Is GITS Stand Alone Complex good?
I remember it putting me to sleep when it was on Adult Swim, but I was like 13 then.
I like the 1995 movie if that makes a difference.

It's really good, I can't see anyone being disappointed with the series.
I just got into the franchise recently and currently going through it in chronological order. I've seen the two movies and about half way through SAC 2nd gig, and so far SAC is my favourite of the bunch.
It's not as preachy and artistic as the 1995 movie, thankfully it leaves that behind for something a little lighter but still just as cool. Even the filler episodes that have nothing to do with the overarching narrative are great.
Put me to sleep 10 years ago, but at the same time I enjoyed Witch Hunter Robin, so probably worth a watch.
its ok
2nd gig is garbo however don't even bother with it
I enjoyed mamoru oshi, but incapable of enjoying sac
probably was expecting oshi's style but isn't there, it just felt totally different
nah niqqa, 2nd gig was tite
dat dejima shitshow at the end was intense
and the saito backstory was my fav episode of the whole series
GiTS is not really for people who just want to watch cyborgs shoot and smack stuff. It really depends what you're after.
I like SAC just as much as the movie. Though oddly enough it hits sorta the same beats, but they're still incredibly different.
Like the other user said, even the filler still has very good narrative that just builds upon the established themes. The tachikomas even grew on me because they became more than heavy armored kawaii tank drones.
Season 2 was alright but a lot less better than 1.
Major X Kuze OTP
Prove me wrong
Pro tip : You can't.
He is already dead.
It's great as long as you keep in mind it's as much a police procedural as it is a sci-fi action show.
No he isn't. The possibility of him uploading is consciousness on the net is still there. He will reunite with Major in the upcoming sequel.
>He will reunite with Major in the upcoming sequel.
I wonder how Batou will react. His reaction will be priceless.
SAC is better than the oshii films
She's for Batou only
t. Batou
You are wrong. 2nd gig is the best thing that has come out of the gits franchise since the first movie.
youtu.be
Am I wrong for liking this opening so much?
>Is GITS Stand Alone Complex good?
Not even a little.
Motoko is Kurutan's sex doll even in SAC
Kuze is still the canon love interest. No worries.
t. Togusa
go back to your fat wife and ugly kid
GitS: SAC and 2nd gig are both fantastic, but if you're not into that niche or not paying attention to it then it's going to go badly for you. It's not background viewing by any means.
>2nd Gig
>bad
The Individual 11 was a beta/incel uprising engineered by the deep state, which was also attempting to exacerbate a refugee crisis. It was prophetic
There's only one person I ship with the Major
It's 90% episodic. So yeah, it's shit.
well he's getting cucked by a ditzy nurse
I've watched the famous movie only. I wanted to dive deeper into the universe but when I typed the name in the Taiga searchbar, a decouraging number of entries showed up.
There goes my motivation.
just read the first manga and watch SAC
>Implying Togusa has to use major as a wife as a cover up spy.
Batou is the perfect example of the ultimate cuck.
Manga
Stand Alone Complex series
Movie and it's sequel, Innocence
You are just a brainlet
>Implying Major has feelings for anyone but Kuze
Does anyone else find it a little strange that people want to have sex with a cyborg woman that could easily break every single bone in your body?
Seriously, how come Kamiyama wrote one of the best love stories in anime, not to mention in a cyberpunk genre? I know Oshii gave a lot of ideas for 2nd gig but the romance subplot between major and kuze was entirely his idea.
her cooch has feelings for Kurutan
>arise
vomit
Major is perfection. I think it's only natural.
i want her to break my pelvis and if so would you if you were str8
Attempting to exacerbate a refugee crisis so they could become the vassal state of a foreign empire and receive kickbacks from that empire's military industry
While the main characters are fighting to protect a reactionary jingoistic government that wants to isolate itself from mainland affairs until it can become a military hegemony
2nd gig is crazy
>upcoming sequel
Afaik the sequel will not take place in the SAC timeline. Am I misinformed?
Wait, do you not?
It's called Stand Alone Complex 2045. It's a sequel of some sort.
I don't really follow the sequel so it's good to know. Learning that Kuze is still out there would be pretty cool.
youtube.com
The OST was pure kino
she's an alcoholic sloot
Yes, and?
it would be pretty cool if it wasn't CGshit

My fucking dick.
The Sniper origin episode really stands out to me looking back
look at her, does that look like perfection?
I'm in love.
her butt is too heavy!
God imagine her pressing it against your face!
>Motoko is betterer than the best sniper cause she's the best at her job as a secret agent hacker antiterrorist with magic ghost powers
Who wrote SAC? Neil Breen?
Major is so ho-
"God I wish that were me"
-Memeru Oshii
Yes, great pulp all together. More relevant now than ever. Both the major plot and the episodic ones are enjoyable. You realize why every subsequent series is a disappointment.
batou is for tachikoma
Why is there so little fanart of goth loli Motoko? This feels like a grave oversight.
cause she's less cool and less cute, and also supposedly not really Motoko, but here's some
Best episode says otherwise
What would the manga's Motoko be like as a goth loli?
She already has a chibi form in her daily life, it wouldn't be noticeably different.
So her emergency replacement body is just Pete Burns (who used to be goth in the early 80s, so it counts)
I wonder whose kid that is. Do you think they just paid some random boy some yen to take that picture with them?
>I just got into the franchise recently and currently going through it in chronological order
you missed the prequel, Koukaku no Pandora
And Okyura made movie Motoko look like him (after he started fucking himself up with surgery)
It all comes full circle!
Pretty sure it's cgi. They needed a family photo for his mission and he had the tech guys use motoko's face for the wife.
the second season is easily one of the best anime created.
It's not something for everyone though, it can get a little convoluted and is very dialogue-heavy.
However its worldbuilding is pretty much as good as its ever going to get in anime. The way the world and problems are introduced and built-up towards the conclusion (2nd season) is really masterful.
This and poker face were probably the two best episodes of the two seasons.
I didn't know anime in general was so bad that 2nd gig was one of the best.
>It all comes full circle!
right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round
>Has to take a cover up fake family photo with major for the mission
>Meanwhile the major and kuze backstory episode is titled "affection" and major literally reveals that Kuze is the only one the she loves.
Batou never had a chance.
It is. Anime is, on average, very bad user.
You however probably couldn't identify a gem in a trashcan if you tried.
you're a trashcan
and you are a fucking dumbass
Fuck off otaking.
Otaking is a good guy, producing more Mangatoko art with SHADING
I never really got the plot for the whole Smiley Man hacker. I was way too young to understand GiTS.
rewatch it, then
it's not too complex
I really hate the episode with the talking tanks singing and dancing
I dont want to, I feel nostalgic when I watch something from the past and it makes me want to be young again.
>That episode when the Tachikomas make their last stand
God damn it was emotional
I watched it and fell asleep.
None of the character were interesting or relatable.
It's all shitty plot and exposition for like the first 12 episodes.
>hating tachikomas singing and dancing
That is what I call shit taste
One of the few good episodes.
Legitimately the only time I enjoyed the series was the tachikoma episode.
The tachikomas grew on me after a while. If their episode would have been near the start I probably would have dropped it and never looked back.
they belong together
It's the best in the series. The only movie I enjoyed the most from the series is innocence.
