This sounds really bold but Osamu is unironically one of my favorite shonen protagonists period. He isn't as wacky or fun as say, Luffy or Goku, but he presents a very grounded, "human" approach to the heroic sort of protagonist. His character is realistic with setbacks and he is established as fundamentally decent and goodhearted without being blindingly over-the-top altruistic, and that makes him feel more like a person who I actually want to follow.

Osamu and Kikuchihara could be good friends someday.

His face definitely seems sliiightly longer, more defined and less soft than it was early in the series. I want to say it was deliberate, but Ashihara's art has definitely changed subtly over time, and improved now that he's working monthly.

More like Hyuse just did too well too fast. On his recruitment day, Hyuse entered B-rank, and also defeated a ton of top class Attackers in 1v1 sword duels, and his first match had him easily outclassing probably everyone. In this case, anyone would be wondering what is up with this guy. Being outed as a Neighbor, especially one who took part in the invasion, would cause way more issues than just to Osamu's team, but Border as a whole.

I hope Yuba squad don't end up being filler like Ouji squad. I get there's only so many variations ypu can do using border triggers but I'm hoping that they'll be interesting in their own way.

Their loadout is pretty vanilla, so it'll depend on how their personality is like.

Hyuse being outed as one of the people who attacked the town and kidnapped children would create tons of problem for Border.

Ouji felt like the main antagonists of Round 6 since they were the ones who were hellbent on destroying the Spider formation before it could be set up. I wouldn't consider them filler at all.

Chika's training before all this got back to me. The trainer (for got his name) said that Chika's problem isnt shooting at people wasnt it? She can shoot humanoid targets without hesitating, unlike other new snipers, but just out right refuses to hit any real life target. How do you think this will affect her later on?

Pretty high. I'd put it under Hunter x Hunter, but above everything else I've seen. I couldn't say it's OBJECTIVELY AMAZING or anything, because it's clear it tries to do something very different than most other series. But it does that something really well.

I like World Trigger as it is, but I think it would have been more fitting for it to be a weird sport manga, the team battles are by far the best part even though I do like the neighbor stuff and the world building

Also given that individuals outside of the top 2 B Rank teams will be chosen, I'm guessing the big thing of this arc was introducing us to characters that we will mainly spend the majority of our time with going forward.

I doubt it would work with Osamu as a protagonist. Make him a passable fighter too quickly and it will ruin suspension of disbelief. Having him work for it would take too much time and the development would be spread too thin. In this case the story allows him to cheat so to speak, i. e. achieve his goals (which don't require him being good by objective standards) through unconventional means that aren't guaranteed to work for long.
Also part what makes Osamu work is his significant involvement in behind-the-scenes shit which pretty much doesn't happen in sports manga

Kind of. The ranks wars pulls multiple duties:

1. Tournament arc to keep action going with stakes low enough that they can lose some.
2. Training arc for Osamu and Chika to get some experience and develop their skill sets.
3. Introduce all the upper B-rank teams so that they're available for use.

So some B-rank aces will likely go on the away mission. In the meantime Galopoula is planning their next raid, and all those teams will be available if Ashihara wants to use them. Furthermore if the story calls for interludes on earth between neighbor world, there will be a bunch of known characters for it to work with.

What if people who are unsure about the rumors start asking him questions about Canada he won't be able to answer? Like who is the Prime Minister, the political situation of Quebec, what is Canada's most popular TV show, when is Candada Day, or "could you say a sentence in English"?

I think the cool part about World Trigger is that characters can reasonably lose completely without writing them out of the story, because losing your Trion Bodies doesn't equal death, and then the Rank Wars are safe. Coupled with the fact that the opponents are treated just as equally by the story as the main characters, it makes it so there's always a genuine mystery as to whether the protags will win a fight or not, and I'm not actually expecting any sort of plot armor at all.

Bapti's advice was great and basically saved the series from being axed prematurely like I thought it would be.
Too bad the current day Shokugeki no Soma couldn't have one of those.

