Did he ever do that willingly? I'm not sure that he knew how to use his Quincy powers. At least as of the time of the final fight.

Its not something he really had access to until the end of the manga, I always assumed his powers were analogous to Haschvald's in that he couldn't manipulate Reishi, but it made others around him more powerful.

On another note, all his original Bankai powers were pretty similar to Blut Artere.

Why the fuck does Bleach have so much representation in this game anyway? It was never as popular in Japan as the other big Jump properties, and even the West only looks at it with disappointment and disdain these days. Meanwhile we can't even get more than one Fist of the North Star rep.

Bleach went to shit when Orihime got kidnapped and the arrancars became literal rehashes of Soul Society in every respect. That was literally a 70 chapter difference. The early arrancar arc from Ulq/Yammy to Grimmjow vs Ichigo/Shinji was still kino. TBTP was too, but that was also in the middle of a pile of shit that was HM and FKT.

I think it might be how Kubo gets his rocks off. It's a trope in lots of battle shonen, but I've never seen a mangaka quite so fond of it as Kubo. Though it's also just a byproduct of how Bleach handles fights in general.

We having another Bleach thread? Fuck it, I haven't touched it since it ended but off the top of my head, the issues I had were:

1.) Ichigo's final form was garbage. Literal trash.
2.) The final fight was awful. They made Ywach too OP so it couldn't have had a good ending.
3.) I don't mind Ichihime but Rukia and Renji are a garbage, gross couple. It was clearly a brother/sister thing. Just disgusts me to think about it.
4.) They underutilized Grimmjow. I was disappointed in his showing. I thought he'd get Segunda Etapa.
5.) I didn't like Haschlwalth whatsoever. What a boring penultimate villain. Didn't like Ywach much either.
6.) The Soul King should have been the real enemy. We should have been given ultimate closure on Aizen's problem with him.
7.) 90% of the Quincies weren't even Quincies, just monsters. The race became very ambiguous in its defining features.

Honestly, I wanted Ichigo to become something so feral and Frankenstein-ish, thanks to Urahara truly fucking him up in the name of science. It was hinted at but slowly dropped off into something basic and boring.

Also, so many characters that could have been built up into some A+ characterization, but inevitably also fell flat.

Zero squad, sternritters and the novel characters have already been announced for Brave souls. Which means they will be getting new voice actors.

Shueisha won't hire 30-40 new voice actors for one recording session of few lines unless you are a retard. Everything is done under contractual basis which stays relevant for a period of years.

A wild guess would be that Pierrot has already casted the VA's for the anime. That's why KLab can announce it at this point. Not to mention BBS has stayed faithful to using the voice actors from the anime.

Don't make Yammy Espada 0 mean that he is the strongest, simply that he is unranked since his power is rage and can grow exponentially.
Give chad a full demon form here or in the Quincy arc.
Make Aizen not transform into his Butterfly form, have him face Squad 0 or Gin + Hougyoku vs him at base form and then Ichigo arrives to kick his ass, fight goes mostly unchanged (Mugetsu, Aizen stands on top but is defeated and sealed, Ichigo loses powers, etc).
TYWB first half is kino, don't change anything aside from killing Byakuya.
Have Mayuri kill Gisele for good, Bambie gets de-zombified and joins Ichigo as his cumdumpster.
Give Grimmjow and maybe Nel a SE, have them kill a Royal Guard each

Why wasn't Yamamoto, Kyoraku, and Unohaha War Potentials?

Almost everyone agrees that Kubo is one of the most talented character - and arguably fashion - designers in the industry. The problem is, he lacks everything else in terms of developing a story and drawing backgrounds. And yes, you could argue he was paired up with shitty incompetent Shueisha editors and hacks who forced him to significantly alter Bleach for worse but other successful mangakas work just as well under these constraints whereas Kubo just stopped caring at a certain point.

Yhwach already explained why Yamamoto wasn't considered one despite being the strongest non-Zero squad shinigami at the time. Kyoraku isn't that special other than his bullshit OP Bankai which the Wandenreich didn't know about and Unohana was considered weaker than Kenpachi and also didn't really have anything special other than being the previous Kenpachi.

Yamamoto wasn't because despite being arguably the most powerful shinigami he was easily countered because of his arrogance. Yhwach explains this himself as he kills Yamamoto. Yamamoto had softened up and had grown complacent. He fell right into Yhwach's trap.

The thing tying all five together is a degree or unpredictability. Kenpachi is a monster capable of acclimating to almost any threat, Bland Ginger Boy is forever as special as the story needs, Aizen's reiatsu is seemingly endless, etc. Kyoraku is a tough senior captain but that's about it. Same for Unohana, who unlike Kenpachi had hit her ceiling.

I don't think he stopped caring about his art. he was always the poetic type and his art really shows that aspect of himself and I enjoy it a lot. People don't value simplicity and clarity anymore. backgrounds really don't matter in a lot of scenarios people think they do. it's just bullshit cherry picking that took hold because autists with self diagnosed savant syndrome convinced themselves that anyone who can do way more than necessary is special and cool to make themselves feel better.

As for the story. it was asspully but the jokes about KUBO asspulls were always fun and I think that's what matters. I miss that nonsensical aspect a lot too. I hope Kubo makes a comeback soon. I miss his wild ride and his artwork.

He's gone on record to say that due to his workload and the demanding pressure, he's gotten tired of Bleach for quite a while - since at least 2009 when the anime was reaching its peak numbers - which led to the disappointing concluding HM arc and the shitfest of the Fullbringer arc.

He still showcased that talent every now and then, especially with those flashy pages that showcased the chapter's title in an interesting manner but you can't deny that Bleach's quality dropped hard after its peak years.

Drawing a few panels without backgrounds works to emphasize particular moments, but when it's nigh constant it doesn't emphasize anything, it just robs the story of any sense of setting. This isn't necessarily a bad thing when the story doesn't require any focus on the setting; plays like No Exit or Waiting For Godot are often performed with no more set dressing than a couple of chairs, because the point of their stories is just the interactions between the characters which work regardless of the world that surrounds them. The problem is that Bleach is not Waiting for Godot. Bleach is, ostensibly, a battle manga whose main appeal lies in flashy and intricate fight scenes with simple but satisfying emotional payoff, fight scenes that by necessity are much less flashy and intricate when they take place in a featureless white void, and emotional payoff that is much less satisfying when the reader has no way of connecting a victory or defeat to any actual impact on the world of the story.

Kubo is not a visionary artist who uncovered the hidden truth that backgrounds actually harm a story, forgotten by all artists before and since. He's just a guy who got tired of drawing.

This. Backgrounds are one tool of many, not a vestigial shackle that Kubo removed in all his wisdom.

The Espada were literally cast and shitted on with hardly any Shinigami casualties until Aizen stepped in to deal with everyone. Then the Yammy fight as Espada zero was basically ignored and scrapped. Also, the entire arc literally took like half of Bleach to finish despite the HM invasion up to Aizen's defeat and sealing taking place in one whole day.

Not going to lie. Kenpachi was one of my favorites. Whenever he had screen time, I hunger for character development even if only on the battlefield. He backstory with Unohana was satisfying because it confirmed many old fan theories and headcanons. I and many other fans had about those two.

I feel that was more of subtly redeeming Mayuri. In a "Look, all those heinous acts of him torturing quincies actually paid off! Uryu's grandfather died for a reason!" and it's fine really. He did well.
