Hajin. Except for the hair color and the bushy beard, they looked the same, just like herself and Prihi.
>So in the end, it was true.
>Kim Hajin was Kindspring, and so he had no choice but to resent her. Because everything was her fault to begin with….
>“…Fuck.” She swore quietly. Unable to keep her eyes open, she dropped her head on the desk. >Nausea filled her throat. Her memory seal partly eroded, and now, she was suffering from old memories and regret.
Man, guilt hits like a fucking truck... an isekai truck.
Is it strange that it is getting me hard?
Can you at least put the titles of the series on it too?
>Chanting "We want fairness. There is no fairness if you do not let us cheat."
God fucking damnit, these fucking otome series have got to stop making such cute, beautiful girls that won't ever get a proper porn doujin.
2 more chapters and I'll be able to binge this. Do the links on NU have illustrations or do I gotta ask for them here?
Jesus, so I tried going back to where I left off in RtW to see if I could get back into it
>Starts as isekai about mechanical engineer revolutionizing the land with science and witches
>Fast forward 790 chapters
>Roland and Phyllis went back to the KFC store and found a door leading to the shopping mall in its staff area. As he had expected, the loud bang had scared most shoppers away. They only saw a mess behind the door.
>Instead of getting into the McDonald's where the Fallen Evil had awakened, he asked Phyllis to summon her Blade Claws and release her magic power in the mall. Based on what he knew, a Fallen Evil would sense the power and eagerly run after it. The burnt-face man had been attracted by him in this way and had even mistaken him as a martialist.
>Soon, with a loud explosion, the back door of the McDonald's was torn apart. A roaring man rushed out of its staff area in the smoke and darted at Phyllis without a word.
Name?
There is a part where the author wholesale rips off 300.
That's what pastebin is for.
Novelupdates + Character name + Villainess
you're welcome
Is Rachel the only girl in Hajin's harem who didn't get ultra guilt-triped?
...
TNE is a novel about bullying fetishes user.
There aren't many.
The sad part is that they're technically not wrong. EVERYBODY ELSE in the entire country is already cheating, and artificially driving up the scores of the competition. Not allowing them to cheat and go on their own abilities/knowledge puts them statistically behind the score curve. The situation is fascinating and pathetic at the same time.
Oh baby.
What I mean is that at first the MC had powerful weapons to help him survive in the isekai, while also had serious flaws and limitations that made him vulnerable, especially as he lacked magic in a world driven by it. Then he just finds a way to get unlimited gold and ammo, an auto-regen and a fucking item box in a few chapters, basically rendering all his flaws non-existent and making him a steam machine rolling on everything.
The sad part is that it's implied that cheating is so rampant these citizens have zero faith in their country's institutions to maintain fair play in the first place.
>Have my writing ranked on a college graduate level.
I expect no less of myself.
Long finger is LOOONG.
That's not a good thing if you're writing genre fiction, you do know that, right?
Thank you user.
If the manga/LN has the same ending as the WN is better if you just drop it.
Yeah, RtW went the bizarre xianxia route for some reason. It feels like the author wanted to write another story but couldn't for some reasons so he decided to work it into RtW. Experimental Logs of the Crazy Lich is still the best Chink WN for me.
After the contest for the throne falls when Roland takes the capital city and it becomes some sort of thousand-year post-apocalyptic mystery prophecy scenario is when RtW stops being enjoyable and readable compared to when it started. It was already showing signs of being increasingly retarded by then but at least there was an endpoint in sight, rather than endless filler and increasingly bullshit enemies and contrived situations.
I dropped somewhere after that, did the same as you for about ten chapters after that first drop, then dropped it completely to now. It's a shame it's so dumb when it had so much starting premise.
i dropped this the moment he starts telling a sob story during the date with the chick right after they were just talking about taking it chill or something.
Yes.
>tl;dr: While most LN/WN have good story ideas they are written like shit
This book seems like it was written to piss me off. This author is one of the most tell not show writers I have ever seen. It just pages on pages of talking heads going on and on. This isn't helped by the fact that the writer has no voice, so every character sounds the same. Also when did it become ok to shift from 1st person limited to 3rd person limited in the same chapter. I will be reading as the MC in 1st person, then there is a break and now I am in 3rd person, not even going to get started on how there are like 3 or 4 pov shifts in a chapter that are mostly needless. Another thing I would like to know if this book is a retelling of past events or are we following the MC as he experiences events? I only ask because the MC looks like he is in the present but then the narrator likes to chime in on how the MC action will affect the future. Which only begs to ask why is there a narrator if most of the book is written in the 1st person.
