Instead of having the MC have his strengths and weaknesses, you make him a god at both swordmanship/meele combat and magic/long-range combat, which also allows you to avoid the usual disadvantage of not being as good at magic or swordmanship as someone who dedicated himself entirely to one thing.
Plus, instead of writing interesting battles you can just copy every battle shounen in existance and have the MC cut faggots with his sword while spamming magic spells.

Yes, superhuman strength stats, mages who are underpowered but are actually good at their job, and priests in general are all entirely underused but can absolutely be balanced.

Not that user, but I'd like to see magic swordsmen who fight similarily to Vanguards in Mass Effect, i.e. create a barrier around yourself and launch that barrier containing you straight into the enemy while also using the sword as a medium to launch magical long-range shockwaves that knock enemies into trees, rocks or walls.
I want to get the impression that magic swordmen are pure weapons of mass destruction.

Magic swordsmen tend to be adept at both and use only one of the two in a fight instead of having to rely on both because they lack the skill in the individual fields.

I.e. instead of oneshotting dragons with big fucking spells yet still cleaving the heads of a hydra off with ease, he'd have to cast magical buffs and debuffs before engaging, using offensive spells to weaken the opponent as he approaches and then proceed to finishing the job with a sword.

But then again, I suppose this problem is more about mc's being overpowered than it is about how they utilize their skillsets.

This shit always annoys me when it comes to MC gaining waifus and followers.
People worship the MC for helping them and claim they are kind, selfless and heroic and while I don't exactly disagree, I always felt like the fact that they are demigods diminishes that "kindness".
A regular guy who risks his life to save someone despite knowing he is likely to die is indeed heroic and selfless but can you say the same of a guy who is so fucking powerful that not only he knows that there is no way he will be harmed in any way but also knows he can deal with any repercussion that might come his way?
I mean, for the one being saved it probably doesn't matter because the MC still bothered to save her/him but from an outsiders viewpoint, a demigod doing such a minor act of kindness feels like a very minor thing.
It even makes me wonder if they would even try to do something like that if they didn't have god-like power.

Master is usually heal, buff, and shield bot. Usually Master and Fran tend to chain double spell or so for more powers.
In the end these two fight as one anyway.

That kind of increases as time goes on. Though Fran can toss out really potent spells, she still focuses on swording, and lets Shishou blast spells off. However she has learned from him, and their teamwork. So if she didn't have him casting those spells, she would still be sure they were being cast.

Her ancestors were absurdly powerful, the current crippled population is honestly pretty irrelevant, Fran just needs to rape a dude at some point to keep the blood from dying out and it's all peachy.

That's not a magic swordsman, but rather a person who half-bakedly learned magic and sword.
Rather depending on the lore, if there are no annoying "magic affinity" issues, then in high/hyper-fantasy world, a magic swordsman should drop any training for the standard elements like water/fire/earth/wind (aside from maybe the basics of basics like how to make a small flame for illumination in caves) and instead focus only on training gravity/space/barrier/telekinesis magic and learn a swordstyle that's taking these magics for granted - learning regular swordstyles is good for emergencies where magic ran out, but is not that useful for the magic swordman battlestyle. The problem is that such a fighting style would require a sturdy sword and practise with wooden swords would probably be costly and require a lot of replacements, so this is not an easy thing to accomplish even if we assume a hyper-fantasy world were magic is available all over the place and can be easily combined with each other.

those offspring would still be under the curse until an S rank evil being was defeated and I don't think Fran has anything on the Old Lady Black Cat as far as raising up powerful fighters. Give her a few years and maybe but by that point I expect some of those weaklings would have made something of themselves and be ready to evolve

Because it's generic, and the first thing most people's minds jump to. Swords were basically sidearms, except for the claymore/zewihander/longsword that always gets skipped in favor of an arming sword or absurdly large sword.

It literally isn't inhabited in the novel, though. I don't remember if there were countries remaining besides North Africa (they did mention Egypt higher-ups running away through the portal), but it's fully possible there are so few people there for so long, the infrastructure should have crumbled decades ago.

Hey, I think isekai is doing fairly well in that regard. OK, I might have pushed it a little with Slime, but everyone else is obvious.

In a sense, it depends on how alien the new world is to the MC compared to the old one.

So Back to the Future isn’t really an isekai, since the 1950s are relatively similar to the 1980s. A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court? Massive difference. Definitely an isekai. So yes, I’d say your example counts.

It's about whether the "another world" aspect is ment subjectively or objectively. If it's subjectively then anything where the MC is in what he/she considers "alien", it would be considered an isekai. However if it's objectively, then it must be an actual other dimension to be considered isekai.

Couplet is a bit of an exception. What I meant was that he won't get any discussion about what happened in the chapter. At most he will just get an empty (You) when he posts his stuff. And pastebin anons get way less attention not because their stuff is bad, it's because everyone expects them to not have taken their story seriously since they didn't officially post it. When a guy says "please comment on my stuff and tell me what to change" I expect his story to be bad and that he will make changes to it. I don't want to have to read the same chapter two times to know the edits so I just skip the pastebins until official release that won't be further edited.

Yeah, pastebin stories feel like they are inherently low quality or a "beta" of the actual story so I never touch them and tend to wait till the story gets posted in a more "serious" place like RoyalRoad.
