The plot itself wasn't the problem, it was the way the show forgot to use its own story telling device to show it, using flashbacks instead that made it bad.
That whole Mimi and Papika as labrats episode was a terrible concept since we pretty much was shown in a more subtle and creative way already.
Having a disturbing claustrophobic PI showing everything in a more creative way with a Mimi fight at the end would be so much better then this boring and unimaginative flashback followed by bossrush Mimi.