This feel like someone tried to transcribe a manga into a book, which I admit is a common pitfall for new writers. They watch a lot of film and TV so they write a book that mimics that style. Talking heads going on and on in a manga can work since there are pictures to show action while the people are talking, but when you have that in a book it doesn't work. I once hated on LN cause I thought their plots were bad, however I have come around and can enjoy them for the self indulgent ride they are. However the fact of the matter is that Realist whatever it is called, is written like shit. I know that LN/WN author aren't pros but come on. I write for fun and I was able to see all these mistakes.
I swear it seems like the only LN I have read where it seem the writer knew even the basics of writing was Spice and Wolf. If anyone know of other LNs that show the author has basic competence on how to write a story.
>End up having a ton of Togashi type fans that think I'm 10,000 IQ
I'm fine with that.
i'm glad i dropped it. it's such a shame when you get those isekai that start strong and then just get worse as it goes on
spoil me please
Name of said novel?
>when best girl can't hold back being best anymore
as long as toes
How is China not a third world country at this point?
Everyday's life with a cuck and his sister, mother, aunt, childhood friend and bully.
That's what I'd be going for and seeing too if I can believably write a history and stuff for an alternate world. But I hate powerwank/RPG cheat mode shit.
I always wonder if beastfolk have a double pair of ears.
You should be aiming at the 6th-8th grade level to get the most money.
I kept going with it, mainly because I only really cared about the kingdom building/technological revolution. My favorite parts of the story were always when the pov shifted to the commoners.
big parts of it are still 3rd world in the countryside
Goddammit, Mahaya.
The problem is that they're so very, very socially trained to accept bribery and cheating as the actual way you do things.
This even goes back to their ancient history where they're supposed to give offerings of money and sweets to minor Taoist/Confucian gods BECAUSE they can buy their way out of hell and/or bad luck/karma.
I was part of a healthcare ethics class and it had a horrifying portion dedicated to how shitty China's otherwise modern healthcare system is in how it's EXPECTED that even if the doctor is well-meaning and honest even in normal (i.e. NOT a selfish, venal mercenary that would make Warham Skaven blush but a well-adjusted human being that would help others more or less than anybody else in the industrialized world) sense, people give (read: force) tacit gifts and bribes to doctors in hopes they'll give special attention to their families.
It also creates an awkward give and take where the doctor's can't practice proper medicine without showing that they're doing their part for the gifts, and if the patient does badly just because of being sick, they get blamed for it and are then in trouble for being ratted-out for taking bribes/gifts/
She's only a damsel in distress according to others, she herself doesn't see the situation that way at all, and is following her beliefs to the letter.
I see that you are a man of culture as well.
You can't fool me user that one is Doctorate level.
Their insane numbers. Statistically, since the % of successful and/or intelligent people is generally fixed in the world and since China has a fuckton of inhabitants, of course there will be more than any other country. Same applies for fuckers and thieves, though.
>read Tensei Kenja no Isekai Raifu's manga
>pretty funny
>go to read the WN
>no update since January
Damn it.
That one was shit because the author had to make everyone in that world a drooling retard in order to make the MC look relatively smart. Which is really common in isekai in general.
MC sacrifices himself , dies and then finds himself revived in the same world but this time he has his original jap body not the game avatar and he has the abilities of a newly created character in that VMB game
>It's another the upper class live like kings while everyone else eats dirt to survive episode.
I really like this Isekai. I started reading the LNs awhile back and started the manga recently. I'm so glad they make the characters in the manga look much older compared to the LN. Shit was creeping me out how young they looked in the LN.
Their economy rocks the world.
It doesn't technically matter how that money is concentrated into the hands of a few, very corrupt people; they're a gigantic player in world politics because they're facilitating a large part of how the global economy keeps everybody employed. Keeping PRC China afloat keeps the rest of the world from degrading into a giant planet-wide recession at this point.
It makes her principled stand less believable when she and her father just sit there in silence the whole time whilst everyone else shows up and grandstands.
