Bigger audience means more authors can get into it and produce a product. At the same time, bigger amounts means more exposure to the genre and therefor more ideas get concieved

Broad appeal. People may cry about it being for kids, but the truth is that if your target demo is 10+ it's quite likely to be enjoyed by "kids of all ages". It doesn't work for stuuff directed at teens for example, these usually become insufferable after you grow up.
