I just watched Roger's base talk about this episode and the chapter and it actually makes me wonder if One Piece is literally the only comic book he's ever read before. Like, how does he constantly not understand what's going on in One Piece if his whole career is based off talking about One Piece?

The whole time they were baking the cake they were gloating about how it would be so delicious that it would knock Big Mom out. It didn't do that.

Sanji feeding her and sticking to his creed isn't a bad thing, but for all of that build-up the fact that it barely did anything is a massive let-down.

I also wish that we saw him implement some sort of Okama cooking technique to play into her getting knocked out, to showcase the importance of what he learned during the timeskip. At the moment we really haven't seen the fruits of his labor from his training, other than cooking an Okama recipe a single time and then learning Sky Walk. Compared to Luffy and Zoro it feels like we don't know the full extent of what he learned at all.

It saved WCI, the SHs in general just underestimated BM

Sanji poisoning the cake would have been a complete reversal of his entire chicalrous character

It did stop her from destroying Tottoland and actively stopped her rampaging long enough for the Strawhats to leave.

Your opinion on it being bad writing is subjective because I think the easy route would have been to just knock her out, creating this scene added more tension and made it a truly 9/10 kino ending for me.

I would've liked it if the cake knocked her out. I guess there would still be power level shitheads who would be pissed off about it because Yonko have to be perfect in every way for some reason, but I'm more concerned about buildup and payoff, and it would've vindicated Sanji.

I also disagree with the idea that it would undermine the Big Mom Pirates if she was knocked unconscious. The entirety of Bad End Musical was showing just how effective as a crew they really were. They didn't need Big Mom to get back up and join the fight to communicate that. You could still have the end of the arc where the BMP ultimately subdue everyone, since they were already doing that in the first place and I think it would still make sense. I think people care way too much about Yonko never having any kinks in their armor, and I don't understand why that you'd limit yourself to that mindset of every single Yonko being like Whitebeard when to me that would just be boring. Not that I dislike Whitebeard, but I don't want five of him.

Honestly this chapter/episode was really refreshing after weeks of running and made BMPs look strong, plus I assume Oda needed a plot device to get rid of Jinbe. Also the cake did stop BM from directly attacking the SHs it was more BM's crew shown themselves to be somewhat competent (after nearly and entire arc of incompetence) and trap the Sunny

I don't know if Oda changed if mind halfway through, but it was obvious she wouldn't stay down the moment Chiffon and co. started talking about taking the cake as far as possible before letting BM eat it.

No one says they can't have a final battle against the WG and free the world of their control. But at the end of the day the Marines and Imu aren't the ones standing in the way of him becoming PK it's BB. Luffy facing BB in a final battle makes way more sense than the WG. If anyone of you can provide a panel that shows Luffy saying he wants to bring world peace by beating the WG, I'll subtract my argument. And yeah out of all the Pirates, BB has been built as the one to be Luffy's challenger to the One Piece. If the end of MF wasn't enough evidence with him taking WB's power and literally becoming a Yonko in less than 2 years it's him being responsible for Ace's death. No other Pirate has been set up to oppose Luffy more than, BB especially since he's just as serious about getting the One Piece as he is.

This is Oda. We have no idea what could pull them into the war. Luffy didn't get pulled into the first one till he heard the news, so again we have no idea.

Again I'm not saying the WG and Imu aren't gonna have their battle, but once they're defeated it won't make Luffy Pirate King. It'll make him a hero but finding One Piece is what will actually bring his dream to fulfillment. Luffy never set out to be a savior, it was always his goal to get OP.
