What's happening to EBJ? Are they going to move to a new website because Yahoo bought them? or is it just cross-platform with bonus if you use the new Yahoo one? I'm worried if the ripper script isn't going to work anymore since this website is where I get all my manga.

RIP EBJ I guess?
another reminder to always rip the ebooks that you bought. you can never know what will happen to the website.
I need a new ebook website that's easy to use and rip. please help.

Welp, at least they don't offer Kodansha stuff in 2k anymore. I should rip everything I bought soon.

What website do you use?
It's disappointing that ebj soldout to yahoo. I already ripped everything but I'll miss all those books on my shelves.

Rakuten. Need to try out kindle one of these days.

is it easy to rip?
I have no idea how to rip rakuten or amazon kindle stuff at all since EBJ is just comfortable to use, although not for long.

What a crazy suicidal move by EBJ. literally everyone on twitter is shitting on them and want to move out too because of these reasons.

>is it easy to rip?
Yeah.

How? just post a pastebin and delete it after a few minutes.

They got bought out by Yahoo and are merging with their reader. Kodansha also downgraded their mags to 1600px. Dark times ahead. If you have any ebooks that you bought but haven't ripped yet, I would rip them soon in case they get downgraded.

So what would be the best place to rip stuff now, in terms of quality?

I'm waiting for answer too. I've download Calibre and de drm plugin, but I know nothing about kindle/kobo stuff.

The kindle rips I've done are pretty good quality but I don't know if all releases are the same.

do I really need VPN to japanese server if I want to buy Kindle from amazon.jp?

Who gave you that idea? The only thing you need to get japanese kindle is a fake japanese address to set your region to japan.

this is the kindle store (amazon.jp) without VPN

this is with japanese server vpn.
i'm still testing with free books and try to de drm stuff (still no luck, it's so confusing).

Works on my end. What are you looking at? As I said, you need to change your account's region to Japan.

okay.
am I even doing the right thing here? but I can't save my kindle book to my PC

You need to download kindle for pc. Then you can download them. There's plenty of guides to download books from amazon, so I'm not going to spoonfeed you any further.

There's nothing hard about ripping the new site. There were barely any changes to the reader.

Yes. I already have all that I need.
I tried experimenting with this one
amazon.co.jp/ブルーピリオド(1)-アフタヌーンコミックス-山口つばさ-ebook/dp/B07873642C
(and one more Alita book), converted them to .zip and .epub and then 'save to disk". The image files that I got are extremely low size (1024px and below 300kb). Am I doing something wrong here or these free books are just that low quality?

everything is hard for non computer programming geek like me. I don't even know how to edit tampermonkey script and stuff.

YIKES. I’m somewhat of a beginner programmer, and I’ll try to look into it.

Seems like it's not a mistake. I tried downloading other books with higher size and I got regular size images (500kb+ 1900pixel jpgshit)
But is there any way to see the exact dimension of the images before purchasing the book?

Most manga should have reading samples.

Great. shame that the quality might not be the best. I just compared my ebj rip and amazon rip and the amazon one has very slightly lower quality. This kind of thing should be standarized for all ebooks. Maybe I should try Rakuten next.

Rakuten's easy, you can download the epub straight from their server with a Python script that logs you in.

Is there any public ebookjapan ripper?

We couldn't have nice things if we did that.

Nice try Yahoo

Then I guess I will keep the one I made to myself. Hopefully their "DRM" stays terrible.

In Calibre, without converting or anything select the title and press U. That'll unpack the contents into a temporary file.
