DBGT recently, I've never seen all of it in its entirety. Still waiting on more Ace wo Nerae subs.

Attack no.1

I missed old episodes, when Ayuhara was cuter

the anime 1st half was actually really good, the second half not that much, but Im still watching it.

Attached: attack-no-1-episode-1-english-subbed.jpg (640x480, 30K)

What's the worst pre-2000 you can think of?
youtu.be/8O27jMawP-o

Attached: turtles.png (1356x694, 1.77M)

also this one

Attached: wandering sun.jpg (480x360, 16K)

I'm on like episode 60 something, I need to catch up again with the weekly subs. Is it ending soon?

I'm finally watching LOGH, I wish someone would've told me how similar it is to Rose of Versailles, because I would've watched it much sooner.

Attached: Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu - 017 [BDRip 960x720 x264 FLAC][00:08:17]001.png (960x720, 902K)

its in episode 90 and there are 104 episodes in total. They will probably end this year.

How far are you? Enjoy the ride by the way.

probably flint the time detective. that anime was complete trash

I meant this:

cute and funny

Attached: 1hESL146.jpg (1445x1462, 352K)

Dezaku-kun!

Picked up some old manga the other day.
1・2・3と4・5・ロク、by Chiba Tetsuya of Ashita no Joe fame.

Attached: 0001665026.jpg (1500x2118, 318K)

chiba tetsuya's art is so cute, I love it so much.

>1・2・3と4・5・ロク
where are you reading it (even if its in japanese)

The ロク on thw cover looks like an 07.
What's it about?

Only 20 episodes so far, didn't take me very long though.

>Dezaku-kun!

Attached: 1549967948242.gif (600x448, 2.71M)

Don't forget to watch the other entries.

I'm still watching Macross. It's really fucking good. I love how the aliens thought a kong-fu movie showed the protoculture have magic anti-giant powers, and confused the macross shield exploding with a superweapon

minmay = best girl

I wonder if this book form the ED is still around somewhere.

Watching Yawara!
Started off good but now it's gone off into this shitty love plot with chadmatsuri. Please tell me this doesn't go on for rest of the 100+ episodes.

See you in few hours, oh yes i know who you are

Attached: 1550688808382.png (363x509, 286K)

I wouldn't watch yawara! Expecting much if any development. It kind of just ends with the same beats that it starts with. The shitty love plot is the entirety of the plot

I've been meaning to continue watching Kimagure Orange Road, but I just can't find the time.

for me, it is yu yu hakusho

It's really not even worth the time.

how come?

currently

>See you in few hours, oh yes i know who you are
h-huh?

watch this after

looks fun, but I watched too much 70s anime lately and I feel a bit oversaturated with it.

its a 80s anime

my bad, its actually 80s.

is it being transalted or something!

32 episodes into Akazukin Chacha, it's genuinely great and really hitting all the right notes so far.
Second ED's catchy as all hell too.

youtube.com/watch?v=5n5PEsB6No0

i found only the 22 first episode on nya

I’ve been reinvested in Banner of The Stars since the 6th volume came out last September. There is a lot of editing that needs to be done for the current work, and still two volumes that need to be translated. Anyone interested in helping with the project?

I avoided Candy since forever because as a boy, I couldn't watch "girl stuff". It was from the time when anime was aired on Saturday mornings instead of Disney shit.

anyway, I'm currently giving Candy a chance and it's way better than I expected.

Attached: candy_2000s_1.jpg (572x415, 49K)

70s is objectively the best decade though.

Attached: [Centaurea-Raws] 家なき子 Nobody's Boy Remi 1977 EP04 (BDRip 1440X1080 X265 Main10p flac)[0 (1440x1080, 1.55M)

It's subbed?

I remember Rémi Sans Famille.
Overly dramatic, but so good!

Nah, I'm watching the classic French dub.
But with some lurking, I'm sure you'll be able to find a sub somewhere.

I read the manga. its really good. Almost as good and Rose of Versailles.

most of the best stuff I have actually watched is from this decade. also the worst.

Who was the fucking asshole that recommended DB kai to me when I said I want to get into dragon ball?

This show is absolutely glorious! I'm never going to listen to any sort of advice again if someone recommends me a remake or something.
The original duragon booru is absolutely glorious.

