Why is Innocent grey so underrated compared to Type Moon, even though Miki has made far superior work compared to Nasu for the last 15 years?
Miki's stories don't need mage hackery and are always shown in a realistic post world war 2 seetting with realistic characters, great story and heart wrenching bittersweet endings. How long until they reach TM status with some decent anime adaptations?
At least Fate had, to my knowledge, an original concept. On the other hand, one could argue that KnS is trash for something that's actually copying so much from actual good works.
Jack Mitchell
Mahoyo was trash too. The only thing good to come out of Type-Moon franchises were Prillya, Carnival Phantasm, and the Knk adaptation.
Eli Brown
>KnS is trash user, at least try.
Wyatt Campbell
It has good visuals and music. But the story is trash within it's genre.
If it's the only thing you have read, then sure, you might think it's good. It took bunch of inspiration and plot tools from great novels like Tokyo Zodiac and Mouryou no Hako but never used them correctly. Cartragra and KnS introduced twins, which is like the most powerful device you can use in mysteries (so much that authors within the genre use them ironically to make fun of the concept), but never actually used them correctly. Adding bunch of gore for entertainment value doesn't make a mystery good.
I'm just answering OP's question as to why KnS isn't as popular as other games.
they are not even twins or I am remembering wrong?
Justin Barnes
The concept of twins in mysteries don't actually describe the existence of twins, it basically describes the legality of body switching. If the author says that 2 person look identical, whether or not they are actual twins, it means he is allowed to use the concept of body switching in his mystery. This can be seen in Cartagra (Main character and her sister) and KnS (Satsuki and the other Satsuki). It's usually used to setup a big plot twist at the end.
Literally the only people who think Mahoyo are good are the EOPs that haven't read Mahoyo. It's not a surprise that Nasu doesn't want to write more VNs after the disaster it was.
How come not getting official English release will make it better for them? Nitro+ gets them as well and are doing fine. Also IG has gained a name for itself as well. Obviously its not on the level of TM but I think it has a lot to do with not getting actual anime adaption of their works that isn't a hentai.
>it wasn't the masterpiece they said it was Although not a masterpiece, the KNS series is actually quiet well written. Especially the second episode. I read these VNs for the characters and setting and as long as Miki delivers on that I am fine.
Thomas Ramirez
I'm posting what I have, but you probably already have it.
Who cares? As long as mangagamer makes enough money from it, it's fine. Besides we will probably have to wait 2+ years after the release of KNS 3 to get the official translation.
Brody Taylor
Think of all the Japanese reader chads spoiling everything.
Dylan Gonzalez
Get fucked, she doesn't come close to Shiki or the Aozaki sisters.
Ryan Turner
lol
Mason Cruz
If Kyouko continues to e a heroine in KnS3 (which I think she will) there will be more official art. I mean, she has the hightest chance to end up with Reiji
I don't even buy VNs on Steam. I just want Innocent Grey to get more money so they are more enthusiastic about being their other titles to the west. Caucasus looks really interesting. I don't know why no one is interested in translating it.
I hope so. Also Kyouko is pretty much confirmed to be the winner of Reijibowl. What did you think of their relationship in KNS 2? I enjoyed every scene they shared together. Her relationship with Reiji just feels so natural and realistic. You can just feel the connection. I still think Touko's the best but Kyouko is a very close second for me.
Kyouko is waifu material. She cares deeply for Reiji, but doesn't want to burden him with her problems. She is also admired so much by one of her cute customers to the point of being stabbed
I hope he has significant role in the last installment. Since Stella is playing an important role, he will be important as well due to his connection with Stella
>You play a detective and she is your client who asks you to find her true self. Sounds like trash, which is exactly I was expecting the moment this thread came up. You think your shitty VN can measure up to a billion dollar franchise?
Where is this from? The untranslated extended version?
Jeremiah Stewart
Nagomibako
It includes an after story for Cartagra.
Charles White
Now, I just have to ask. Am I a brainlet, or does Cartagra's story make no sense? It starts to get nonsensical when the cult and the maybe supernatural / maybe not powers get involved. And the girl replacing her identical twin.
