asspulls and jobbing.

Wasn't careful enough

Basically he got too cocky.

He took over L's job like an idiot. If he just left the investigation and stayed away, they could never catch him, especially given his newfound experience on the inner-workings of it all.

he messed up the early game by falling for L's ploy and revealing he had access to police information, if he had been as tactical as in his prime the search woould not have been narrowed down to him as one of the suspects

his allies became liabilities and fucked up which meant he went down too.

These go hand in hand most of the time. Also he gets baited by L too easily. This all could've been avoided had he more self-control. L basically smugposted and he reeeee'd like a retard.

This

>Lind L. Tailor: HAHAHA YOU'RE SUCH A FAG COME AT ME BRO
He's an actual idiot for taking this bait.

The moment he killed L's trap on live TV it was over. The moment L and Light interacted, L knew the entire time but had to legally prove it which is the point of the entire show.

It was that bastard mikami

Too much delegation, could've gotten away with his plans eventually if he took his time rather than using others to try and get them done faster.

By being a power-mad dumbass.

Killing Lind L Tailor wasn’t even his biggest mistake
>gwern.net/Death-Note-Anonymity

>stopped carrying a spare scrap of the death note with him at all times
>didn't even tell Mikami to keep an extra page hidden just in case
Because the author wanted him to.

He let his emotions get the best of him. He was easy to provoke. He was also impatient. Overall he didn't really make enough considerations. It would have been easy for him to randomize the times of death for example, or even make the times of death occur at a point that would give him an alibi, such as when he's in class. If he wasn't such an emotional sperg he'd have won.

This... he is too impulsive by far considering how intelligent he is supposed to be. Had he not killed the fake L right at the start during the tv broadcast or even delayed the kill he might never have been singled out. As it is he needed the big showy kill live on air and confirmed L's suspicion of where he was.

The show is full of similar examples. Had he just ignored L I don't see how he would have been caught in the end.

>Had he not killed the fake L right at the start during the tv broadcast or even delayed the kill he might never have been singled out. As it is he needed the big showy kill live on air and confirmed L's suspicion of where he was.
He thought he was the hottest shit and nobody would be able to seriously investigate a supernaturatual force killing people left and right
He was like 17 or something, i. e. just one step from listening to Crawling on repeat

Everyone always talks about the Lind L. Taylor incident, but the real thing that allowed him to be caught was using the police database. That narrowed the numbers of suspects to an actually reasonable amount

whatever DELETE guy was called
was getting stalked by the CIA, they eventually caught him doing something irregular and took their chance to swap the book

The real asspull was the youngest police officer having perfect aim to shoot his hand. Shooting his hand is actually better than getting shot in the chest here. If he got shot in the chest, light would still be able to write names with his dying breath.

well but that wouldn't be in line with his character, he wanted as much power as he could, plus he wanted to join the police anyway

much like anyone who couldve changed the world for the better

I also think he enjoyed the rush of working with the people aiming to catch him. It probably fueled his fantasies of being unique and godlike whenever he outsmarted them.

>he shouldn't have used heart attacks
>what is psychological warfare

Autism.
Real question is, how did he survive for as long as he did: convenience.

Sill can't get over the bullshit of near just randomly guessing " lol let's put all our efforts on spying that one guy cuz muh ultra instinct "

He wanted to prove his existence so badly he fell for L’s TV shenanigans.

I miss him bro

bög

If he never had kill Lind L. Taylor, it would have been a whole different tale.

REMIND YOURSELF

>>didn't even tell Mikami to keep an extra page hidden just in case
Near wrote Mikamis final actions in the Death Note

THAT OVERCONFIDENCE IS A SLOW AND INSIDIOUS KILLER

Loose in what being caught?

Please keep this line in darkest dungeon 2 Red Hook

Pic related shows Light's retardedness

Attached: 0I0A.jpg (728x1062, 140K)

The main point was the anonymity loss. Light wants to be known, not caught. As the guy wrote even the most discreet killings would still be noticed by statisticians and lead to anonymity loss

He's not that smart. He's written like someone imagining what a smart person would do in this situation and the character got stuck up his own ass.