Attached: 753667543.jpg (640x480, 50K)

It's all downhill from there.

who's your favorite pre-2000s character designer, Yea Forums?

Attached: kitazume280.jpg (1280x1786, 772K)

Are there any anime from that period that have classic horror monsters and tropes ala universal movies? Started Tokimeki Tonight and I enjoy that element of it.

*It's all downhill after namek

There's still so many Dezaki OVAs left unsubbed. It makes me depressed.

Attached: 0.jpg (1280x1608, 854K)

-watched the Guyver movie, and it was terrible
-watched Sangokushi and it was pretty sleep inducing, somehow even worse than the Dainibu Choukou Moyu films which is a pretty impressive accomplishment
-watched Wanna-Be's which was also terrible; although terrible is probably not even the right word since it was worse
-watched a few other movies a la Ali-Baba and the 40 thiefs, which had potential but ultimately came off as pretty bland; looked really pretty though
-watched the remaining 5 uploaded episodes of Gusty Frog that I hadn't seen yet; still like it a lot but it really felt like the animation quality was starting to drop; either it was because of different episode directors, or because the budget required a few low cost episodes in between, many scenes at least appaer really off model; Kobayashi's art direction is still stellar, though. I honestly started to like it more than what he went for all the Dezaki and JC Staff anime. Really love the way all the flora is being depicted.

Attached: 1547143460190.png (1440x1080, 1.66M)

>avoided Candy since forever
you're lucky i was forced to watched it with my mom and sisters

the new movie seems good

we french people were really blessed in the 70/80/90s

You guys are still blessed, the official manga releases you get today, it's not fair.

Urushihara.

I'm from Quebec so yeah, we had it good in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
But then after 1985 Saturday mornings at Radio Canada turn into the fucking DISNEY CHANNEL.

I remember Cat's Eyes being banned off the air because it was too sexual and violent. At least the French got to see Hokuto no Ken and much more.

Attached: Cat's Eye - Rui Kisugi.jpg (600x900, 152K)

I watched the movie with the trippy Yuasa animation. Was disappointed. Shin Chan is better.

I enjoyed it as a kid.
youtube.com/watch?v=ynqD8Jvp-xI
And this short parody/abridged thing is one of my favorites these days.
youtube.com/watch?v=32A6OYPujHU

BB is a simple story and unfinished anyway. There is more important stuff. Like Aim for the Ace or Karate Master, which actually got an official English translation but noone bothered dumping it. What the fuck!?

Alexander Senki, for the character desings alone.

Attached: Chibi Maruko-chan - Watashi no Suki na Uta - wild ride.webm (848x456, 2.76M)

It goes. This show should be much shorter.

Liked Maison ikkoku it's literally Misunderstanding: The Anime but generally considered worse.

well, isn't that all romantic comedy?

There's two releases on AB,I'd go with Aria since it's the newer encode.

it's also here if you don't have AB
nyaa.si/view/947751

no. because pic related exists

Attached: index.jpg (364x504, 234K)

There are a few, like Kaibutsu-kun or Tezuka Osamu no Don Dracula.

Attached: 1167.jpg (910x912, 107K)

>the boomer cross game

>Don Dracula
great meme potential, btw

Attached: dondracula1.jpg (500x400, 40K)

>the superior cross game

Just finished Gundam 0083 Stardust Memories, thought it was pretty neat. Nearly dropped it at the beginning but it gets stronger as it goes.
Kinda hard to take the antagonist seriously though, since his name is straight up the word for "cat" in my native language.

I agree with you that Zeta's designs look awesome, too bad the show itself sucks.

memes aside, how is it better?

Attached: 220px-Kaiketsu_Zorro.jpg (220x316, 29K)

better cast, better storyline, much better MC & better drama.
it's probably my favorite coming-of-age story.

although aoba is a much more likable girl than minami, but minami grew on me with time.

cool, I might check it out

>Hokuto no Ken
i was 8 yo when it aired on tv and it was so good...until later you see that the dub was heavily censored and comical

i liked it only because of Madoka and the magic

the anime in general is not very good
>Toei 'quality'
I would recommend reading the manga instead

already did because i never watched HNK 2 and luckily my brother bought the manga

Wanna-Be's is notoriously bad. Why did you watch it?

