I liked it. The CG action was well achieved, the story was compelling if a bit cliched (which I can forgive since it's based on a pretty old manga/ova) and the performance of Ido and Alita was cool. I guess being a secondary is a blessing in disguise for cases like these.

Way too much stuff was happening for me to care about anybody. And then they pull the "sad music, care for this emotional scene" thing, when the character has been on screen for about 10 minutes 9 of them being super bad acting.

MAL was a mistake.

It honestly fucking sucked and not only was a waste of money, but also a waste of time. Keep in mind that I've never read the source material, so I'm unable to male any cments on how true to the manga the movie was.

Anyway, first off the writing was atrocious. Full of cliche and really cheesy lines likw "I do not stand still in the presence of evil" and other trash like that.
The pacing of the movie sucked too. It took way too long for anything to actually happen, but they barely showed any character development. Alita goes from seeing that guy (don't even remember his name) once, to playing sports ball, and then the next time she sees him she is head over heels in love.
And as long as we're talking about the guy, the casting choice for him was terrible. He was a bad actor and his face annoys me.
The last criticism I have is that the CGI was just mediocre. You'd expect that a movie about robots fighting would have really good CGI, but it wasn't impressive at all. I think even Avatar from however many years ago had better looking CGI than this trash.

Overall I'd give the movie a 2/10, and no I am not shitposting or baiting. This is really what I thought of the movie. The critics were in fact too generous with that 54/100 rating, and the only reason the user rating is so high is because it's saturated with nostalgiafags who can't handle the thought of their precious anime adaptation being bad.

I've seen much worse than Alita and for an American live action anime adaptation the movie did better than most previous attempts which is a positive thing.