What's with that strange arc where you meet the blonde girl who's really into you? Is that entire arc simply to punish you if you fall for her charms?
Nathaniel Harris
>Nagomibako Have you played it? Did Yura die on stage, in Shuugo's arms?
Luke Edwards
Yes. Yes. There's also a second end where Shuugo runs away with her.
Nathaniel Mitchell
Honest question, do you actually do anything constructive at any point in these games? It feels like you can't avert anything. So far, in all their games, you can't prevent any of the deaths. If you try, you get horribly murdered too. (Kara no Shoujo has *a bit of branching* in that you can save Shogo's wife, admittedly.)
I just feel I'm missing something.
William Allen
In Cartagra you are pretty pathetic honestly.
Ayden Brown
Yeah, that struck me as weird. The protagonist is an ex-soldier, but he relies on a one-armed woman to do most of the fighting for him! More, his only actual action is to shoot a woman, once.
I kept feeling that there was a novel I had to read or something. The silver-haired girl and the brothel situation felt like I was walking into the second movie in a trilogy.
Jack Perez
I see. That's why Yura was never mentioned or referenced to in KnS. I remember seeing a poster of the play in Touji's office. Have you played the PS2 version of Cartagra by any chance?
Gavin Young
>Have you played the PS2 version of Cartagra by any chance?
Nah. Seemed pointless.
Josiah Stewart
I'm still amazed by the fact they kept thinking she had psychic powers BECAUSE SHE HAD GREY EYES.
I'm sure this made sense to someone, but not to me.
Carson Russell
But I heard that the PS2 expands multiple ending, like an ending in which Yura actually kill Kizuna, a Touji ending, and the continuation of the original normal end where Shuugo finds Yura in his room after seeing off Kizuna
Cooper Nguyen
Might be interesting, but at the time I was fine with just the PC version and the Nagomibako story.
Brody Collins
To be fair, Shuugo was obviously designed to be your typical eroge self-insert. He is literally faceless. I'm glad they fleshed out Reiji to the point of giving him a voice (by Redman no less)
Christian Gomez
I'm still holding on playing KnS2. Is it better than the first one? i don't want to go through the feeling the ending of kns left me.
Zachary Wright
Based Suwabe nailed Reiji's character perfectly.
Charles Nelson
> it better than the first one? Yes.
>don't want to go through the feeling the ending of kns left me. KNS 2 tells you what the ending will be in the first scene and you still get gutpunched in the end. That's a hard feat to achieve in writing and Miki certainly delivered on that
Aaron Hughes
>Miki's stories He's not the writer. If you're going to talk about kns here you might as well talk about the anime, otherwise this is /vn/
Isaac Butler
>He's not the writer. Yeah, but he is the director and has enough influence to add what he wants.
Levi Cook
>it was But you're not actually reading it.
Kayden Brown
Just want to point out that that user is not me. I would never make such a bad post (shitpost). I think he only did thatvto make me look bad. Im And i will check out this vn for sure
Ayden Howard
You can prevent the deaths that only happen in bad ends, it's just that there are a lot of deaths in the true ends as well.
Jackson Morris
It's about the same in terms of how good it is. I would say that reading KnS2 helps you come to terms with what happened in the first installment, although you'll suffer a lot more in the process, but as for me personally, I felt a lot better overall after reading it.
Wyatt Diaz
user's description here is not really that interesting to be honest. Kara no Shoujo is a horror mystery thriller VN in which you play the role of a 30 years old private detective in his investigation of multiple related murders. Victims are all young girls and their bodies are mutilated in bizarre ways. The killings may have something to do with the reason the MC left the police force 5 year before. The main heroine attends the same school as some of the victims. She approaches the MC and asks him to look for her true self, whatever that it. The setting is Tokyo in post-war Japan (1950s)
Zachary Garcia
The game mixes typical VN gameplay with point-and-click adventure elements. You get to investigate scenes of murder to find clues and collection. There is also deduction sequences where you choose the correct reasoning to solve the case. Choose wrongly, and you might find yourself a victim. The game have a date system and in certain dates you get to choose from a map where you want to visit. There are usually 4-5 options, but you can only visit 2 places at a time. Your choice (and the order you make them) will have an impact on the story. I highly recommend checking out the VN. It has superb arts, music, and atmosphere. Certainly one of the most atmospheric VN I played. It's not really gory, but certain scenes will send chill down your spine.