>Story wise?
got too cocky and went full retard after beating L.
>No bullshit?
Author wanted to end story after Light beat L but because it was so popular he was forced by jump to continue the story, therefore all the out of character shit Light does.

Hubris
this is basic stuff

>got too cocky and went full retard after beating L.
Rather the opposite. He himself criticized his excessive involvement in part 1.
>Author wanted to end story after Light beat L
Over parroted horseshit.

Attached: 008.jpg (1066x1600, 383K)

>just about to win
>gotta brag about it at the last second to my enemy
>you know not that he can't hear while he's having a heart attack or anything
>he doesn't die
the situation has become one which is unsatisfactory

God I fucking hate near. Death Note finished when L died. I just wanted Light to win.

Attached: oh.png (849x541, 207K)

can you imagine if he had won

>Over Parroted horseshit.
Author literally makes a reference to it in his next series, bakumon.

She could have been literally referencing Toriyama, for all you know. Unless they both flat out say it, it's all headcanon. Author always planned only up until 3 chapters in advance, precisely because she wanted to end the series at an arbitrary number of chapters.

>she
And you bring up head canon ? last time I check author is still anonymous

Skip the last episode and it basically perfect.

She identifies as a woman, why are you being so disrespectful?

>He thought he was the hottest shit and nobody would be able to seriously investigate a supernaturatual force killing people left and right
no this is completely logical. however in anime, people do all kinds of illogical shit that ends up being right anyway

More like he didn't realize how incompetent the police actually was.

I still don't get why the author decided to let Light make all the mistakes when he already developed a character like Misa that could have been the chaos in Light's strategy. Misa could have been the antagonist of the first season, making countless of mistakes and Light would need to play along and find a way to dispose of her without dying by the beta orbiter shinigami. The end of season 1 could leave Light in a position where he was relatively early in the anime, namely his location being known as well as being a huge suspect like after killing Tailor.

Why the fuck would anyone want to stop him? What a forced conflict.

I like how the musical portrayed Misa's character and Light winning, too bad it ended with Ryuk's betrayal.

But he didn't, the manga ended after L died

Attached: RKceLp9.png (351x329, 216K)

If I was L I would have immediately raided the Yagami household after Light starting looking at the porn mag without even masturbating.

It did? Really?

He made bad choices, and became over confident.

Isn't that the rule, anyone who use the book will die

Would Light avoid the whole investigation on him if he just masturbated back then? L would shut down the camera and conclude the mastermind Kira would be more careful than that, and eventually Light would find his way to L without him even expecting that.

And that's exactly why no-fap is retarded and you should never fall for it. Light went no-fap and see how he ended up.

Attached: 1423769584860.jpg (369x355, 28K)

People are saying Light is retarded but literally every character in Death Note was retarded. L was fucking incredibly retarded countless of times. It was a poorly written manga published in a kids magazine, nothing of quality is to be expected.

anyone who don't use the book will die too

That actually sounds like a great ending, the whole thing is just a way for Ryuk to amuse himself and is ultimately futile.

If he would have masturbated to some degenerate fetish then L would have never thought shit like "that's suspiciously normal". Honestly if I watched some autist like Light that did nothing but learn at his desk with the only exciting things happening in days is when he ate a bag of potato chips and skimmed trough a porn mag I would be even more suspicious of him afterwards.

The cleverest thing Light ever did was to recline his doorknob to know when someone entered his room when he was away.

Everybody will die sooner or later
Also the rule was "book users don't go to hell or heaven" which implied either that
1)Light becomes a shinigami
b)There is no heaven or hell for anybody
iii)Everybody go to the same place

Attached: 1547316764889.jpg (604x604, 92K)

Sub 100 IQ.

Too bad a godlike soundtrack was wasted for this shit series.

>that's suspiciously normal
that is an asspull. if L werent right because muh plot, it would some kind of insane paranoia

This is the only time I agree with L. Light's daily life is boring as hell. They even had hard data that the killing patterns significantly changed in the time they observed Light. I fucking hate this shitty anime, nothing makes sense.

