Previously, the Japanese preliminaries of the YAGP started. The first day was just the pre-competitive category but Ryou didn't seem all that positive regarding his performance. For Kanade the real highlight was a workshop being taught by Eugene Garrel, one of Takimoto's old friends who Kanade's had a few encounters with already. She was surprised during the workshop to see just how much Ema had improved and was even a little intimidated to learn that Ema's still not thinking much of it... all while Ema seems to have caught the attention of some of the foreign instructors.
This chapter, we really start getting into the meat as it's time for Kanade and Shouko to perform their dances for the qualifiers.
And here we have the main hurdle, in a sense, for this arc. He's aware of Kanade through Abby and Kanade is determined to impress him for that scholarship during the entire competition.
So Kanade danced well, nailed her choreography and made an impression on Oliver. But is it the right impression?
We'll find out next chapter. The qualifier round is done so it's a bit of waiting to see who passed into the finals. We'll get more workshops, some reflection over the day's events and even plenty of page time for Julia.
Honestly it just doesn't feel like there's much to say about this chapter. It's not remotely bad but it's more about the dancing and art this time than anything else.