I'm just finished watch Monster Farm season 1

This is probably only isekai anime that i enjoy from beginning to the end, Final episode was make me cry like a bitch,

Start watching season 2 soon

Attached: 06h37m08s0.png (376x288, 106K)

can we talk about the best Metal heroes?

Attached: Space_Sheriffs.jpg (435x282, 33K)

Oh man Chiba Tetsuya is so underrated. I love his art so much, Ashita no Joe is my favorite manga of all time.

I watched Dallos yesterday and it was pretty bad. What did you guys think of it?

yeah it's bad, Oshii is a hack

But he isn't

he is, fuck cuck in the shell

But GiTS is great. Angel's Egg and Patlabor are also great. Oshii is a great director honestly

I have been watching Ace no Warae (currently at the 13th episode, pretty good but somewhat cheesy) and Ashita no joe (dropped it at ep 54, then started with the second season).
AnW was made by a sadist. I don't have anything else to say, it's the most tantalising training I have ever seen.
AnJ was unexpectedly good. I found the fact that Joe is a prick refreshing in this anime scape we currently are in and the animation could be absolutely horrifying when the characters were getting punched (Joe's face after the prison inmates seem to destroy him will stay with me forever).
And then it just throws the greatest rivalry in Jap media at you like it's no biggie, damn. What a good series. Wish it had less errors though, they were too glaring, especially the delayed voices.

gross dude

>watching AnJ part 1
you got memed, you're supposed to read the manga

I didn't want to read the manga yet, I wanted to see the anime production since they also made Astro Boy.

Look at this cutie.

Attached: 2f49a818b3c290a0004cc27ea2c67051.jpg (1280x1823, 293K)

I know there are worse anime, but Ie Naki Ko was the least enjoyable viewing experience I've had with an older show.

One Piece is my favorite pre-2000s manga.

That cutie will kick you in the dick, user.

she is more likely to suck it

You wish

who watched the 1st magical girl

Attached: 5011d9467a530dc29144ab7e2565351e.png (960x2152, 1.18M)

>try to watch something from the 1970s
>audio quality is so bad it makes my ears bleed
how do you deal with this shit

Just turn the volume down

but then I can't here anything

maybe that's his fetish

Attached: 00_02_06-00010.jpg (640x480, 54K)

the OP was so catchy

Attached: 1280x720_le-monde-enchante-de-lalabel-9735_5a9ccf9b616db.jpg (1280x720, 226K)

I live in Japan and found it at a used book store the other day, along with おれは鉄平. Both have been on my to-read list for years; it's rare to find Chiba Tetsuya books that aren't Ashita no Joe, あした天気になあれ or のたり松太郎 (the latter two being series I have no interest in reading).

It's shoujo manga basically, flowery shit. I haven't really gotten into it, but it seems like it's mostly a family drama.

How's life in Japan?

is this worth it?

Attached: 59651l.jpg (329x450, 73K)

Subs?

what's the name?

It's Boku no Hero dude

Wanpaku Tanteidan.
I watched Odin: Starlight Mutiny a few days ago. The space visuals were great, it would really need a remaster. The story was unfortunately way too packed and the movie ended up too long (over two hours). It would have been so much better as a space adventure series. The ending song is fucking awesome. youtu.be/l5nEzw8l7dk

Attached: handsome squidward.jpg (700x480, 42K)

Is Dragon Quest (1989) worth watching? It looks comfy and has Toriyama's art style

watch VOTOMs already, user.

rather just read the manga if I have to mute the sounds

are you talking about Fly?

myanimelist.net/anime/2819/Dragon_Quest__Abel_Yuusha_Densetsu?q=dragon quest
No I was talking about this

ok never saw it but if your a DQ fan watch Fly (Dai) even if it didnt cover all the manga and wait for the new movie DQ 5

Attached: 2ez6ATgbmcwAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==.png (267x189, 7K)

Thanks but sadly I'm not a DQ fan. That 1989 DQ anime just gives me early Dragon Ball vibes

This thing. It's trashy as fuck. I guess it has mostly its obfuscation going for itself, the attempts at making something unsettling with the CG and filtered real life footage are not very successful, and the story isn't very fun.
At least, it's the first time I see a huge city getting vaporized in the first episode.