What you're referring to wasn't a rule, but Ryuk saying that normally, people who use a Death Note end up with a miserable fate.

his brain fell out

we all do

or that they just go to purgatory forever
because you know
that's a thing

Because he was never intelligent. People seem to be forgetting that the only time it was mentioned that he was intelligent is when they're talking about muh highest ranked high schooler. High school is fucking pleb shit

it is already extreme paranoia to assign causation without any evidence. assigning causation while being shown contrary evidence is borderline madness

In Christianity purgatory is not canon and 100% made up to cash in some fast money

but christian canon is a worse mess than gundam's
there are like zillions of volumes of bible stuff that got declared not cool enough at the council of nicea
at this point you could say practically anything about christianity and have it be true

>If he would have masturbated to some degenerate fetish
Just fap to the gravure mag then. Make it seem like he is releasing the perfect student stress. Perfect crime.

But they already had plenty of evidence, evidence caused by Light's own mistakes.
>assigning causation while being shown contrary evidence
There doesn't exist contrary evidence since the killing method is completely unknown, brainlet. There can be only supporting evidence or no evidence at all.

Imagine being this much of a baby moralfag with zero backbone. Good thing Near didn't take any kind of shit from his peers, differently from L.

Attached: 008.jpg (1066x1600, 305K)

Why did L immediately believe it was a single person instead of an organization? Did they explain it somewhere in the manga?

>investigations are based upon assumptions
loooool, in anime world this is true i guess

>plenty of evidence
no, literally no evidence AT ALL, just a series of logical leaps, such as
>the killing method is completely unknown
if you dont know the killing method, how do you even know theres a killer you dumbfuck

He had a scrap in his watch, but was shot before he could write.

Near watched television or some shit idk

Yes, but I believe it is also explained in the anime. His first victim was a rando kidnapper on TV, and earlier on Light didn't plan out deaths as he did later, he just wrote that shit in whenever he felt like it and L found out the time of those deaths were compatible with the spare moments during the day of an average high school student.

>no, literally no evidence AT ALL
At this point in the anime there was already plenty of evidence, retard. The death of Raye Penber who was observing the Yagami family was already plenty to take the entire Yagami family into custody.
>if you dont know the killing method, how do you even know theres a killer you dumbfuck
Because we don't live in the stonge age and don't blame gods anymore for events we can't explain. Since a specific group of people are targeted they must have been killed.

>Gundam's
Lmao what is complex about Gundam canon?
The UC anime are all canon, except for Zeta Movies and Gundam Origin.
Novels aren't canon.

>we don't blame gods anymore for events we can't explain
wut, the shinigami exists in death note, so it literally IS GOD

The musical was surprisingly good. Its ending is probably my favorite version after the jap films and the manga.

See
They already had a good guess due to the comparatively amateurish killing routine in the beginning.

It was for that information that L made the great gamble to provoke the killer on TV. The killing method is unkown but the killer showed the behavior of a human in his first killings.

more logical leaps.
>The killing method is unkown but the killer showed the behavior of a human
yes, a supernatural killing is "human behaviour" lmao

shut up

Attached: 010.jpg (1066x1600, 405K)

Taylor being killed on TV due to a provocation highly confirmed it was a human. What would be illogical is to immediately assume the killer is a god and do fuck all or do a normal investigation like for any common criminal.

Please keep cleaning toilets and never become a cop or detective.

oh look, an entire page of logical leaps

>human
>kill with supernatural powers

He shouldn't have watched the god-damn TV.

>I'm going to write this policeman's name in the death note and write "you will kill L before you kill yourself"

wouldn't this work? He could control people before death, couldn't he?

>a supernatural god needing a name and a face to kill isn't the stupidest shit ever

If you use the notebook to attempt proxy killing, it will just force an heart attack to prevent that from happening.

The controlled person can only function within what they actually know. If they don't know L, they can't kill L and just die to a heart attack (or skip and kill themselves). Unless you mean someone from the investiation group, but then Light would avoid using them like that since it would give L clues or make him go into deeper hiding if the attempt failed.

