Was there a better arc in Gintama than the 4 devas arc?

Silver Soul Arc, 'nuff said.

I haven't seen that yet. I've only just seen the episode where Gintoki fights Kagura's older brother.

If it's better than the 4 devas arc, then I'm looking forward to it.

That back to back fighting shit was peak anime. Didn't it see it coming from Gintama at all

It peaked at Shogun Assasination.

Still Yoshiwara in Flames is my favorite.

God Tier taste bro

>It peaked at Shogun Assasination.
I mean, that was good, but the scene where Gintoki fights Jirocho at Otose's husband's grave, and then where all of their previous friends come back to defend them in Kabukichou, AND then Jirocho and Gintoki take out that Princess Kada and her minions was all pure kino.

Also, the fact three of the devas had their own army, and that Otose just had Shiroyasha was a really good dynamic. Four mob bosses protecting their degenerate district.

I couldn't get past the first three episodes. Should I try again?

just watch a compilation of it I recommend best of kagura, or just skipp randomly like 20 in its a manga so the first few can be rough I don't really remember the beginning

we need another comedy arc

Absolutely.

It somehow manages to be funny in some parts, yet serious in others.

I didn't think it could get any better after they were saved by their friends from past episodes, when they were surrounded outside Yorozuya HQ, but then that happens, and exceeds expectations.

Agreed. While I do like Gintama, sometimes it can feel like it's draggon on during some of the more serious arcs.

Yoshiwara in Flames,
Red Spider and Courtesan of a Nation are better. I still like the 4 Devas arc a lot.

Yoshiwara In Flames was without a doubt the peak as far as serious arcs go. The fight with Hosen was everything you could want in a Gintama fight and a shonen fight in general. Hosen was a huge hurdle to overcome and you could tell it would take everything Gintoki had to match him, yet he wasn't so overpowered that the only way they'd win was through a last minute asspull, it had tension and a perfect payoff to it.

and there's mostly only been one or two episode gags I want something long and stupid like getsuyoubi Elizabeth

gintama is supposed to be a parody of jump manga to many serious arcs for a parody

No.

I wonder how mean of a blowjob he gives for Shueisha to grant him this many second chances. This isn't something they would do for any author. I wonder if it's just all a big joke that they're in on. If you don't know what I mean, Gintama is still going even after giga and it's officially longer than Naruto and Bleach now.

Definitely, it was a time when Gintoki didn't feel like he was getting his dick sucked, Yoshiwara in flames was great but Hosen should've killed Gintoki in a single hit.

Did it finish yet? I haven't read any of it since it left Jump.

My favourite is still Courtesan of a Nation, but I really like every fucking Gintama arc. I may be a shonenfag and I kinda like basically all things Jump, but Gintama has that special place in my heart and I still think Courtesan of a Nation is the arc that cimented it's place there.

The Gorilla found a way.
In no way Gintama is a parody, it's a comedy/action wich uses 4th wall comedy.

Not necessarily an arc, but top tier gintama nonetheless.

The best thing about Kabukichou arc was that they had a great story with only two new characters (and even Jirochou had been mentioned before). The way they used so many familiar characters (like the 3:7 guy) with their deeper relationships made it feel that much more important than introducing new place with new characters and new backstories (meaning even longer tearjerker flashback scenes you don't care about).
And on top of that, Pirako and Jirochou were great characters with great seiyuu and the production of the whole thing was on top level (and finally HD after the four years of original 4:3 run).

Courtesan of a nation is by far the best serious Gintama arc, but the final fight in 4 Devas is the best animated fight in the entirety of the TV show (since it had a movie budget allocated to it).

New Gintama anime project allegedly confirmed at today's fan event.

I hope it's a movie/OVA followed by a web OVA just to mimic the manga's non-endings.

Cool, at what chapter did the last episode left?

The staff genuinely loves Gintama.
Even though the popularity has fallen gintama gets new seasons.
Wish it was the same for Bleach

Chapter 686

Then I guess it has about 5-6 episodes worth to adapt, maybe they will do it like FMAB and end the anime the same moment as the manga.

>6 episodes
>implying
At this rate Gintama will continue even after the Silver Soul arc finally ends

The anime may come back for Summer but it would become a production disaster like the past 3 seasons. The director denied any anime production for 2019 and now this happens.
I can't predict anything now.

Courtesan of a Nation and Yoshiwara in flames are better in my opinion.

This, especially Yoshiwara arc.

Most likely because Gintama can be considered as 国民的深夜アニメ at this point, and also due to the popularity boosts after the release of the live action films.

OH NO NO NO

I think it spoils the next chapter

Post your top 3 arcs

1. Farewell Shinsengumi
2. Shogun Assassination
3. 4 Devas

ANNhas a translation of the text:GintamaProduction Committee: Production onGintamaanime's brand-new project green-lit … probably. Since the manga isn't over yet…. But we think we're gonna do it, we guess. Well, just get ready."

HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU WANT TO REPEAT THE SAME ENDING

National Late Night anime is not something I've heard of in Japanese anime talk. It's certainly one of the more prominent ones though; also sorta helps that it aired in primetime for 7 years

Apparently he's still drinking buddies with many of his former editors. Or maybe it's something else

I have watched over 500 anime in my life and managed to boycott Gintama this entire time after watching like three episodes which were really boring and unfunny. Should I give it another try?

you literally watched the worst episodes.

So yeah
