Toguro was prime yu-yu-hakusho, was yu-yu-hakusho losing steam, and demon world was a good idea at the beginning but togashi lost interest

Sensui was Meruem done right.

I don't know. Sensui and Meruem have very little in common. Meruem feels more like a reverse Toguro. Toguro was a good guy, who became corrupted, stronger and more evil over time, while Meruem was all that, but became better over time. And while I loved Sensui for the most of the arc, he really failed me in the final stretch of the arc. First of all, that elf getup in pic related has to be one of the worst designs Togashi has ever done. Second, he has too many things going on with him. Seems like Togashi had more ideas than he could fit into one character, but he did it anyway. I liked his original setup as the rouge spirit detective who failed because of his very basic black and white morality. But then come the seven personalities (where like 3 of them are ever shown, while the others play no role at all). And then comes his ultimate motivation of wanting a good death by a worthy demon (which is basically Toguro all over again). And Finally, his defeat is the biggest asspull in the series. Basically Sensui started of good and interesting, but got way too complicated and overwritten by the end.

Sad, understandable and human backstory that led to his downfall. And then there was his honor and other redeeming qualities, like stealth mentoring Yusuke. And he had an emotional death. And while he was around, he was peak menacing and a real credible villain.

i would of liked him more if they didnt do the "im like you protaganist... but evil" 2 arcs in a row. heck i would of been more forgiving if they did it again fir the final arc but they didn't.

I would say the minute Yusuke died, it turned to shit. Yusukes death was the last great scene in that arc.
This scene was one of the shows top tier moments. Kurama was at his darkest, Toguro popping his head out of that guys throat was a great surprise and the way he went out was cruel and cool.

what made toguro similar to yusuke? their fighting styles were completely different, he wasn't a spirit detective. the only similarity i remember is getting their mentor killed, which toguro did near the end of the arc anyway

They were both blood knights who enjoyed fighting way too much. Through the dark tournament, you can see Yusuke getting this psychotic smile on his face every time the battle gets more and more rough. So they have a similar love for fighting. Whereas Sensui is Yusuke's exact opposite, Toguro is more what Yusuke would become if he decided to abandon his good tendencies and love for his True Companions and gave in to his inner Blood Knight. Even his coat is olive green, a darker shade to Yusuke's usual outfit. Not to mention they also share a Deadpan Snarker trait.

Maybe that was the ending, But the editor said "No, you must keep going" and Togashi been the faggot that he is, shited in the bed on purpose

I think Togashi had bigger plans for the 3 kings arc, but conflicts with the editor and censoring made it hard for him to continue that arc, so he kinda gave up.

Well written but his visual design leave something to be desired. There's just to little effort put into his design.

No way fag. He works well in his show but is nothing remarkable on his own. You have to be better than a good fit to be the best of all time. A really good villain should be able to stand on his own.

Sensui gun hand was the most random shit I've seen in Yu Yu Hakusho.

I agree. It would have been much more poetic and cool if he did the finger gun thing that Yusuke does, just to mock him. Or if he pulled an actual gun on Yusuke.

I liked the Seiko Ki (sacred aura) part. That he reached the max power that a human could achieve and not even Genkai in her lifetime could do.

Toguro was more a traditional martial artist wokimg for a rich guy and Sensui was a crazy gay terrorist.

I remember watching this as a kid and thinking this was the silliest powerup transformation I'd ever seen.

He worked extremely well in the context of the show. And he was menacing, had an interesting power and looked cool. He was one of the more memorable things in that show, and I love that show.
