Just finished this. 1000 times better than Part 3. How is part 5 compared to this?

I’m an anime only but so far I have been loving part 5. Previously, part 4 was my favorite part but part 5 may top it if the ending is really good.

Part 4 is unironically the best JoJo part of all time.

Part 5 is basically Part 3 -like plot with a much worse main character but Part 4 -tier side characters. The villain in Part 5 is also a massive letdown compared to Kira, but not the worst villain in the series (that one is in Part 6).

Part is an ultimate clusterfuck of ideas and thoughts that don't really get a chance to be fully explained or fleshed out, that is ultimately saved by a handful of characters, one of which includes the retarded incompetent ass psychotic villain who looks like a derpy moron. You can tell that Araraki was in a bad place when writing it, but overall it's a really good part, I feel as though a lot more of it is memorable than DIU, if only because of meme retardation.

Part 5 is my least favorite part but I recommend watching it if you haven't read it.

Part 5 has been well summarized by the other anons, it's adecent part with milk toast protag that is not nearly explored or interesting enough. If you loved part 4 you might not enjoy part 5 as much and if you liked part 3 to any capacity then you find part 5 pretty nice. Just wait till the shit show that is part 6. Waiting for part 7 since that will be legendary.

I personally prefer Part 4 for it's concept, but in terms of writing and creativity, Part 5 is even better. It's definitely my 2nd favorite behind 4.
It'll feel a bit weird at first since it has almost no downtime between battles (which is completely opposite of Part 4), but you'll get used to it.

Part 5 has too much bullshit in it. Like, all of Jojo is bullshit, but Part 5 is when it really starts going off the rails. Like every other fight has a moment that makes you go "Wait, what? How the fuck does that work?" Really pulls you out of the story.

Stands go from loosely following rules to eh who cares, fights go on for way too long, Jolyne is completely unlikeable and bloodthirsty, killing people not even involved just because, too many mcguffins, pacing goes from molasses to speed of sound fast enough to give you whiplash, almost no interesting side villians, etc.

Part 5 has issues not as abundant as in the previous parts. Most fights go like this: Giorno gets into sticky situation. Luckily, his stand has a new ability we didnt know about, but will suddenly help him now then be forgotten about.

The only thing missing is good characters

The anime adaption of Part 4 was incredibly well done. Everything from how they handled scene transitions to the music was near-flawless. Made the emotional impact of Shigechi's death and Okuyasu's revival much heavier, gave me a good lump in my throat both times like the manchild I am.

Bloody Stream and Sono Chi No Sadame are unironically the best OP a "shounen" anime will never have.

It's not really about scale, it's that Jojo Part 3's characters are all kind of weak until the plot calls for it. Iggy sucks, Avdol may as well not exist, Kakyoin was relevant for about two episodes. Polnareff was the only character that truly felt like he stood out for most of the series besides Jotaro and Joseph.

I don't even hate Part 5 but Fighting Gold is honestly my least favorite Jojo OP. It's the only one yet that I've skipped every week; I don't recall skipping any of the others while they were airing.

I'm talking even in terms of JoJo. Part 4's TV airing has more QUALITY than both the TV versions of Part 3 and 5.

I'm liking it, but I'd definitely say Part 5 is the series where Araki lost all inhibitions and just went maximum campy which might put people off. Obviously Jojo has always had campy moments right from the get-go with the poses and flamboyant outfits, but it goes to an absolute extreme in Golden Wind and never stops afterwards in future series

Part 3 is horrible. The stand abilities are boring. Character spotlight is distributed horribly. And for all the supposed motif of people going on a life-changing journey that will bond them forever, they barely ever interact with each other aside from character-irrelevant joking.

There are two Jotaro and Polnareff arcs in the second half and they completely fail to show us what their relationship is. And after a tidy finisher of Polnareff's character arc, Araki decides that Polnareff is going to get MORE spotlight while Kakyoin gets to be the one taken out of the story. Both failing to give Kakyoin the focus he deserves and doing a disservice to how well Polnareff's arc was handled in the first half.

Personally I think Part 5 is hot garbage in comparison to every other part before it. Anybody who rates it above 3 and 4 is subhuman in my eyes. In all honesty I would say the only part below 5 is 6, which is a whole new level of trash that I won't get into here. Oh but I like all parts, actually.

The ending is unfortunately godawful. I usually prefer David playing it as close to the manga as possible but if they rewrote the entire final showdown with the villain I would honestly take anything over what Araki gave us. It’s a really fun ride getting to that point though. There’s still plenty to look forward to, and the anime has almost always been better than the manga thus far. That hasn’t happened since part 2.

Late part 5 to the second third of part 7 felt like Araki’s hack fraud phase where he sort of just spun his wheels. There’s the odd moments of lucid brilliance in there like part 6 post-Heavy Weather, but the magic was just gone for a long while.