All is forgiven after doing the illustrations for the pure fun that was Zashiki Warashi.
>My favorite parts of the story were always when the pov shifted to the commoners.
That's why I kept reading at all (they were also my favorite, especially that mini-arc with the random dude who rises from peasant to a fairly-well educated, for the time period, soldier officer), but Roland and his witch not-a-harem made me so annoyed that I just couldn't take it anymore.
>giant planet-wide recession
I told you, man. I TOLD YOU ABOUT 2008!
How's that homebrew manga going on? Would love to learn a thing or two from you.
Which one is the OH HO HO HO~iest?
I tried with my novel (which is in spanish) for shits and giggles and got that same level.
I don't know what to make of it.
violating laws and robbing billions in tech from the west every year to prop up their local populations retardation and stay competitive with the first world
imgur if it's a beta, like pastebin for homebrew novels. post it here.
It written in the cuck's perspective while exploring his psyche and mentality.
Just so you know, it's also common in Japan (though it's not really bribery, but "thank you" gifts).
Mushoku Tensei
It's actually fantasy literature in its own right. Yes, it's mostly juvenile/crude and too horny for its own good, but it's actually a story that could otherwise stand up on its own feet unless the translations get shitty (and boy howdy do they get shit, at least when I was reading it).
it gets back on track when the kingdom engages in war with the demons in earnest. and the higher ranking demons aren't the punching bag the other humans were.
Yes but remember potato was alien plan from the New World and who the fuck knew what it would do if you eat them.
This is why people let the French, Irish and Poles to eat then first since if they died, nothing of value would be lost.
No I'm serious. The name?
Rude.
Heck, that's the same for most Asian cultures as a proper way of paying at least customary respect to someone (situationally) important.
Their culture has been a near-carbon copy of China's since the Nara period. Japan got away with being a shithole though, since their own isolation protected them from most of the worst parts of the colonial shit happening in mainland Asia.
>Fridge body.
At least have the character have some hips
Parmentier's keikaku to get people to eat potatos was quite hillarious
>getting bullied by past and present Hajin
HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
>and the higher ranking demons aren't the punching bag the other humans were.
To me that made it worse. Roland's O MY WITCH NEN keeps coming up with witches that coincidentally are able to help him fight/build rather than him just engineering his way out of a problem.
That'd be babby-tier compared to what would happen if China's economy actually fell out (unless every other nation worked together to create a new economic structure, which in many ways it's starting to head to, after how China keeps expanding territory claims).
It kind of makes sense why young masters are so prevalent in their stories. What amazes me is the fact that the regular citizens (i.e. the authors of these stories) realize that these types of people are a problem (it's why the always portray them in such a negative light), but two hundred chapters down the line, they get their MCs to do the very same thing when they get power (i.e. flaunt wealth and 'face slap').
You mean O MY DREAMWORLD BUREAU.
What were they supposed to say? Especially since they're both patriots, and condemning Salas is definitely in national interest.
>by the way, I can lend you this super useful skill
how convenient
coming right up
It's probably a cultural pathos. They don't really know what to do OTHER than that. But we also have to admit that power fantasies and wish fulfillment for hedonism/debauchery are a large reason why people read isekai/tensei stories anyways, so there's some selection bias going on as compared to, say, straight fantasy.
>Edgy antitheist communism espousing chinkshit
Nah, fuck that man.
>Yeonha so tinfoil that she starts theorizing about being Hajin's lover because he knows everything about her
>slowly warms up to the idea of a harem
>meanwhile, boss is going beyond that can be called deredere
why is defrosting the ice queen such a good trope?
>the church is a political faction for its own gain and very willing to use violence to enforce its rule and aims
I mean it's pretty fucking warranted. It's like the Pope casting political might over Christendom in the post-Roman Empire era.
Fairytale of the werewolf
wasn't talking about the generals. HEAT rounds and nukes would be overkill if he was still fighting humans.
I just want to brush Boss' hair
I'm honestly tired of the the local Not!Catholic Church always being the evil dudes with their gods being secretly evil or their messages corrupted while the demons are totally cool dudes that don't eat humans and are just misunderstood or such variants.
I get that initially it was to stand out against the generic 'Demon Lord Bad, Church Good, Dragon Quest is awesome' story but it's just tiring now.