Attached: 48453184845154.jpg (720x540, 66K)

I've watched it but I'll probably watch it again after I'm done rewatching LOGH.

all DQ games, manga and anime are designed by Toriyama

I'm pretty sure Toriyama doesn't have any involvement with DQ manga and anime

Someone on YT has subbed them. Only up to 60 eps though.
youtube.com/playlist?list=PL85elTcMBJ9z76WWcGekyCRfh9Bj0EMf3

yeah you're right he's involved only on the games

Adding to this, Macross unironically makes me appreciate how culture is what makes my life worth living.

Attached: [Bunny_Hat]Macross_09_(4786B225).mkv_snapshot_23.21_[2019.02.19_20.34.39].jpg (1440x1080, 182K)

O god, please no.

Started watching Hajime no Ippo, what am I in for, lads?

discount anj

=( Man, now I have to watch that.

I would reccomend watching anj first if you like character drama. Ippo is worth watching but not even close to as good.

Is there a list of old anime that have a decent BD release? I want to watch those first.

This shit isn't even pre-2000s what the hell are you doing?

Just watch Rose of Versailles.

Attached: 0015.jpg (960x720, 95K)

Already did.

it started in 2000, just give us a break.

90% of it didn't. Make your own thread if you want to discuss 2000's anime.

>make your own thread if you want to discuss 2000's anime

what a fucking manchild.

Currently watching L-Gaim cuz in the 80's Tomino was arguably at his best.

Attached: vlcsnap-2019-02-22-20h26m33s897.png (640x480, 239K)

Made your own thread yet?

What do you think about the Dororo anime adaptation from 1969. Is it good?

Attached: mpvshot-Dororo to Hyakkimaru (1969) ep 01 [480p Hi10p DVD][BBT-RMX][5ea1e6c2]-00:16:49.800-01.png (640x480, 378K)

Oniisama e

pic related is the best modern adaptation of a retro manga. Maybe even the best adaptation in general.
It's a bit dumped down for the modern anime audience, the director admits as much, but still a quality piece of audiovisual storytelling. Certainly much better than the movie.
Tekkon Kinkreet and Blue Spring are really good as well. Taiyo Matsumoto is just one of the very best mangaka.

Attached: pingpong_theanimation.jpg (748x1069, 133K)

NYT anime of the year coming through!

Finish Star Gunman Bismarck on Monday, aside from slow pacing it was a great anime. Started watching Gasaraki and Govarian a while ago, surprised nobody talks about them. Until Discotek gives a release date for Govarian I am watching it via AnimeShinigami's release which is nowhere near as bad as /m/ /y/nes about it being.

Attached: waiting for discotek release of govarian is suffering.png (705x529, 526K)

>M-made your own thread yet, s-senpai?

No, servant.

Pretty good, more faithful to the tone of the original thank the new anime. They still didn't manage to get Hyakkimaru right though, he's too serious in here. Dororo is a fun little shit.

Jushin Liger is awesome and has been completely translated, you should see it, user. It's one of the best anime of the 80s.

well, it's not like the manga was really dated in anyway. I think I remember there was a gundam reference in the manga, which was changed to an evangelion reference in the anime.

>it's a bit dumped down for the modern anime audience
It's really not, the adaption is pretty much 1:1, Yuasa did add a bit more to Dragon's character, and the Butterfly Joe backstory though.

i hope soon for this one

Attached: Black-Jack-Osamu-Tezuka-manga-Surgeon-Hands-God.jpg (500x437, 38K)

Romeo's Blue Skies used to be my favorite back in the day. I recently rewatched it and it still holds up pretty well. The OP still gives me chills.

is it know outside of France?

I can't help but just want to thank you for posting best girl.

I like it a lot. Very early Dragon Ball-ish and fairly true to the games. Also Daisy best waifu.

Finished KOR TV, watching the OVAs now before the movies. I like the show when it's doing crazy shit or parodying movies, but the characters being so shit is a major bump in the road to overcome. I would have dropped it within a few episodes if it weren't so gorgeous.

Great shit. Thanks you very much.

Really enjoyed watching giant robo on a long flight the other day. Did anno have this in mind when making evangelion?

watched 49 episodes of Touch! in a week. This show is way better than I expected. The animation is good, the music is good, the story is good, and the acting is way way better than most modern anime. Wish the writing was a bit more tight, but I enjoy every episode so it's hard to complain.