>there are established rules of behavior when supernatural events appear

>a human with supernatural powers needing only a name and face to kill isnt the stupidest shit ever

works both ways dumbcunt, but supernatural implies not human

It didn't. And since the guy on TV was an ACTUAL CRIMINAL they didn't really prove anything. It wasn't proof that Kira is a human and it wasn't proof that Kira is in Japan.
The ACTUAL proof of Kira being a human was when they later figured out that he can't kill people unless he knows their exact name and face.

DN can't force people to kill people. But you could easily say "victim poisons L's chocolate" or "victim gives Light a gun".

elimination of the impossible yadda yadda however unlikely yadda yadda and shit

supernatural IS the impossible

He never really "won", as a matter of fact L figured him out in like 3 episodes.
The problem is that L was autistic and had a strong sense of JUSTICE so he wouldn't put him on trial without 100% evidence, which is hard to do when you're dealing with fucking magic.

No it doesn't. That's your subjective opinion.
Limitations imply human and no limitations imply god. That's all there is to it.

limitations of human imply human. limitations of god imply limited god

>"victim poisons L's chocolate"
Nope, that's a pretty direct act and must still cause a pre-emptive heart attack. I remember Light going over this when they killed the US president, saying he couldn't give nuclear instructions to his military by order of the notebook. Giving Light a gun however is sketchy.

That's not what supernatural means.

it means it has no cause in the known universe, aka impossible

I'll admit, overhyping a god like that does sound biased if you live in a culture where gods are not omnipotent, but again, just by gathering previously collected data, there aren't any logical leaps to be found, only informed assumptions.

Even if that was the case, what does it change? As it is in the anime it was already a very small organization investigating Kira even though Kira is a worldwide phenomena. So let's assume most of the world's investigative forces believed it was a god and gave up, they just let that one small organization continue investigating and trying, or to get more information about that god. In the end some organization would have continued to investigate in the matter.

It's completely logical that there is at least one organization that assumes it's a human killer even when most organizations believe it to be a god since it's one of the possibilities after all. Now the plot has made the leader of the organization incredibly intelligent and talented so they made the right assumption from the information that exists, mainly working with the idea that kira is a human that lives in japan.

there isnt any data, rly.
some guy dies seemingly unrandomly isnt a data point, since you have zero causation.

>seemingly unrandomly
lol

>It's completely logical that there is at least one organization that assumes it's a human killer
while this is not at all a logical given, its not entirely farfetched. however, the rate at L deduces kira based on so very little is deus ex machina. i actually assumed L had foreknowledge of the death note when i first saw the anime. turns out it was just an asspull

I want an anime about OG angels. Lovecraftian how they where.

do you know how murders work? there needs to be forensic evidence, otherwise there is no discernible killer!

L is definitely an asspull as an character but that's the premise of Death Note to begin with. What would happen if someone with a perfect killing method got investigated by the absolute best anime detective there is?

That's the premise of the anime and you first need to accept it as it is no matter how retarded you think it is. Only after that we can talk about logical leaps and such. L made a gamble with the information he had and the series would be over if Light didn't buy into it, that's all there is to it.

>What would happen if someone with a perfect killing method got investigated by the absolute best anime detective there is?
It turns out, the only way to beat a deus ex machina (literally the death note) is a deus ex machina (L)

It turns out retard with a perfect killing method can be beaten by a guy with superhuman deductive skills, yes. Death Note is a shit series, and Light being below average in intelligence is one reason why.

He forgot how to kick.

>Light being below average in intelligence
how is this even a fair comment since he was destined to lose?

Most times than not, seemingly unsolvable rational problems are solved by irrational thinking. Only in your case you're mixing rational thinking with having a stick up your butt.

Because he lost because of very dumb decisions. Even if we give Light some slack and say it wasn't that dumb to kill Taylor since he couldn't know that L had superhuman deductive skills he still made countless bad mistakes afterwards. And even if it doesn't make Death Note any better, it is clearly intended that Light is a very flawed character.

>Most times than not
most times than not, rational problems are solved rationally. "rational" problem doesnt apply to death note though

in my reckoning light did everything flawlessly until L went to his school. L just knows shit he shouldnt know preceding all that

Matsuda didn't win the gold in the Beijing Olympics.

