Last time, during her summer break Kanade was in a rush as Saki was back from England for a short time so Kanade was eager to work on her variation with her. Risa also came by to watch and had to admit she never could've ended up like Saki or Kanade solidifying her reasons for retiring. However Risa's long since found a passion in costume design, wants to pursue it as a career and would love it if Kanade wore a costume of her design for the YAGP which Kanade eagerly accepts.
Shouko and Ema's rivalry is starting back up and it looks like Ema's already caught some attention.
That's it for this chapter. It's a bit of a warm up but next chapter starts volume 8 and things will ramp up as the YAGP will take up the entirety of the next volume. Next chapter we'll get Shouko and Kanade's first dances.
As far as I'm aware she's full gaijin since her full name is shown later to be Miriam Weber and she says later she's more comfortable speaking English. I don't think her actual nationality has been stated though.

Are the raws in French too? Well, there's German and Spanish later, as well as English. The French is a decent effort I guess, even if there are some mistakes here and there, and the style often sounds a too litterary rather than natural-speaking.

AFAIK the raws just indicate if the character's speaking another language. So including the French (and German, Spanish and such) is a stylistic choice by the scanlator and a pretty nice one I think. Helps add to the more realistic feel.

Well, that's what I meant. She's definitely not interrested in letting Kanade following her own path and becoming the kind of dancer she wants to be. What Nichols wants is clearly to create a clone of herself, or at best a dancer known as "Abigail Nichols' disciple/successor" rather than "Kanade Ariya". Basically, she's offering to help for her own purpose only. Garrel clearly states in a later chapter how selfish she is. She has just started her keikaku.

Yeah, she's definitely selfish but I don't think it's supposed to be selfish in a way where you think she's a bitch or something. I think she probably sees a lot of herself in Kanade even without imitation and likely genuinely likes her too, plus being a top student of one of her friends and all. On the same hand, Takimoto kind of counter-picked her on the variation because Kanade's still "her" student. Kanade's kind of caught in the middle of a tug-of-war between a couple of people though I think Garrel's the only one who comes off as not letting his ego get totally in the way.
It'l be interesting to see how things go with her if/when Kanade starts moving away from her whether she gets the scholarship or not.

Sure but will she get a scholarship to the Royal Ballet School? Honestly I think the best thing for her would be to get into an American school considering where her strengths lie and it's said later on that there were a bunch of American schools interested in her after the YAGP.
But I guess that's what interesting to me. It's not so much if she goes somewhere but where she goes.

She said she wanted to go to western Europe though. She said she liked her time in Marseille and took some interest in French choreographers, but I doubt this school has a name big enough for the sake of the series at this point (after all she's now at a point when she'll enter in a next-level phase in prestigious school, as a number of prestigious names have been droped). Then there's also all the American groups, but until now we didn't see any of their representatives as judges, so even if it has been stated that they have their eyes on her due to how she fits their standards, it would come out of the blue a bit I think. As for the Royal Ballet, it's what has been the most heavily suggested until now, but it's also clear that both Garrel and Takimoto directly told Kanade about their reluctance and their doubts about Nichols' motivations (plus even if I don't read moonrunes, the later chapters let us think that Kanade herself may have some doubts about her, though maybe I'm mistaken here). So the situation is quite open and there's a lot of possibilities. Nothing seems carved in stone. The most surprising event would be for her to fail getting a scholarship. After all the story is not about her struggles and the hurdles and failures she has to overcome, but about how she faces challenges head on and how she manage to overcome them.