Nyaa has the entire series translated. Am I missing something? I was planning to watch it next.

Take a look at the director before you get all exited.

Touch had a literal who director as well, you never know with Adachi adaptions.

tell me i cant find any info

I'd like to see more Black Jack anime too. Hopefully less childish than the TV anime and not overly edgy and sexed up like the Dezaki one.

He directed Tokyo Ghoul:re, which is infamous for being completely butchered. I really want Mix to be good though, you'd think that adapting Adachi is pretty straight forward.

Just one, it was released multiple times for some reason.

It depends how many episodes it'll get, really.

some were depressing like Rémi sans famille and dog of flanders

1) most are based on European novels
2) you're easy to impress

There wasn't any need to be an asshole though.

The lamb dies.

I finally got the Gundam 0079 opening out of my head, but it was replaced with Baby Shark. This is what you get when you stop watching anime. Heed my warning.

Remi turns into melodramatic garbage during its final third, though. It's one of the prime examples why a strict episode count is bad. At the end all the important character end up happy, even his mom (his real mom, not the whore who gave birth to him). The animals were merely comedy relief anyway.

That's nothing compared to A Dog Flanders.
Why the fuck do classic western kids novels have so much suffering?

Based on a book? I remember reading something like that. Lots of traveling, right?

>his real mom, not the whore who gave birth to him
What in the world do you have against his birth mother?

considering all the suffering he endured throughout, I guess you're right, death was relief.
that's so fucked up though

Not like most of the Japanese originals were any different back then. Gamba has a slaughter every two or so episodes, many of the Toei movies literally have parents, siblings and other loved ones die left and right. Miyazaki made anime soft. Noone important ever dies in the flicks he directed for children.

I gave up on the Hokuto no Ken anime out of sheer boredom. I might give the manga a go if you recommend it.

A lot of people died in Nausicaa though, well the manga at least, Porco too.

its a classic i enjoyed it but that was 15 years ago

What was the name of a romance anime (1969? or 1970) with a guy that had a crush on a woman older than him. It had like 70+ episodes. I vaguely remember it, if you can help an user out, please reply

Just watched LOGH ep 82 and honestly my soul was crushed. Definitely the hardest hitting episode I have seen. I think I'll need to grieve for a week before I can continue...

Original DB is One piece before one piece in terms of over the top adventures. And its good even with the fillers (you can avoid them if you wanna go fast wich is perfectly fine, but if you are patient, watch them, or at least give a couple of them a chance). fillers at DBZ is something you will prefer to avoid.

I think it'll be an upscale. sadly.

Next BDs were delayed because Araizumi had emergency open heart surgery and has been to the ER several times since then, and hasn't been able to draw the illustrations yet.

Can any old French weebs or possibly other Europeans help me out?

Im French Canadian and we had the French dubs of their animes also air here. Dragon ball and DBZ were obviously the bigger ones but there was TONS of them I just can't remember with my old ass brain.

I just sat there as a 6 year old or whatever and watched cartoons not knownig then that they were anime. They just had a different style.

I also remember Les Cites D'or and Remi Sans Famille. The latter was a big fucking bummer as a kid to watch. What were some other 80s/90s French dubbed anime?

seriously? I can't seem to find anything about that on the web but your right though, it does appear to be delayed

You'd have to follow his Twitter account, but he has been talking about his health issues for the past several months and how it's delayed his work.

Heard that there were plans for this to get a movie adaptation, but it 99% won't live up to Kon's works while he was alive. Really a shame that this will never reach its full potential because the premise is honestly really amazing

Dororo has been really good and decently popular. Hopefully it can be an impetus for more Tezuka adaptations of his "dude and his loli" manga like Black Jack.

Attached: 1548179332395.jpg (1000x1188, 190K)

Man & his loli is a great combination every time, I hope it becomes a trend from now on with Dororo and the new Range Murata anime coming out soon.

If they adapt BJ again, I hope they choose an actress for Pinoko with a less grating voice than Yuuko Mizutani (which was a shame, because her normal voice was very pleasant). I wouldn't mind a character redesign either as long as they choose a good artist who can create something suitable to the setting like Hiroyuki Asada did for the new Dororo, and not something hideous like Young Black Jack.