Truth. I only hope Ashihara learned a great deal about writing from that, since he has a different editor now.

He can "pretend" he's a dumb idiot whose only interest is fighting so cultural and political stuff escapes him.

He can answer a lot of those with "It's been a few years since I've been to Canada so I don't know".

I doubt that Japanese teenagers would know enough about Canada to ask the kind of questions that would be hard to dodge without looking suspicious. As for the adults, most are already aware of the truth and/or have a vested interest in not making Border look bad.

Looks cute. I'm always worried about romance in shonen though, since none of them have ever been able to do it right. It's why I'm content with World Trigger not even touching the subject. Everyone being kind of sterile is weird, but it's better than the alternative.

The romance is pretty innocent but straight forward, and there's also no unnecessary drama if thats what you are worried about the manga mostly focuses on world building

The trion body thing is such a great idea. I wish more series would use something like that. I keep seeing people talk about how good fights need lasting consequences, but World Trigger (and sports manga in general) is a great example of how reducing consequences can actually increase tension.

Wouldn't it be even more suspect that mr. rumor man said that so adamantly to his buds and when one of them brings it up he casually brushes it off as nothing despite how passionate about it he was? oh, this could be a mess

Osamu is far more self-preserving. He can be reckless but not to Chika's extent. He'd prefer to live if it means he can help people.

Chika on the other hand actively saw herself as a burden and was more than willing to do something dangerous, help someone and die if it means no one ended up like her bro and friend.

Why has the Trigger Link/Trion Link thing not been mentioned or brought up ever since it was used in the invasion? Chika just being able to share her Trion with Osamu seems pretty powerful but no one ever demonstrates a similar ability/tactic and it's never actually explained, it just happens. It stands out in a series where most shit gets an explanation.

I've never agreed with those who think that implementing a Bail Out system reduced the tension in this series. It's perfectly possible to write a suspenseful story without the fear of life and death hanging over you constantly, and it makes the moments where peoples' lives are actually on the line more impactful.

He's hyper focused on living up to his own expectations, and that includes helping the people around him no matter what.

He’s selfless in that he wants to do the right thing, but selfish in the sense that he wants the strength to play an active role in that goal despite being unqualified for it. Being powerless to stop Chika’s brother from leaving them for the Neighborhood really left a mark on him.

Eh, the first neighborhood invasion was the pinnacle of hype. Weird sports with real life stakes is beast.

World Trigger's style isn't the most unique thing around but Ashihara is actually pretty decent at avoiding sameface with the designs. Their eyes, eyebrows and noses tend to be pretty different amongst the cast.

Personally it bothers me how many people walk around with a "dude I'm so high" expression. Guys like Kikuchi and Ema have the personality to match the expression but Murakami and Tokieda's personality don't match their bored/not giving a fuck faces.

Well Tokieda's shown that he's just a generally levelheaded and calm sort of guy, never losing his cool. I think it works.

Murakami on the other hand definitely seems somewhat contradictory to parts of his personality at times, but I think that's the point, and I personally like it. He's got spiked up hair and really piercing, bold eyes. He takes his job fairly seriously, and people find him intimidating and abandon him because of how his Side Effect trivializes the learning process. So he looks a little unhappy, but at the same time he's a surprisingly nice and fundamentally decent guy with an emotional side, and it sticks out all the more when you see him smile or laugh or cry. I think it's very cool that he has this sort of "samurai" impression with his appearance and mannerisms but isn't exactly cold, even if his exterior has been built up as such. He just looks kind of icy.

Osamu and Kuga encounter and fight a Rabit pretty early on. Arashima squad arrives and help finishing it off. After that they split up, Ozamu going with Kitora to help the C-rankers. On the way Ozamu's mini-replica explains that he (most likely the main body) analyzed the Rabit and found it took a ton of trion to create. He questions why the enemy is wasting so much on an invasion that's getting them very little. That's the scene they're flashing back to when he creates his own Rabit.
