OPM stopped being a parody early on. And even then it was alays a light parody of superhero fiction as the only real "joke" was Saitama's non-plus attitude and overwhelming strength. By DSK it was an earnest superhero story.

The "literal whos" fighting take up very few pages too. You are just arguing from your (bad) memory instead of providing actual shit that could be cut significantly to make room. At best they could shave like 50 pages of the arc, and I doubt they can reach even that number.
It's part of the torture obviously and no one is talking about wholly removing events, but condensing them, making them flow faster to fit everything from the tournament/invasion into 3 episodes at most.

Besides the culmination of the arc is in the tournament, with Gouketsu's arrival. They aren't separate arcs really, and the whole point is having them both intertwined.

Not really, it all depends on how they handle it. Though honestly S1 killed a lot of the funny parts.
It's the same timeline and the same arc. Invasion with literal who monsters dying happened simultaneously, during the tournament and AT the tournament itself, so we're talking about condensing those events obviously. They're intertwined.
They don't have more space and after that at the very least 2 episodes must be reserved for the finale fights with Garou and co. And honestly, condensing the tournament/initial invasion hurts nobody.
Sprinkling short fights alongside the invasion works best. People should really reread the arc, from how people talk about it it's like they just kept their initial impression from the awful release schedule when it was released.

While that is true, the final segment isn't that short, and it's not what people refer to when they talk about the tournament. From when it starts up until Suiryu vs Saitama there's about 100 pages. That's about the same amount as that fight and everything up to Gouketsu's arrival. And then Gouketsu's part of the arc is double of that. So there's a total of ~2 volumes dedicated to the tournament, and that's not even considering the preparations with Saitama going to talk with Charanko, or buying the wig.