Attached: 1543046028580.png (734x572, 136K)

My first experience with Black Jack was through the Dezaki OVAs, so that look is pretty ingrained in me, even after reading the manga.
That said, a new character design that was a happy medium between Tezuka's cartoonish style and Dezaki's seriousness wouldn't be a bad compromise.

Attached: [Moozzi2] Black Jack OVA - 05 (BD 1848x1080 x.264-10Bit Flac).mkv_20170105_224826.954.png (1848x1080, 3.71M)

I came to Black Jack through the Dezaki OVAs too, but didn't associate the series too much with that artstyle because it was too clearly a Dezaki product and looked a lot like his other series.

I liked the style of the Sora kara kita kodomo OVA that came out in 2000 (whose director is also staff on the new Dororo). It was close to the manga designs without looking as juvenile as the TV anime.

Attached: 1531437278538.jpg (640x480, 52K)

>Sora kara kita kodomo OVA
Huh. I haven't seen that one. And it does look like the sort of happy medium I was thinking about.

same im 20 eps in

It's a really nice adaptation of that story, my favorite of the animated versions of Black Jack because of how it strikes the right balance between grit and warmth. A TV series in that style would have been just what the doctor ordered, but it wasn't to be, maybe never will be.

Recently I bought a VHS tape of one of the live action films that's the only adaptation ever made of some of the Pinoko chapters, which was never released to DVD/BD. I've seen two other live action versions of Black Jack and they work oddly well for a manga that isn't especially realistic.

Pinoko is such an annoying little brat though, she pisses me off and adds nothing to the story.

Why would you want a torrent? Just download it directly with XDCC.

Pinoko adds a lot to the story by bringing out sides of Black Jack that you would never see when he interacts with anyone else. She shares a lot in common with him and they have a unique bond. I like her a lot.

Attached: 1528821824684.jpg (2048x1394, 616K)

They're also reworking the subs.

Sorry user. Black Jack is much cooler when he is alone and she plays no role in the story.

"Cooler", sure. I read Black Jack for more than just the title character being "cool".

There's a page for it on Crunchyroll but it's unavailable in my country. Been thinking about asking HS to rip it.

This is the same studio that made Goshogun for those that don't know

they missed the opportunity to make a loli + mecha anime

Gavan had the best main hero and action, Sharivan had the best main villain and music, and Shaider had the best side characters and comedy with the highest stakes. Juspion out classes them in all fields, however.

ah yes, the beginning of pedo anime.

>Shaider
i had the toy on my birthday that my big bro broked the same day

Supposedly one of their magic girl shows makes a reference to Goshogun, does anyone know anything about that? Also what is the situation in terms of translations for the Pierrot stuff? Pic not related.

thats a big onee-san

Translations for Pierrot magic girl series of the 80s is what I was trying to say, sorry if I want not clear enough.

>from the same studio that made Tobikage
Already a hard sell, hopefully I'm not the only one that slogged through that.

dont know for english but in France there is a lot of dvd box for nearly all magical girls anime

Cryin' shame; it looked like it had some pretty good ideas but never got the chance to do anything with them.

after a quick look through KissAnime it seems like Creamy Mami and Fancy Lala have their main series done (the latter apparently has a dub to boot) and Pastel Yumi is only a few eps away from being complete while none of the OVAs aside from a big crossover were ever done.

No

Yes, it's the animated adaptation closest to the spirit of the manga. It's just one chapter, but it'll give you an idea if you want to delve into the rest of Black Jack.

>it's the animated adaptation closest to the spirit of the manga
ok but why the blue when in the manga he get the skin from the little black boy

Because that's how Tezuka originally colored him in the manga. The backstory about BJ's half-black school friend was something he came up with later. Probably at first he was only trying to make BJ look as creepy as possible and so gave him the scars and discoloration on his face.

The black was initially supposed to be just shadow. Can anyone please remind me what was the actual first BJ chapter? I'm curious about that now.

it was some bad and shitty rich boy who had an accident and his grand father payed BJ to save him but he instead save another poor boy and even switched their faces (i think i cant quite remember)

Doesn't matter much. Going by a hunch/preference/balancing, I would watch TV series, then Nolandia, then Eden (Movie), then the 10-part OVA series, then Flight 005 Conspiracy.

TV series is good though, dunno what you heard.

