My head always fucks itself when remembering those books got made into anime

I read the original when I was a kid, but there's a fucking manga too?

Never read the manga, only heard about it.
A quick look at Wikipedia says there's 12 volumes and started in 2006, which is fucking crazy to me.

Looks like generic fantasy to me, what's wrong with it

I watched Deltora Quest when I was younger I remember really liking it.

Also got a DS game in Japan looks pretty decent

The original books are from Australia of all places

Yoshinari made godlike illustrations for it.

The hell did he do to her? What is that he's holding anyway since that's not a mixer or a frying pan.

it's based on a series of YA fantasy books written by an australian author from 2000-2005.

The English books had cool as fuck monsters too; now that I think of it they were very dark souls-ian

I only saw the live action movie of that and I liked it, although it pretty clearly didn't know who the target audience was (kids? Adults? Tim Burton fans who want to see a ripoff of his work?)

John C. Reilly was pretty well cast as the main vampire.

It is based on children's books you bought at the school book fare. I actually own all these and the sequels, there's 8 from the first series, 3 from shadowlands sequel, and 4 from the dragons sequel.
They all go on magical adventures where they fight giant monsters, wizards, and solve puzzles. The puzzles part weirds me for japan translations, because some of them are word puzzles like "make these ten sticks two" and they use the sticks to spell the word two.

oh naive user, he hasn't done anything to her yet

What'd you mean? It gets worse doesn't it?

>(kids? Adults? Tim Burton fans who want to see a ripoff of his work?)
So, teens.

That actually makes sense as an anime. I mean, for fuck's sake, the entire plot is identical to Devilman Crybaby but with vampires instead of weird Japanese demons.

It's a geiger counter, obviously.

Well what do you know. It's one of those devices that detects radiation.

I see your point. It does have that mix of edgy and cutesy aesthetics that quasi-alternative kids crave, and that usually drives them into otaku-dom.