When the fuck are we getting the next Faraway Paladin volume?
Except that wasnt what happened, the Church had little military power and the Popal Office was very much a political gain, why do you think there were so many Anti-Popes around during that time?
What the Church did was offering a excuse, you wanted to invade and take over some land? You want to remove a political rival? excommunication.
What Japan seems to have is the incredible naive and WRONG notion from Protestants that only have it because The Roman Church Is Evil.

>some orcs are female some are futa
>they proceed to have hot sweaty stinky orc sex with him. Forcing him to eat out their stinky orc butts and suffocating him with their sweaty orc armpits
>the whole village runs a train on him, shattering his pelvis into dust
>but they use their white mage orc to heal him if he gets close to dying
>this goes on for a year. The shota is reduced to being a mind broken fleshdildo
>in the end he’s so mindbroken that the only thing he can say anymore is zug zug
I have no fucking clue. It's been like a year with no notice since the side story volume. I'm not a member of J(ew)-Novel Club though, so I don't know if there's more updates that I haven't seen.
yeah nah fuck fedora fags and fuck chink shit
*reforms*
>futa
westerners are so obsessed with penis
The author is in a year long writers block and doesn't know where to take the story now that william defeated the big bad dragon, personally i would like to see him go full kingdom bulding mode while spreading gracefeel's word so she get powerful enough for HOT DIVINE SEX
When author gets past that writer's block. The end goal is clear (Spread the faith of Gracefeel so Will can finally marry her), but then you gotta figure out a good path toward that.
I dropped Release that Witch after the Dreamworld shit but from what I remember the Church isn't really evil, it's just an organization formed by ancient witches that was trying to farm witches to make superhuman soldiers that could fight the demons or some shit.
At worst they were amoral, ruthless and kind of misguided.
>there's a translation for a returner's magic should be special
thank the gods for this
The problem is hypocrisy rather than actual might. The Church (and honestly every major religious institution in every culture/society) was playing where it shouldn't with dubious promises of paradise for doing this or that that obviously benefited them or their allies. Don't get hung up on the Christian history comparison part; my statement was to realize that Roland wasn't very wrongful for going for secularity and humanism early on rather than using any religious institution as a societal pillar by the peasantry/common-people that could obviously make things even worse.
The MTL one? Or someone really started translating it?
if there's a church, there's a 99% chance the young nun in white&blue is kind a use healing magic, and the pope is evil and tries to destroy the world or save it in a way that involves destroying it
I don't get it either. It's so weird how they keep self-inserting in a sub or obviously feminine-with-penis-benefits role as well.
Literal 1st chapter of the novel
>Oh shit I time traveled or something? Science can't do that
>Look at these retards blaming natural phenomena on 'witches.'
>Religion is the tool of evil
All before the witch or the clergy actually shows up and reveals that magic is real and maybe the Church in this world might have a point.
This is some fedora tipping nonsense.
you don't understand, mom
The one thing that bothers me about RtW is how Roland instantly knows that the Church's claims that the witches are evil and suck demon cock are false.
Dude has spent like 5 minutes in that world and his memories from the original Roland are worth shit because he was a hedonistic cunt who never picked a book and yet he knows with 100% certainty that Anna isn't possessed by the Devil, to the point that he risks his ass letting her use her power around him.
If he didn't just happen to be right he would have died like a retard.
WHERES AMBER SWORD DID THE FURRY FINALLY KICK THE BUCKET?
What's the name?
There's already a doujin like that, just swap thicc sexy orcs for thicc, sexy futa Tengu.

>Turns out the 'man' is actually an 'otherworldy wizard' that plops between worlds just for fun.
>He helps him fix Truck-Driver's truck, but he add extra things to the truck.
>One of them allows him to go through different worlds with ease.
>Hijinks ensues as Truck-Driver and Wizard-guy test out the device to get optimal routes for delivering stuff.
>yet he knows with 100% certainty that Anna isn't possessed by the Devil, to the point that he risks his ass letting her use her power around him.
>If he didn't just happen to be right he would have died like a retard.
It's actually self-selecting for this. He doesn't believe Anna is possessed by the devil because that's a fucking stupid idea for anybody in our world, much less an atheist; he'd obviously believe that to be superstitious hoo-haw (ignoring the fact that he's been isekai tensei'd). The part of him dying if she WAS possessed by a demon would mean we'd get no RtW series at all, because he'd be a dead dumbass.
