Also we are talking about anime here, if we compare the anime only Kaiji is way better / smarter than Akagi, all best parts in Akagi happen after the anime ends.

Akagi was smarter than Kaiji starting from Washizu Mahjong imo (unless you count part 3 which is manga only). RPS and Ecard feel pretty shallow compared to that

Kaiji is one of the best characters ever, he starts off as a dumb crybaby NEET but then develops into a more determined, strong-willed guy, but still being as humane as ever. You should watch it even though a certain arc on Season 2 felt like it was dragging too much imo. Give it a try
