first few episodes were good. Characters are good but the story is shit

It was popular in the beginning when it seemed like your average mecha power-fantasy with a literally-me type protagonist and an assertive, female love interest but they soon lost a large part of their audience when they didn't deliver but derailed the show into NTR drama and going nowhere plot-wise up to the point where they completely tanked it with the aliens shit. At the very end they even lost their die-hard audience by killing the main characters. Japan had immediately forgotten about the show and it didn't even show up on any notable top 10 lists at the end of the year. It didn't get any awards either.

Yeah, Franxx was a great pleb filter. A lot of Redditors and Yea Forumsirgins hated it, so they shitposted in all of the threads.

It was THE reddit anime of the season. It was solely responsible for bringing half of reddit to Yea Forums. At the very end when everyone - including Yea Forums - had already realised what a piece of shit this was, reddit was still liking it. I know because people literally linked to reddit in the fucking threads.

VEG was utter shit. Darling in the Franxx was much better (despite the ending).

Is it wrong to have enjoyed while it was airing because the thread were fun? As a whole in retorspect it was mediocre garbage.

Darling in the Franxx was easily the worst anime of 2018. If you unironically like it you don't belong on Yea Forums but you belong in /reddit/ like the garbage subhuman you are.

It was way more of a roller coaster ride than that. It started off slow, gained popularity around episode 4-6, then slowed down again during the episodes that focused on the side cast. Then the show became ridiculously popular when episode 13 aired, enraged people with episode 14 and made people cream their pants with episode 15. After that, it was a steady decline, until they jumped the shark with the VIRM reveal in episode 20. 21 and 22 were pretty good and gave people hope for a good ending, but then Nishigori decided to completely destroy everything good about the show in the final two episodes, and essentially alienated the entire fanbase.

It was just such a bizarre, surreal experience and I didnt even watch it while it was airing. The way it doss the Eva and E7 thing while exploring interestng thematic ideas in the first half then just shit the bed by trying to literal copy the second half of Burden lagan in its own second half just left me completely dumbfounded, slack jawed mouth agape what the actual fuck am i watching right now flabbergasted.

Honestly I've never seen anything like it. Its interesting but I'd say what it did best is the same thing it did worst - copying Gurren and E7.

If you're trying to tell people without hyperbole that Franxx was the worst show of last year you simply have not watched much anime. For every mediocre show that gets a following online, 4+ shows that season are buried in the dirt because they're straight up unwatchable.

Most mediocre shows are inoffensive. They do exactly what people expect of them to. Darling in the Franxx was a complete disaster, that's why it was bad. Technical quality couldn't save this trainwreck and that is why it was rightfully voted worst anime of 2018 by Yea Forums.

Franxx wasn't offensive until the final 4 episodes, it was mediocre or slightly below mediocre for the front 20. There were at least two shows last year that were offensive all the way through, those being Dances with Dragons and that Alchemist Knight anime. Those don't get voted worst anime because no one with a functioning brain watched them.

Franxx dropped the ball when it came to the plot after episode 5 already and it only got worse. Singular highlights couldn't save the show. If you unironically think otherwise you simply have shit taste and should go back to your friends on >>>/reddit/.