He's talking about the part where he doesn't believe in magic but then Anna demonstrates her power over fire.
Instantly, Roland does not reassess the idea that if magic is real, the Church might have a point and demons and other idea of fantasies might be real either. No, he instantly realizes that this is 'just' a human being with supernatural abilities being kept down by the Church for no good reason.

pretty okay
>why is defrosting the ice queen such a good trope?
I'd rather have dicking the ice queen before defrosting.
But that's my point, he bases his judgement on values from our world even when shown that magic is actually a thing in that world and ultimately survives due to sheer luck.
That's not exactly the best way to start a story.
I could see it beginning with the dragon arc being so horrendously copied from the Hobbit's premise, right down to the lost Dorf prince finding his courage to go on a quest with other heroes to take back his birthright against an evil and powerful dragon.
If anything, despite the hype of Will becoming part-dragon and getting a power boost, that arc was actually less interesting to me than the world-building volume that came after it, where Will and friends go on silly filler adventures that fill out their lifespans (like the fencer dude getting married and Will escorting the not-loli bard to the magic college).
>Roland won't get to settle down with Anna, Nightingale, and Tilly
>slowly warms up to the idea of a harem
Where did you get this idea?
He certainly won't with that last one. She's an alpha dyke.
The Church wasn't evil and the author never painted them as such. He actually built up sympathy for the sane members, and redeemed them later. Like this user said, the enemy was seemingly impossible to defeat unless they took drastic measures(before Roland came through). They also weren't the only enemy, since everyone was fighting for political power in that clusterfuck created by the king's death. Otherwise, you can't really have a medieval setting without religion being prevalent, so criticizing it because of that is stupid.
>communism
Roland is/will be an immortal enlightened visionary, so who cares.
I just want more stagnate teasing and william kicking ass and restoring the south to its former glory, then a new big bad can rise up and fight him
The current arc is getting so hype, I hope he can pump out chapters smoothly this month.

Civilization and Great Man Theory is my guess. There's been this stuff before but video games kind of accelerated this push.
I make do with rip offs in the mean time.
Isn't that mostly from translations though? A fuckton of translators suck at making prose from different languages.
I tried reading the one with the mage named link, it was just meh? like it didn't had the impact tas has.
What are some good kingdom building isekai that preferably leans on politics to get things done?
I call them rip offs for a reason. Summoning the Holy Sword is probably the closest one in similarities that I've found so far but it's like two tiers below TAS in every aspect. The only advantage it has is high release frequency cause it's on jewdian.
That is the best one when it comes to jap isekai it's not fully kingdom building as well and just has its own thing going.
I mean he is teaching a BUNCH OF KIDS. It's not like they'd have known about it one way or another.
Is Dr Stone isekai?

instead of thinking about what those people did with their knowledge, think about how they reached those conclusions.
if you're going for democracy read up on John Locke, Thomas Jefferson and Samuel Adams. make sure you read on their pitfalls as well.
Kingdom's Bloodline.
I think the next arc in the WN was supposed to be Stagnate calling in that favor he now owes her, but we'll have to wait and see where it goes.
Why does everyone who brings up Machiavelli have no idea what he wrote about?
We are hundreds of chapters into the novel and Thales hasn't even been allowed to govern a farm yet, let alone a kingdom. It has lots of politics and schemes but there's no building involved.

And what the fuck are the odds of a good tyrant, so just make it a republic.

Unironically The Isolator. It's by the SAO author, but it's so many leaps and bounds ahead of SAO in its creativity and its ability to characterize and develop its cast that I could not have told you they were produced by the same mind.

> just couldn't think of a way to justify him being able to hang with experienced hunters and war veterans in this world.
Besides power-ups (unless you really want that), there are other ways you could "justify" that: maybe your characters helps them with money and supplies or information through other contacts, heal their wounds, cleans their equipment or is actually good at dealing with people/negotiation. Or provides moral support, through confessions or recording their adventures and persons, giving them a sense of their lives having some sort of purpose, like a priest or chronicler of the group.
For comparison, see the character of Croaker in the Black Company novels, specially at the beginning.

I'm writing isekai gash bell rip off
What's going on today? This thread fills up so fast like no isekaigen ever before!