Be warned that the game is quite implicit and completely uncensored. Another thing is that this game is infamous for its high number of bad endings and how difficult it is to avoid them. Here are some advice if you want to solve the game by yourself: - Save at every single investigation scene. It really easy to screw up, and you don't even know it until a few days later. Make sure to click on every pixel - multiple times. Even if you already find something from a place, there are maybe more hidden underneath. Some clues don't even show up until you go through all other clues, or investigate them in certain order. Most treacherously, the investigation scene may end prematurely if you collect certain clues, often the most obvious ones, so leave the obvious clues for last. -As I said above, you can usually choose 2 places to visit from 4-5 options in certain dates. The choices you make will affect the endings you'll get. Certain endings require you visit a specific place on a specific date. Here is what I did: I saved every time I was presented with a map, went though every single option, then chose the ones that I felt would advance the investigation the most.
Additionally, there are typical VN choices regarding dialogue and action that decide the ending. In my experience, you can reach the most complete normal end by yourself, but it's humanely impossible to reach all endings and unlock all CGs without a walkthrough. Try getting a normal end by yourself, and use a non-spoiling walkthrough for the rest.
Because TM is literal shounen chuuni shit despite what their fans would have you believe and that is always going to be more popular. Nasu can't even keep his own plot in order
Angel Russell
Annual reread starts tomorrow, I can't wait to have my heart ripped out of my chest again.
Isn't what happened after Shuugo was arrested a big nightmare/hallucination/acid trip? Avoid getting killed is already a big achievement in this kind of game.
Isaac Smith
I see you spam KnS and Touko threads in Yea Forums, but this is IG > TM is pretty retarded. You're retard desu. Should I remind you that KnS is literally plagiarism of Moryo no Hako?
Jackson Parker
The FLOWERS score is absolutely brilliant too.
Jonathan Diaz
I think it's as good as the first one. It's better in certain aspect (art, music, gameplay). The thing I miss the most is the constant sense of danger, which is absence in KnS2. The main heroine is also a disappointment.
Carter Reyes
Bad story. There is two stories going on. Main case and secondary "girl" story. Main case will be interesting but final will be retarded and unbelievable. Everything related with secondary "girl" story is bad. It's great example of forced drama and poor writing. You will be completely disappointed. But true final of VN absolutely worth it.
Andrew Wilson
>i don't want to go through the feeling the ending of kns left me. What do you expect? This is Innocent Grey we are talking about here. They have a boner for maiming cute girls and making depressive endings. Just read it. Like this user said , the emotional outburst at the end is worth it.
I'm just surprise it got a dub (fandub but still) consider that KnS sales are not that good in the west. They even sings the OP in English.
Christian Clark
>CARTAGRA The sickness of possessory and crazy Why the fuck nips are comically bad at English? Can these eroge companies hire someone with elementary English skills to translate the titles? Even Google translate would do a better job than this.
Let's be honest. Touko is a slut. What kind of teen girl would sleep with a middle-aged man she just met 2 weeks before, in a public park of all places?
>know someone well >that someone also knows you well >even invited said person to your home a week before >lust after that person and only that person >get called a slut by anonymous
Brandon Hughes
No, really. I was really upset with that particular ending, mainly because I did not see it coming. When the game gave what I knew was a crucial choice, I chose to rescue her alone first, because I expected it to lead to the bad end. My prediction was right. I was heartbroken but I told myself there was still the good end. I loaded and went with the other option, and they gave me THAT? I literally screamed at my laptop screen in disbelief. I then went over my notes to see what I could have done differently, what choices could be made to avoid the accident. And then I lost all hope, knowing it's the best they could do for her. Fuck you Innocent Grey.
