Great. Season 1 is a blast but S2 is where it becomes GOAT.
Fun 80's over-the-top adventure comedy about a Japanese sweeper who will only take jobs from beautiful women who he tries to seduce every chance he gets while his hot headed tomboy partner gets jealous and beats the shit out of him with a giant hammer. The guy is a goofy Lupin III esque character but is also a legitimate badass and broken human being. Add onto the fact it's 80's Japan and you got yourself something great.

Usually when you look for lists of 80's anime, it's plagued with mostly mecha shit so I wanted to make one that excluded that. Truthfully I much prefer anime from the 70's and 90's but the 1980's was the peak for high quality animation as well as freedom to do almost anything in anime.

I fucking love Godzilla 1984 and Godzilla VS Biollante, the 80's Tokyo at night aesthetics, the gritty Sci-fi / espionage undertones, the anti-G Super X mecha, the tragedy of Dr Shiragami, who wished to used Godzilla cells for peace but instead made a horrible Godzilla/Plant abomination hybrid. I love the look and orchestral sounds of these films and Godzilla VS Biollante originally had an anime sequence ending, but it was removed because it clashed with the rest of the film

No. He never really got over Kaori's death. They hint at a possible relationship with Saeko but they're both caught up in their work. I could go on for an hour talking about the oddity known as Angel Heart and how it's so different than City Hunter. Also you'll cry like a little bitch after watching it because the characters are put in emotional situations in contrast to the lighthearted City Hunter stories. Seeing Ryo of all people bawling over a drawing of Kaori is one of the most powerful things i've ever seen. I don't get emotional to corny anime shit like Angle Beats or Clannad but after 100 episodes of investing into the characters of City Hunter, Angel Heart makes sure you wont forget them. That being said, I don't like the direction they went with for a continuation for City Hunter since it's just too different and I feel the main Chinese girl is a little on the bland side, but it's a great story on it's own. Anyway, no he doesn't get with Saeko during the 50 episodes of Angel Heart but they hint at it. They may have gotten married in the manga though.

Haven't seen much 80's anime so I don't know what to tackle next. My favorites so far are Lupin III Part 3 and City Hunter. I'm hesitant to start Legend of the Galactic Heroes because i'm terrified of it being 100+ episodes of boring dialogue talking about political war bullshit so i'll pass for now. Seems like a lot of the shows people talk about the most are long running which i'd rather wait on. Plus i'm not a mecha guy so shit like Gundam and Macross are excluded even though i'll watch them at some point. Aside from all that, everyone just talks about the "so bad it's good" anime like Bubblegum Crisis and a lot of those scifi OVAs which is conflicting since i'm trying to find the really good shit. A few things in my list already at least had HD remasters for previous DVD releases, like Cyber City, Silent Mobius, and Iria. Others still need it just to look presentable in the modern age, like the Weathering Continent or Please Save My Earth. There's still a fuckton of old anime out there that need love.

Keep in mind the prices on the site are retail price and not the actual amount you pay. It's much lower when you buy it off Rightstuf which is the go-to place for anime BDs (which I assume you're aware of). You can pay even less since the distributor (Discotek) has sales for their DVDs/BD's on Rightstuf every other month. I managed to nab all 130+? Episodes of Fist of the Northstar on BD during one of their sales for like $40 (even though it was a standard definition BD it still looked great).

I should also mention they announce new shit all the time on their Twitter and Facebook page. Currently i'm looking forward to their release of Cyborg 009 (2002), Galaxy Express 999, and a few old crappy OVAs.