>I swear it seems like the only LN I have read where it seem the writer knew even the basics of writing was Spice and Wolf. If anyone know of other LNs that show the author has basic competence on how to write a story.
You should probably stop reading LNs that were originally amateur WNs. Stick to the recognizes big names and stuff from established proper writers.
Gash Bell was technically Isekai
KIYOMARO NEVER WENT TO DEMON WORLD
MOVIE AIN'T CANON
Gash was also a protag and he went to a different world than his.
Reverse isekai
I can compromise with that.
See . Not only did the madman do a full port of spells, locations, etc. from DnD, but he also did a great job of weaving them into a coherent story based in fantasy-Earth.
Also pic related is based EXTREMELY loosely on DnD
My main problem is that most of the good writers don't have their stuff translated. In the US writers are more willing to have their work translated to see if they hit it big in a random overseas market. However overseas writers don't bother and US publisher aren't about to push some random book from another country.
I have looked into fantasy novels from other countries but most of the ones that look cool are never translated.
>most of the ones that look cool
>look cool
>novels
>translated
And how do you judge novels that you can't understand are good if you can't read them?
the story and setting and characters are all great, but the author spends too much time on superfluous bullshit that doesn't matter like describing all of the clothing in excruciating detail
I don't give a shit about how perfectly a (brand) of (dress type) in (color) matches with (brand) of (shoe type) in (other color) and how it impresses (group of people) so much, jesus christ
stick to combat, politics, and worldbuilding dammit
I read summaries come on man get your head out of your ass you know what I was trying to say.
No I actually don't, I don't assume people judge by merely summaries because that would mean I assume you're a fucking idiot.
So you are saying you read the first book of any new series you pick up, or do you just read the first chapter. Unlike a lot of people I tend to by books I read so to save time and money I will read the author's summary of the book to see if I want to read it or not. If the author is any good they should be able to sum up their book to get me to want to read it.
>If the author is any good they should be able to sum up their book to get me to want to read it.
If you take this logic and apply it elsewhere it'd be like claiming a good product is based on their marketing. Once again, you're an idiot and have shallow standards. That's fine, because like you mentioned, you don't have time to invest. But don't pretend that you aren't a casual and that you have good taste.
Summaries are bloody worthless the grand majority of the time.
Problem with that is despite the growing economy, the gdp per capita is still bad. It's like how Switzerland and India have relatively same GDP but population size is vastly different, thus not as stable.
Release that Witch is the most popular isekai bar none and its about kingdom building (its also Chinese, so japanese got btfo as they can't write serious story at all)
OH MY DREAM WORLD
such great writing
Look if I was just going to pirate books then I would be fine with just reading a few chapter to see if it was any good. However I really don't see how you all can sit on a high horse when at least I am willing to pay the writers for their work. Again I would ask how you pick books to read if you don't use summaries, do you just buy books read a few chapters and if you don't like it just drop it. That seem rather expensive to me, but I guess that is a better way to get a feel for the book rather than reading a summary.
>is the most popular isekai bar none
Maybe if you base that claim on the bot-infested viewcounts in Qidian, otherwise no, not even close.
What happened to its translation? Did the guy that was translating it die or something?
> All these otome isekai
> they're never as frisky enough as the real otome.
Come on.
1346 translated chapters and counting, last update was a few hours ago. What do you mean?
i can't believe Elizabeth is fucking dead
>However I really don't see how you all can sit on a high horse when at least I am willing to pay the writers for their work.
Why are you already deflecting? You come off incredibly defensive and keep projecting over and over. It's not that we are on high horses, it's that you're a casual and you think your standards should be the benchmark, and you try to justify it simply by you not having time and you willing to spend money, both of which have nothing to do with our criticism towards your shallow posts. This is why I call you an idiot, you're like a child who has to have the last word and make validations for your ignorant choices yet still wants people to spoon feed you. Ask yourself, why would anyone help you with the attitude you've shown?
Most otome shit don't even have a villainess. The capture targets are usually big enough jerks for that role.
Sounds really cute. Even without a harem or bitches, sounds beautiful
it's a fucking quidan title, that's what
everything past ~894 is locked behind bullshit pay system last I checked
>Catching an arrow mid-flight.
Yeah sure you autistic stalker.