Watched it awhile back and really enjoyed it. Seen bits of City Hunter before and been meaning to watch it forever, recent bluray gave me the perfect excuse.

Not directly.

Boku no Marie

Man there should be much more gifs/webms from that. There were good moments for those in it.

It sucked though so nobody would want to bother.

Presence and Megazone 23 II is great but I don't like Kite and the other one.

There's great many good ones but this deserves mention.

Video Girl Ai is awesome, I would have liked DNA² too but Junta's too much of a beta that not even the hot chicks could save the show.

I've been watching Galaxy Express 999 on and off these past few months. I'm almost at the end. Can't wait to see what happens.

Been recently reading Dororo since I liked the anime so far and it's a great read.

>Video Girl Ai is awesome
really? I found it to be quite meh.

Rion from Agent Aika looks like Hikaru from Nadesico. There, I said it.

I don't know, the characters just clicked I thought. Even though the premise is nonsense the people in the story felt believable almost like a live action drama being seen from a 2D lens. It's very different from Junta being a chick magnet despite having no charisma with Yugioh hair and bleeding through his nose at the sight of anything and everything.

For those unaware copyright nazis pretty much destroyed AnimeShinigami's subtitle releases earlier today. They were the folks that fully subbed Ambassador Magma, Dorvack, God Mazinger, Govarian, and Jushin Liger. They only got four eps into Daiohja, a 1980 anime so obscure there isn't a wikipedia article on it, when this struck and they intended to do Getter Robo Go. I am peeved like God Sigma here. KissAnime still has most of their english releases, but still.

watching Utena for the first time. I'm not really into shoujo and I'm not super great at parsing "deep" stuff, but I'm really enjoying it.

is this superjail

I know what it is; why is she doing it?

she's hardly a tomboy though, have you actually read princess knight?

She exemplifies tomboy, especially during the period it was created it. I know people usually groan at the bold woman thing by now, but 60 years ago it was totally radical and not seen very often. Use the Disney princess films from when Disney was still living as a comparison, and It's much easier to see. And her being not-female is a premise.

yeah but the thing is, sapphire doesn't even want to be a "tomboy," and after it's revealed she's not a male, which is quite early, she yearns to act like a proper girl. it seemed like every instance she could get was in efforts to acting like a proper lady and finding love.

Well it's already been uploaded so it'll always be around in some form. The /m/useum thread is already on it.

Just wait for Discotek to rescue that shit. Much better video and subtitle quality than hardsubbed 200 MB MP4 files in 2019.

that's also another show i'm watching. this OP has no reason to be this good.

I loved Madoka and find the dumb scenarios enjoyable. I also find Kasuga oddly relatable for some reason. I rarely can ever self insert into teenaged anime protagonists, Kasuga just works for me for some reason. The ost and all the ops and eds are amazing as well, Kanako Wada is a great singer. It has a nice color palette and is just pleasant to look at most of the time as well. The side cast are all pretty useless though and it is the same shit over and over again until the last 15 episodes or so when they start to throw in some cooler parody episodes and stuff. I loved the Sukeban Deka parody episode.

Me too

KOR just gives off an absolutely terrible first impression and does nothing to remedy it. It's supposed to be about a guy who likes two girls and can't decide between them, but in actuality it's about a guy who likes one girl and this other girl just calls him darling and he goes with it because ??? Literally all the author had to do was make Hikaru an actual character and it would have been fine.

>It's supposed to be about a guy who likes two girls and can't decide between them

Says who? Madoka is established as the romantic interest from the beginning, Hikaru just falls into his lap because she thinks he is cool because he low key uses his power at one point. There is never any indication of him really liking her as a partner all that much, so there is no reason to expect the show to be about that at any point. But they make it pretty clear in the show that Kasuga likes the attention from Hikaru, and often is finding himself sexually attracted to her, even if he isn't all that into her beyond that. Whenever she strays in the show he makes an effort to stop her from actually moving on from him. He gets pissed at the idea of her dating other guys and the like. The dynamic is about Kasuga wanting to somehow satisfy both the girls emotionally and get both of their affection, even though Madoka is the one he actually cares about on the deeper level and its not actually possible for him to do so, so he just ignores the reality of the situation and procrastinates and goes through the same dumb motions over and over again. He isn't willing to take the steps to change things because of the consequences of doing so, if he goes for Madoka it can cause a rift in their status quo, he would have to deal with conflict with Hikaru, and making that change causes him to lose something, and he is frankly intimidated by Madoka a lot of the time as well, so he never finds the courage to actually make the plunge. Its about a teenager's own immaturity leaving him frustrated and a in a lot of trouble that he has to constantly mitigate, thats probably why it was such a success, Kasuga's flaw is incredibly common among boys his age and it would be cathartic and relateable to them.