I think that the idea is that the turtle is a clone of the original one, so it has the same stand. And the working without the key part was actually explained by Araki at some point, who said that the key isn't actually a part of the turtle's stand. Coco was just conditioned by Diavolo to only activate his stand when the key was placed within his shell.

boy i dont know why, but polnarref, avdol , iggy, joseph and kakyoin are so fucking memorable, even tho i never felt there was a "lets stop fighting minor villains and lets chat for a moment" on part 3, part 4 has alot of this "chatting moments" but i just can remember koichi,okuyasu and rohan being good side characters.

3 stands: basic shit
4 stands: getting a little more abstract and creative, more based on interesting circumstances
5 stands: somewhat straightforward, yet impressively versatile in their applications
6 stands: just the wierdest shit ever

So part 6 ends up being extremely hit-or-miss on a stand-to-stand basis, whereas most other parts are more centralised in their appeal; if you like extreme shounen battles you'll like all of part 5, if you like a semi-meandering exploration of Morioh as a setting via fights, you'll like part 4, if you like a very simple, shounen roadtrip story with escalating tensions, you'll like part 3.
But part 6 lacks that unifying feeling; nothing that all fights share to appeal to the audience with, so most people have quite a few disliked battles from that Part. Thus, it very commonly ranks low.

People think part 3 has great group dynamics but they really do barely interact with each other. They get tricked because the few actual interactions they have are actually pretty good.
My favourite is during Yellow Temperance, when Joseph and Avdol are realising that there's a fake Kakyoin, and Kakyoin enters the hotel room:

I just love Jonathan. He is my favorite Jojo. I love the themes and the FOTNS meets Dracula aesthetic that it is going for. Also Dio and Jonathan have the best hero/villain chemistry in the entire series. And well everything in it happens so fast, that I didn't have time to get bored with it. And as you said, the beginning was good and the ending was both shocking and sad. I just can't see myself hating any aspect of it (even though Im willing to admit that it has some issues here or there).

I pretty much agree, I don't criticize Part 3 for it, although it was a weakness. There are worse flaws in it.
My biggest problem is how boring the stands are, but that problem gets largely alleviated once they get to Egypt, because Araki got better at writing stands. Especially the Cairo/Dio arc are fucking fantastic, and part of why I think Part 3 is still so beloved by so many is because it ended on such a high point, whereas other parts don't really end on their best points. Like Part 4's ambulance, and although I loved it, most people absolutely hate Part 5's Gold Experience Requiem.

I agree with all those points. The start and the end are real good. But the stuff in the middle is just so fucking boring, that even if it is the shortest part, it took me the longest to fully watch. If I wasn't told it got better in Part 2 and onwards, I would have dropped the series by episode 5

I just didn't see it. I watched all 9 episodes in one sitting. The first 3 episodes were a classic. I also liked the fight between the knights and Jonathan (Luck and Pluck scene was good and Zeppeli's sacrifice was sad). The fight with Dio in the castle had memorable moments in it. And the fight on the ship was super memorable. Honestly I don't know how you can be bored by 5 episodes worth of action? I mean I was bored to tears during DIU, but I had to sit through 21 episodes of very low energy sol stand skirmishes, before the main villain even showed up.

Maybe, still a legitimate reason though.

The real kino is going to see the anime onlys response to the placement of rolling stone.

Part 4:9/10, favourite part by far, brought down by the initial monster of the week formula before Kira introduction (and some of the filler with Atomic Heart Father creating new stands user), great Jojo and the best supporting cast

Part 5:7/10Pretty good so far, the supporting cast is a bit underused except for Mista & BuccellatiI stopped reading the manga a quarter through it

Part 7: 8/10 Peak Araki art, crazy stands I still don't get some of the powers, cool setting, shouldn't have speedread it

SBR's stands were pretty boring for the most part I felt. But if you think they're crazy you're going to be in for one hell of a surprise when you read part 6.

It only works at the end. Anyone saying otherwise has no idea what they're talking about in regards to how narratives work.

SBR is a weird part for me. The stands and fights are generally pretty boring. The characters are good...but most of them get the most unsatisfying blueballing conclusions ever. Plus Valentine is an underwhelming villain who doesn't get much characterization until Lucy infiltrates the White House and he ends up dying in an underwhelming way like most major characters.

Fighting Gold bores me so that means it's not good. Great Days makes me feel so it's a good OP.

Part 4 feels weird for me. It wasn't until characters like Yukako, Rohan, and Kira that it finally felt engaging. Even the alien guy was great, but I couldn't help but feel like Araki took too long introducing some of them so it felt like he created some of the best cast characters in the series only for them to appear too little too late. The Joseph/Josuke bonding were absolutely great though, and I wouldn't have minded more of that.

Still a great part, though I'll admit that Kira kind of carried most of it by the end.

What about Hayato?

Oh yeah Hayato is great, I just happened to lump him with Kira's stuff though it doesn't lessen how good he was.

I think part 4 introduced way too many characters and left a lot to be desired. If the ensemble cast was Josuke/Okuyasu/Jotaro/Koichi/Rohan/Yukako and Araki rotated between them it would have been better.

Just dropping in to say that part 7 is my favourite part Manga-wise, but nothing tops part 2's anime adaptation. The sound design, OST's, visuals and everything about Stroheim were just too good to be topped. Not to mention that Bloody Stream is fucking amazing