If I remember correctly you wouldn't even need L to make the correct assumptions after the event with Taylor since Light made extremely dumb decisions.

Light openly used police information > L knows kira has access to police information > he investigated all the families of police officers that have access to that information > L hires a guy called Raye Penber to observe the family members of the Yagami family > Raye Penber didn't find anything suspicious but Light killed him anyway right when he wanted to drop the observation > the death of Raye and later his wife made the Yagami family extremely suspicious > they installed cameras in the most suspicious families > at this point Light became the prime suspect > L entered the university of Light

How about accidentally dropping the gun in front of Light while also grabbing L so that he can't move?

It doesn't matter if you believe he is right or not. Anyone in a high position would not accept someone having a weapon as powerful as the deathnote. After Light died, they probably confiscated the notebook and started a new war over it.

And he got into tokyo university, which is a japanese ivy league school.

Purgatory is inferred by theologians from passages in the apocrypha, which is part of the christian canon. At some point in the last millenium, priests schemed money-making scams off of the idea of purgatory by lying to parishioners about the purpose of purgatory.

So no, purgatory wasn’t just made up for some side money.

>from passages in the apocrypha
And the gospels. And the epistles. There's doctrinal support throughout the entire Bible.

Because people in power don't like other people with power.

Why the fuck were the doujins for this series so bad? I thought I'd try and look some up today and it was pretty much impossible to find a decent lxlight doujin. MelloMatt had some decent ones but all the LxLight doujins look like they were drawn by 3 year olds.

Because he became to agogent and headstrong thinking of himself as a god when he was still just a man.

Watching Death Note back (not a snot nosed little kid) I realize it was never really a daring game of cat and mouse. It was Light consistently trying to cover up his constant mistakes. Then asspulling a win. Then getting asspulled and losing. Definitely do not recommend going back to this series.

that's literally the definition of cat-mouse.

Watching Tom and Jerry back (not a snot nosed little kid) I realize it was never really a daring game of cat and mouse. It was Tom consistently trying to cover up his constant mistakes. Then asspulling a win. Then getting asspulled and losing. Definitely do not recommend going back to this series.

It implies cleverness on the part of the mouse. But Light was just retarded and came up solutions that had no reason to work. So it was really like cat-mentally handicapped mouse

The anime is great.
It has an amazing soundtrack, competent animation and it oozes with atmosphere.
Personally the only fault it has for me is that the second half is weaker than the first.
And i re-watched it a few years ago so i obviously had value from rewatching it.

Watching VHS tapes of my cat and mouse back (not a snot nosed little kid) I realize it was never really a daring game of cat and mouse. It was my cat consistently trying to cover up his constant mistakes. Then asspulling a win. Then spreading mice intestines and guts on the carpet. Definitely do not recommend going back to those memories.

Everything kira did was strongly deniable, had an alibi, and the deaths were purely circumstantial.
L just knows exactly where to look every fucking time, and even when he looks and finds nothing, still knows to not stop looking for the same thing. Its lame.

>supernatural way of killing
>caring for alibis
Are you retarded? Those aren't worth shit in this particular case. Why would L stop at that? He's smarter than that.
As for why he kept prodding at Raito I could be wrong since it's been a long time since I last read it but I remember L had profiled Kira's personality, age, and social standing, from his actions and Raito just so happened to fit that profile and live in Kanto. You have to admit his obsession and constant vigilance is justified.

Theres just no way kira can stop L knowing what hes up to, because plot.
None of Ls guesses are ever wrong

Could you use the Death Note to make a political leader release all information they know of a conspiracy theory? Like if they do give the information to the public it proves it but if they just have a heart attack it wasn't true?

Attached: Unknown.jpg (205x246, 10K)

apocrypha, by definition, is books outside the roman-catholic biblical canon

short version,Yeah. you can use death note to force someone to publicly confess then an hero
but the if you phrase it wrong, you can make them confess to things they didn't do by putting words in their mouth, like the crook Kira made write 'did you know that shinigami like apples?' before dying.

He should have never lasted that long. Never.

i know this is late, but what happens in the musical?
