Fujiwara's arc will end up being endgame, almost 150 chapters in and everyone but the hourai jewel branch character has been namedropped, that's pretty telling.

One thing to note though is the characters are, in-universe, well aware of the bamboo cutter tale.
Hell Shirogane outright sees and states the similarities between both Kaguyas, and his intent to ensure something like that does not happen. Both main characters have even taken the social aspects that caused trouble in the into account for comparison to their own situations too.
It ain't going to end like that unless the editor forces things to go maximum retard. It's the OTHER protagonist and heroine who might find themselves caught up in such a tale.