Henry Johnson
What is the likelihood of a Japanese having the ultra rare bombay blood type? Was kinda mad at that contrivance.
Can't believe after all these years there are finally active KnS threads on here
user, KNS is hopelessly tragic. You aren't meant to save her. The story never allows you to do that to get to the true end.
Isaiah Rivera
I didn't know that. I went into the game completely blind. Tojiko's death was already hard enough, but at least the amount of death flags made me mentally prepared. I never expected they would do the main heroine dirty like that. I still held a little bit of hope for the true end, but it only gave me a fucking painting.. That's considered closure to you, Miki?
Cameron Mitchell
> KnS sales are not that good in the west Source?
Hunter Morris
/vn/ told me sales for both KnS are disappointing. Some even doubt that they would translate the third game.
Jeremiah Cox
>That's considered closure to you, Miki? Read KNS 2 to get closure for Touko. It tells you how things will end in its first scene and you still get gutpunched hard in the end. That's a hard feat to achieve in writing and Miki certainly delivered on that. But keep in mind that KNS 2 also ends on a massive cliffhanger.
Joshua Collins
>/vn/ told me
Noah Ross
>/vn/ user, the translator of KNS 2 said that while the initial sales weren't great they improved a lot and got a profit later on.
Blake Jackson
All you had to do was to keep distance from her. Why didn't you listen?
I am one of these people who thinks Touko is still alive. not because I am "obsesses" (lol) but because I don't trust skeletons to be proof of anything only a doctor can say that for sure after an autopsy
Colton Scott
I already did. Do you think I could wait for a single moment to jump into the second game? Yeah, that first scene almost killed me. The final sequence finished me for good. Obsession end is just pure cruel.
Adam Roberts
It's time to let go, son.
Kayden Ramirez
/vn/ also told me that Flowers being translated is the result of anti-white propaganda.
I see. So there's only 2 of us. Still better than being completely alone. There was a post here, now it's gone. I keep writing but I can't convey my feelings. I have turmoil inside my head every time I try to write about my feelings for Toko. Sorry for replying so late.
Kara no Shoujo had a bigger impact on me than any other story I ever read/watched. It is a huge milestone in my life and I am forever thankful towards Miki Sugina for creating such a magnum opus. For me this Visual Novel is a homage to empathy, love and life itself. It helped me to re-evaluate what is actually important and thus made me a better person. Touko Kuchiki is a very important person to me. She taught me passion, dedication as well as freedom in many ways and for that I am so thankful. Her voice. This pure, unique voice.... I love you ToukoI am sorry I couldn't save you
There was another KNS Thread the other day that claimed Touko to be the best waifu of all time and it made me think what this game and Touko herself means to me and this is what I came up with.
For me KnS was initially a proof that I'm not completely dead inside, I never felt feelings as powerful as the ones I had for Toko. Then with each reread I kept finding different parts of myself, when I first read it I resonated mostly with Reiji, then found myself resonating more and more with Toko, and with each next reread I found fragments of myself within each character, even within insanity of rokushiki.
I had ability to dream many dreams during the night and I decided to dream of Toko as much as I can. Dreams that I ended up with uncovered many parts of myself that I didn't know of and ultimately turned me into a psychonaut, just as she tried to find herself, I'm searching for myself.
Hopefully not soon, I don't know enough moon yet to read it.
Samuel Brooks
It will get an official translation as well. We will just have to wait for 2 more years.
Xavier Campbell
Good luck trying not to be spoiled the ending in that 2 years.
Parker Wright
I wasn't spoiled on KNS 2. I only looked at some of the game cg, didn't even read the spoiler review that was published in 2013.
Owen Parker
Good for you. I was spoiled the ending of KnS2 while discussing the first game. Some fuckers can't help themselves with spilling the beans everywhere they go.
Henry Anderson
I hope Masaki doesn't get much screentime in the last installment. Really didn't find his character interesting. A generic good guy with a boring personality.
Luke Morales
Bump
Alexander Brooks
Kara no Shoujo is complete garbage though. Like if Twin Peaks were written by an edgy housewife.