There absolutely are R-18 otome isekai.
>He doesn't know
God I hate this.
For all the garbage Drifters did it at least got saltpeter production right.
Don't worry user I know, but others may not unless they go deliberately looking.
Is that ren being spiteful? I'd understand if he was, considering the scumbaggery that QI did.
Him not making a harem is the worst thing about this story. Just cock some witches you fucking faaaag.
No. Ren and Wuxiaworld never had anything to do with RtW. It was Volarenovels (and later some other FanTL called Seki) who TLed RtW before QI took it.
Added bonus:
>Isekai natives try to hijack Truck-Driver kun's Truck via various methods.
>Fails due to various self-defence methods.
>One of their methods finally gets them into the truck.
>They either fail to drive it due to lacking the keys, or trigger one of its anti-hijack systems.
>Demon lord tries to lure Truck-Driver into running over Hero via Truck.
>Fails due to new road safety system
Are any of the other witches outside of Anna and Nightingale even interested in a relationship with him?
I mean he built up the enemy kingdom.
I made a comment about how books with summaries that seemed interesting aren't translated. You said I was dumb for using summaries to pick what books to read. I stated that I don't like to pirate books, and would rather not pay full price for a book I don't like. Call me old fashioned but I still go to bookstores to buy book when I can. If the summary on the dust jacket or the back of the book can't see me then I will give it a pass. Unless a friend or someone whose opinion I trust puts me on to a book I am not going to go into it cold. I also don't have the time to just read a few chapters of a book to see if I would like it.
If you have a better way of finding out if a book is worth a read or not I am all ear. I mean all of this is taking away from the main point of my original post which was that a lot of good books from other countries never get a good translation.
You got me.
That's also the solution too many other isekai MC with harems need to arrive at.
I'm referring to the site which stores everything QI owned WN site has for free.
What's the name of that one isekai where the MC and his bro with glasses have to rebuild a kingdom. I know there was a mummy waifu in it.
You spent all that time typing just to repeat yourself?
Not like the manhwa or trailer have good designs.
I think this was one of the isekai I dropped because it was so dumb while trying to pretend to be smart. I prefer isekai with >demihuman slave, wat do? to "WOW OUR PEASANTS NEVER THOUGHT TO EAT COOKED RICE SASUGA ISEKAI KING-SAMA"
Link or hint please. Fuck the Chink overlords and their bullshit SS system.
And what does that have to do with Ren? Is there any evidence that backs up the idea that Ren is involved with any aggregator sites aside from the whole grudge issue?
Some of the older pastebins are broken.
Try searching around for qidanunderground they have a table of content with everything.
So the one about the reincarnated 4th prince who is responsible for a border town.
I can't believe I am enjoying this and looking forward to it!
i remember that one. Vampire imouto a cute. i don't remember the name either since i don't think i've seen a new chapter of it in a long while
Thanks m8. Have this cute Russkie plane.
Drop it after the church climax. You'll know when it happens.
What about someone who is building/rebuilding two, and has a harem that wants him to make enough children to form a third?
That bad after?
Thanks for the warning good user!
Why is japan so fixated on harem?
so what are the chances this series depicts japan and its allies also doing some of the unjust shit that always happens during war?
i really hope its not just their enemies who are evil.
>implying japan can do any wrong
This was clearly just a setup to show japan as being perfectly in their rights to fuck some assholes up.
The Spanish?
It's wuxiaworld.co
Fairly certain that wuxiaworld.co has nothing to do with RWX. They're probably just using that name since it's famous and they want to seem more reliable.

it's too lewd for blue board.

Just the name is fine

Best friend was a real bro anyway. He deserved it.
Based Nipponese love for Eagle-kun.
>I just couldn't think of a way to justify him being able to hang with experienced hunters and war veterans in this world
Maybe he's just a nice guy and they enjoy his company?
That's what happens when you unify corporate interests and government power into a single institution.
You can call it regulatory capture, or you can call it statism, they're both the same thing. It's wrong for the goverment to be too involved with business and vice versa, and really, one begets the other.
My three week long marathon of daily homebrew chapters just came to an end.
It'll be updated at a more reasonable pace from now on.
That's less a problem with capitalism versus communism, and more the fact that many of these communist countries run on a strong patronage system.
