I suspect the reason for including Chapter 55 this season is to not leave the relationship between Ishigami and Kaguya a loose end by Fireworks.

I recall people's comments about her listing Ishigami as one of the people she was specifically looking forward to spending time with in that arc amounting to "...really now?"

And while it's true that the particular setup for Chapter 55 links indirectly back to Fireworks, through the debt Kaguya feels she owes Ishigami being him saving her from a baka-induced near-backfire of one of her plans, I can see that being swapped out fairly easily. It's not as though Kaguya's plans haven't risked backfiring all along, after all.

Look at how rushed the 4-chapters ep was. You literally can’t go any faster than this if you want to end season 1 on Fireworks. And with how packed season 2 is going to be I’d be willing to bet that moving the Ishigami tutoring chapter was also to make next season paced correctly.

They also added some good stuff here and there, so it's not a strictly take and take relationship. Some compramise have to made, and directors are responsible in making the adaptation the best IN THEIR vision. And they thought that adapting the tutoring chapter helps to characterise Ishigami, give Kaguya a more positive side and also setting up the Ishigami-Kaguya relationship so no crack shipping shit can happen. It'll also be relevant during the Firework chapters, as she claims Ishigami to be the first kouhai she'll take care of.
