why do zoomers pretend isekai is a modern trend?
Why do zoomers pretend isekai is a modern trend?
Bet you feel really clever OP, you figured it out. There were shows that fit the isekai standards before.
What an anime expert.
sure it existed before, but it is unequivocally a modern trend
Wow user, isekai anime existed before 2015, looks like you've completely debunked the claim that the proportion of isekai anime releasing in the last few years is completely out of whack relative to any other time.
It's actually boomers who pretend that modern isekai are shit while the pre2000s were "muh great fantasy adventures".
>zoomers
>Anime fans believe that anime invented the "trapped on / transported to another world" genre
You guys should feel ashamed of being so ignorant.
Fuck off zoomer. You’re probably Canadian too.
Anime fans also think that Ikuharas visual directing is unique and that he invented dutch angles, the same way as NGEfags believe that Anno invented anything that can be found in NGE when in reality it's merely one big hodgepodge of stolen sequences from other anime and live action films. I don't think you should expect anime fans to be knowledgeable on anything. They aren't even knowledgeable of their own medium.
Apart from the fact that they don't know the older manga and anime, they weren't around for the metric fuckton of fantasy novels that used it as a basis in the 70s-90s. Thomas Covenant, Wiz Biz, Time of the Dark... Tons of Celtic and pseudo-Celic stuff that I don't even remember the names of. There were loads of them.
What a time to be alive!
>2000
>1% anime are isekai
>2019
>50% of anime are isekai
where did it go so wrong?
I don't know, they should've made it 90% by now
Isekai has existed since before John Carter made it popular to the masses.
Making it wish fulfillment stories where nerds get to be the most capable and successful person in a world inspired by D&D to the point where people in universe talk about points and perks IS a modern trend.
pre2000s % of isekai vs 2000s % of isekai, nice try though. And that % includes shit like the Digimon movies, so the figure is highly inflated.
Now try 2015-2019.
I miss god isekai.
Aim better
0.02363636364
That includes Digimon movies and shit like the Konosuba 1 episode bluray specials etc. I don't think you're aware of the amount of anime that is being produced. There's literally 78 anime that qualify as isekai. Assuming that some are untagged, we can assume ~100. Total amount of anime made from 2015-2019: 3300. If we exclude OVAs, Specials and movies the isekai number would probably drop to 30 or something. Television anime would still be a thousand.
Isekai for people that can't play without cheats.
>generations are /pol/
That's a ratio, not a percent. 2.4%
so right*
Rewatched Rayearth recently, it doesn't hold up. Twelve Kingdoms is the superior pre 2010 isekai.
Im just going to post some old timey isekai.
>Total amount of anime made from 2015-2019: 3,300
Where the fuck are 600+ anime a year (more like 800 considering 2019 just started) coming from when we barely ever hear of more than about 40 per season here?
Flight of dragons. A literal dnd dungeon master uses math to fight in a fantasy world he gets transported too.
Reverse isekai but it still counts
I finally watched Rayearth expecting the 90s Madoka or some shit, but it's just a literal children's anime, not in the sense that modern isekai shit is for kids or something but I mean literally aimed towards 8 year olds.
It was the most disappointing watch of 2018 for me.
Modern isekai needs more sexual assault as a plot device.
Like I said, it included movies, bluray specials and what not. TV anime are ~1000 assuming 2019 matches the average amount since 2015. The other 2300-2500 are various other shit. You gotta consider that something like Digimon Tri got like 6 movies in 3 years. That isn't relevant anime to you if you don't like Digimon, so you can already scratch all of these from your PTW list. Same applies for all the other shit that get sequels you don't watch, bluray specials you don't bother with, recap movies and whatnot.
>tripfags
If someone makes a thread asking what anime is for chads I'd assume it's from a /r9k/ shit
HURR DURR
Kill yourself you retarded fuck. I swear you niggers unironically think whenever someone talks shit about the garbage isekai trends and why they're shit they're also throwing fucking Alice in Wonderland into that bucket
Agreed Twelve Kingdoms is better only problem they never finish the story.
Rayearth is something you watch for nostalgia or to experience that sweet 90s art style. If you want something involving sword, robots and isekai watch escaflowne
Is this porn?
Rayearth is mentioned often in these threads, but it isn't really that good if you don't have the nostalgia goggles set to maximum.
Same goes for El Hazard, some people seem to praise it because its old, but its the same shit as any modern isekai.
No but this is. And its also really good isekai.
one of the first doujins I nutted to
Take the absolute worst late 2010 isekai, use a time machine to send said Isekai to Cartoon Network's HQ during the early 90's.
Voila: that show aired on Toonami and now is considered one of the greatest classics of the golden age of Japanese animation.
>"They just don't make them like that anymore"
>there's an alternative reality were Isekai Smartphone is considered a flawless classic between western anime circles
>those character designs
>that mecha
I-I think I'll give it a miss, user...
the only good characters are the blondes and the stuffed bear
People would shit bricks because it predicted smartphones decades before the invention of the iPhone.
I think you mean
What a time to die!
>In Another World with my Brickphone.
>protag becomes OP because he has the strongest phone known to man, capable of killing monsters in one strike and deflecting magic
and being able to summon a jormungandr
>climax upgrade is putting it in a sock to swing around
Why no one built an armor made of old nokia phones and game boys?
kek
dont you dare compare rayearth to edgenpc lord
>I DIED AND NOW MY SHIRT IS A NOKIA?!
would legit watch, sounds comfy