Literally depends on how well it's written
What you just posted was written poorly
>feudal kingdom
>cash crops
That has nothing to do with capitalism vs. communism and more to do with third world vs. non-third world country. Because you're an idiot if you think China isn't a third world country.
India has the same problem despite being a (nominal) capitalist democracy, in fact India has it way worse.
But, like, what does it even mean to be third or first world?
Isn't that describing the state, rather than the cause?
America is a third world country nowadays actually, due to its decaying infrastructure and poor people.
Maybe, but I wouldn't say America's infrastructure is decaying BECAUSE it's a third world country.
That's just a rating, not an underlying cause of anything.
The technical definition of the word actually refers to being aligned with the US vs. being unaligned with the US. The First World is the US-aligned powers during the Cold War. The Second World was the USSR aligned powers, and the Third World were those that either didn't pick a side, frequently changed sides, or had their own agenda. In that sense, China was the biggest Third World country since the Sino-Soviet split certainly made them no friends of the Americans.
The way I'm using it I'm referring to their development. They're relatively undeveloped in the civic sense of the word. Laws and culture takes time to take root. In both India and China it's getting better and there's a tremendous generational divide between those who grew up in actual farming villages, those who grew up in cities back when everything was cutthroat if you wanted to survive, and those who grew up on relative milk and honey. India doesn't have the milk and honey stage but the idea holds.
In any case I find it relatively strange that of all the things to accuse communists of it's lack of protection for consumers. US corporate law is some of the worst I've ever seen.
Cause has nothing with it.
I prefer the classics, like this very low key Xianxia.
China has a very long history. It's not unreasonable to try and find cause of their lack of development in some of their unique features.
The original post did point out the irony of the consumer rights thing. People that advocate for more state interference in the market often point towards america's awful practices as a result of free markets. But, ironically enough, the powerful communist states where government interference is taken to its logical extreme, are even worse.
But that's the rub. There are two ways to create a corporatist state, either allow the corporations to become so powerful that they seize legislative power, or allow the state to become so powrful that they seize the means of production. The result is the same.
Plenty of Japanese isekai have sociopath MCs who the moment they get transported from their ordinary life to a fantasy world they start killing with no hesitation. It's shitty writing rather than an indication that all the Chinese/Japanese have no value for human life.
america has never been considered 3rd world by any metrics we use to measure it. it's still a developed nation.
and then there's the original cold war definitions of the three worlds
anyways, i'd consider china to still be a 2nd world country, whatever that really means in a post-coldwar world
There's still a difference between a medival society and sub saharan dirt tribes
It is not meaningful to do so. More intelligent people than you and I have tried and come up with contradictory answers, not least dependent on how you think of Chinese philosophy. People point to Confucianism, for example, except in the actual affairs of government it was Legalism that prevailed for the most part.
More to the point, it's unreasonable because for most of its history it wasn't poor compared to the rest of the world. It wasn't even poor when the Opium Wars hit it, really - there are studies that claim 4000 calories per day was normal for farmers in the Nanjing region and that they could eat honey on a regular basis. Backwards to be sure but not poor.
You can't reduce it to 'unique features' because honestly a lot of their unique features are the same things that philosophers of governance during the early modern period were espousing. The civil service in the British Empire was an almost direct copy of the Imperial Examinations and iirc Voltaire couldn't shut the fuck up about muh enlightened Chinese Empire. The main unique feature that it shares with a lot of other shithole nations is being wartorn, devastated, and poor for most of the past century or more.
If you think that the US is in as bad a state as Somalia then you're fucking delusional. Even the poor people in the US are vastly wealthier than actual 3rd world poor.
It's probably an American griping
Mind they have a lo to gripe about but most of them have never seen or experienced real poverty
Yeah. He's like a spoiled brat who whines about the state of the US when he has no idea how badly off other countries are.
Someone make a new thread the other one went to shit.
Here comes the burger defence force.
>america is 3rd world, i saw a pothole the other day
I'm not American, but calling the US a 3rd world country is fucking retarded. Try going to an actual 3rd world country before saying that.
Yep, butthurt americans alright.
so are you just pretending to be retarded?
if you are, you got me. le epic trolle bro
It's okay, thirdworlder.
I'm Chinese. It would be great if America were actually third world. Turns out they aren't.
You missed a few posts janny, clean up the poo-poo.