It has tons of flaws, like Hikaru being too one dimensional. But it does seem like many people bring in too much baggage about what the show "should" be instead of taking it for what it is.

Putin, Obama, Merkel...dont know the 3 others

>It has tons of flaws
the biggest for me is the time travel part

I would literally watch every old magical girl series in existence if only they had subs

They both have the same whacky light-hearted fantasy appeal, yeah. Chacha's a shoujo while Guru Guru's a shounen.

Watched every single City Hunter series and movies and spinoff series. It was all great. Tried watching Cat's Eye but that was fucking gay.

Literally just started Monster which is post-2000's but after i'm done with that, I will watch Future Boy Conan.

I've seen the best of the 70's. Everything from Kitaro to Ashita no Joe, and i gotta say the coolest was Lupin III Part 1.There's nothing else like it. Didn't much care for the Gundam, Leiji stuff, or Go Nagai adaptions very much. I think the decade was better with dramas, character pieces, and thrillers though.

Also probably gonna sleep so I hope to see a new thread tonight.

I just watched the first episode of Saint Tail.
The concept of theft and crime doesn't appeal to me, and I hate christianity, but she's cute and if it isn't purely episodic it may still be enjoyable.

>Tried watching Cat's Eye but that was fucking gay
how so? its 3 sexy girls

why is the anime so different than the manga?

Space Battleship Yamato was so god damn boring i'm terried to start Captain Harlock and especially Galaxy Express 999. Please tell me they aren't nearly as slow with such uninteresting dialogue.

Imo
Galaxy Express 999 > Space Battleship Yamato > Captain Harlock

i dont remember but its all by Leiji so

But Yamato was so good

diid you watch the 2010 movie?

Attached: space-battleship-yamato-3.jpg (945x1358, 229K)

I've only seen the first TV series. Maybe I should continue, but don't feel a strong need to.

Attached: Sol Bianca 2 [OnDeed] [7C9C8363].mkv_snapshot_14.27_[2012.05.01_18.20.14].png (706x527, 458K)

I can't enjoy the original Yamato at all, I watched the first season and felt no reason to watch the rest. Yamato 2199 on the other hand was a blast.
Harlock's absolutely great but it's apparently the slowest of Leiji's stuff. It's worth watching for the titular character alone. All of Harlock's cast resonated with me harder than Yamato's.
I haven't watched much of Galaxy Express 999 or any other Leiji space operas though so I can't comment.

nuku nuku is easy on the eye, do quite like this ova

I thought Yamato was great. Although, it only got really good towards the end. Albeit with some retarded plot points like Kodai's brother not being dead and Yuki coming back to life. I think it was a good war story, dramatic and a really great work of post-war influenced. Japanese media.

Attached: 1280.jpg (1280x960, 244K)

If only more modern remakes of old classics were as good as 2199

Mahoujin Guru Guru's new adaption is superior to the original adaption.
With Yamato, at least there's arguments that the original is better than the remake.

they are doing a great job with Dororo

Attached: dororo_7676.jpg (650x920, 120K)

what about this one

Attached: 61yvyY76qlL._SY445_.jpg (319x445, 47K)

>bluray out
>terrible upscale of unremastered and badly treated transfer

that crap was so sick, bleh
would be so popular with all those edgy shits and incels today, though

sorry im not very good at picking good releases lol, my iq is rather low

try the DJT threads too if anyone there is interested

No, it is not your fault, the company fucked up/fucked us and the anime over.
I guess some DVD rips might looks better, but the DVD rips are old and shit too. Maybe if a new R2J rip was made, but I think the isos are dead on ADC.

I was ranting about the bluray being horrible, not your screenshot. Though Exiled-Destiny are bad R1 encodes, generally.

>Watched every single City Hunter series and movies and spinoff series. It was all great
then you will love the live action french movie
