Neji is stronger than you think. His basics were as strong as Naruto who received Kurama's chakra. He could keep up in speed and with technique in strength as well.

He'd beat lee by closing his chakra points or w/e bit by bit. If Lee opened 6th gate or w/e he was capable of it would take too heavy of a toll on his body which means Neji just has to do his broken spin to win move to block his attacks and wait for Lee to collapse to the ground like the failed reject he is

The best way to go about doing things would probably have Lee go against kisame and beat him with hirodora, and Guy go against Madara. That way they get to show off the growth of Lee, and his potential as well as give Guy his moment to show the true ceiling of Taijutsu.

I think the bad powerscaling part was at the beginning of Shippuden when Sasuke and everyone from Akatsiku were extremely OP while old characters like Orochimaru and Kakashi were weak af, but after a few arcs of shippuden they scaled back to the old power ceiling. Until the war arc of course, thats when everything spiked.

Yeah the Akatsuki did have some very OP techniques, like Deidara's nanobombs (what was Kishi thinking?) or Itachi's Yata Mirror and Amateratsu, but it's a different type of OP, it still kinda felt part of the same old Naruto world

Neji-fag here. Lee could beat Neji in an all out fight no question. This starts somewhere between 3rd and 5th gate, no dispute from me. In a during fight where they're not trying to wreck their own bodies, I'd give it 65/35 neji/lee. Don't think Lee could beat neji off screen or on screen pretty chunin exams or most of chunin exams, but that's completely changed by Sasuke retrieval imo.

Meant to talk about sparring, but I'm a filthy phoneposter. The 65/35 is for when they're sparring cause neji's power doesn't have as much of an exponential curve as Lee's.

Lee always had Gates. Neji knew about them all along. Hell Primary Lotus unlocked some and Neji knew about that. It was the 4th/5th gate that Neji was unaware of and was designed specifically to beat him

Lee got destroyed by Kimimaro, doing no significant damage whatsoever. Lee at this point was even weaker than chuunin exam because he just recovered. Drunk mode is something he can't access by himself and wouldn't stop Neji's rotation or near 360 degree vision. It'd just make Lee hard as hell to hit.

All the side characters in this series are wasted, it always suddenly shot up in quality whenever it stopped being about Naruto or Sasuke but those parts were for obvious reasons few and far between
